      Not really.
      Longer 4 door trucks can't turn that sharp and require a pull ahead.
      Doesn't matter if it's the computer or a driver.
      He started the test with the truck perpendicular to the open spot.
      A driver would have already angled the truck to the left while moving forward before going into reverse.

    The best bargain option on the Ford is the $750 for the 7.2 kw generator that you could use to power your house during a power outage assuming you are set up for that. You can pay more than that for a similar power portable emergency generator and that portable generator noisier.

    • @Vulnox
      @Vulnox 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Jonathan Spier The truck generator will absolutely power the essentials of your house. Without a slow start system it won’t run the AC, but 7000+ watts is more than enough to run computers, TVs, and almost everything else if you have natural gas for your furnace and oven. We have everyone home and the furnace fan is running for air circulation, computers are going, and our current consumption is 2500 Watts. The PB would have no trouble.
      If you have all electric appliances, you may run into issues. The truck could run many of them at normal running draw, but that surge draw on electric dryers and that might overdo it. But if you just needed a couple days of power in an emergency and can do without running your dryer or AC, the truck is plenty.

Is a big plus and yes you can power your home with the generator. During the winter freeze here in texas. Ford owners ran their homes for up to 3 days with the generator. Fridge, TV, fans lights and all.

    The "Killer Feature" that nails it for FORD F-150 being the winner is the 7200 Watt onboard generator option!
    In Texas, during that Winter 2021 severe cold snap, Ford made this truck available for locals to power their households and 7200 watts FULL LOAD for between 24 hours to 36 hours per fuel up can EASILY power the average U.S. household of Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, TV, Desktop Computer Systems, laptops, routers, Satellite TV system, phones, lights and 150 watt space heater!
    That feature alone when bought with an ELECTRICAL SHUNT CIRCUIT BOX allows you to SAFELY reroute the truck power BACK INTO your home during any power outages so that your truck becomes an AWESOME home generator!
    That one feature of 7200 Watt on-board quiet generator option alone makes the Ford F-150 the CLEAR WINNER in my opinion!
    ---
    For those of you not familiar with the capabilities of this 7200 watt power supply option, one of my Northern Canada friends went up to his northern Alberta and Northern British Columbia winter lake/river ice fishing expedition area for almost THREE FULL MONTHS with one of the first F-150's with the 7200 watt power option that came to Canada!
    He bought himself an in-bed fuel tank (250 litres - 65 gallons) that allowed him to run his space heater, microwave, 55 inch flatscreen 4K TV, x-Box gaming system, Satellite Internet/TV system, portable fridge/cooler, his laptop and phones and a long-range shortwave/VHF radio for 4 to 6+ hours per day for WEEKS ON END! He only had to go into town for a fill-up TWICE.
    Many modern appliances are VERY efficient so that 7200 watts will last a LOOOOONG TIME if you use them for between 4 to 6 hours per day !
    He stayed in his -40 Celcius and colder insulated tent for three whole months with it's fancy inflatable bed, couch and full portable country kitchen by merely changing the river or lake he went ice fishing on. That Ford F-150 7200 watt generator option kept him safe and sound away from the crazy Covid pandemic world all that time without a hiccup even in the coldest North Canadian Winter! He enjoyed all of life's modern comforts FOR THREE MONTHS in the middle of winter and merely had to get some local fuel and food TWICE during that entire time period! My friend and his faithful companion dog both looked very well-rested, well-fed and very comfortable when they finally did come back to the big city after those three months!
    For Armageddon and the Zombie Apocolypse, that F-150 is a REAL good bargain to keep yourself comfortable in times of crisis!
    Again, I ALSO SUGGEST buying a SAFE TRUCK-TO-HOUSE electrical SHUNT circuit box and an extra 250 litre in-truck-bed fuel box to allow you the range and power supply option to last WEEKS at a time if you get the most power-efficient appliances and personal electronics!

      Its not a package its simply a $99 option for the 3.92 gears which wouldve made towing capacity over 10,000. Id still rather tow 7000 lbs in a 1500 than a colorado lol

    • @bobisrighturwrong
      @bobisrighturwrong 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@The_Draque- I'd seriously worry about towing 6k in most half tons. It isn't the tow weight, it's the hitch weight.
      Consider a 7k trailer probably has about 1000-1200 on the tongue to be safe for sway. Then add passengers, normal gear you have under the seats, gear you are taking for that trip and everything else. You could easily be several hundred pounds over weight which makes trailers act funky. Almost no way to be within weight limits on even the beefiest half ton. Not to mention stopping is severely compromised.

    • @bobisrighturwrong
      @bobisrighturwrong 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Duddey9 - again it isn't the TOW rating that is a problem. It's the amount you can tow, it's PAYLOAD. If you had a properly loaded 12.5k trailer hooked up your truck the tongue should be, at a bare minimum, 1250 lbs (10%) Most trailers, especially rv's, are set up to have about 13-15%, or up to 1875 lbs in your case on the tongue. Don't forget air bags do NOTHING to add to your ability to tow heavy except return the truck to level which helps with headlights and a tiny bit with nose dive under heavy braking.
      Now add your weight, your significant other and kids if applicable, all gear like a generator, tie downs, etc, add gas (yes gas as the payloads are calculated using dry weight), add everything in your glove box, under the seats, etc. Pretty easily to get 600lbs there alone. Now your total payload is about 2475. I'll bet your truck is rated at no more than 1200lbs so you're over DOUBLE what you should be.
      Most half tons that have high tow ratings are maxed out at way under that number in the real world.
      But continue to think you can tow that much if you want but don't cry if you get into trouble in high winds, something breaks or you have to stop suddenly and you can't.
      I have a 1 ton ram diesel srw and I wouldn't tow much more than 14k without major concerns.

    Great video! A little irked that a $100 MSRP price difference got the RAM a point when other items like towing/payload or MPG which are way bigger long term issues than $100 were also only worth a point. If you got the 3.92 rear on the RAM to make it more comparable, I suspect that would bridge $100 easy.

      I agree with the above that $100 MSRP difference hardly seems worth issuing a point over when the other categories are much more important. I can't get over how slow the RAM was in the 0-60 test and how small the payload is (obv that's trim/option specific so could be improved). It may not be haulin' hay, but I do think a lot of these top-tier trucks are getting a workout hauling boats, campers, and other toys. Roman may be “electrified” vs Andre being “E-torquified”, BBUUTT, Andre is electrified in real life!! Haha.
    I admit I have a 2021 F150, FX4, Lariat , Sport, Hybrid 7.2 kw and I love the truck! It’s my 2nd one as the first was totalled when a texting driver ran a red light. I was unhurt except for being a bit stiff for a few days (and that’s while recovering from back surgery!). Th truck rolled over on it’s roof. There was a fibreglass canopy on back as well. My MSRPin CANADIAN dollars was $83,500. I paid less than $80,000 for it, mostly because of a 30 year friendship with the owner of the dealership.
    The acceleration is just as it appears here, fast! Faster than my 2019 Raptor SuperCab this truck replaces. I bought an 8,000 lb (loaded up) travel trailer. Said I would never tow that much weight with a 1/2 ton many times on these TH-cam channels. Turns out I was wrong. Towing, stopping, crosswinds,,,, all very acceptable. The power is significant and not as hard on fuel as I thought, depending on the wind and hills. I live in the mountains in Alberta, Canada. I owned a Ram in the early 80s, and one in 2020 (1500 Classic Express). Two very similar outcomes. I will probably wait another 40 ish years before I buy another. My experience only. I have friends that swear by their Rams. I only swore ABOUT my Ram!! Haha. I backwoods camp so I love the 7.2 kw. It runs everything in my trailer. As a generator it’s so much quieter than the “quiet” smaller gas generators. If it starts up at night it may wake you, I sleep through it mostly. You are not going out in the middle of the night to fuel up when winter camping. I have owned one since mid January 2020.
    Either truck is very nice to drive. At 22 mpg the Ram is doing very well also!! I only just think the interior of the F150 favours comparably to the Ram. Both are very nice now but different enough to be affected by bias or personal needs/preferences. I would be very happy with either interior.
    Both trucks are very expensive and luxurious. The price is high when. First seen, but the content and technology is impressive as well. Not like 20 years ago when the Lariat was the top of the heap for Ford and the Laramie was for Ram!! Hahaha.

      Because the Ram can either get the deep rear end gears for a little more towing and give up fuel economy or keep the fuel economy and give up the extra towing capacity. The new Powerboost does both. Also the "Ram Boxes" knock off some of the payload. Top of the line "Limited" and "Platinum" trucks usually don't have the good tow or payload numbers of the work trucks, Ram work trucks have much better numbers than this test Ram but then again, so do Fords.

    • @gasolinediesel972
      @gasolinediesel972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a low towing capacity and payload capacity for multiple reasons. The first one is the ramboxes which put a huge dent in the numbers. The 2nd one is the gear ratio. The 3rd one is because it's a top of the line truck, and I've never seen a luxury truck that had a high towing capacity because all of the features weigh the truck down. A base model truck with a hemi and the 3.92 gears is rated for 12750 pounds towing and about 2300 payload. Pretty good numbers.
