    I've had my 2022 CB500X for a few weeks now and there are two issues I've got with it...
    1: The Display - Compared to my old KTM 390 it is very poor.
    2: The Ride - Every time I get on it, I can't stop riding because it's so gorgeous. It's like being on a magic carpet. I went out for a quick ride the other day and ended up doing a 150-mile trip without breaking a sweat.
    I absolutely LOVE this bike =)

    I picked up this exact bike and color wave as my first motorcycle. I was originally looking at the rebel 500 and the harley sportster and never heard of the cb500x. While completing the MSF course here in the US the course was held at the Harley dealership and they tried so hard to get me onto a 883 and pressing me about the HOG group they have it all felt so cult like and overbearing for a new rider who wants to ride as a hobby not a lifestyle. So the Harleys were not an option and I was down to the Rebel 500, went and sat on one and unfortunately as a 6' 3" person I hated everything about the position of my body. I walked around the showroom floor and saw the 2021 cb500F in black (I definitely didn't want an all black bike not my style) but when I sat on it I couldn't believe how ergonomic the pegs felt and the bar position compared to a "cruiser" style. I went home and did a ton of research and found the CB500X and two days later I had it brought to my house and its been three non rainy days of riding later and I have no regrets. Also the green color wave really appealed to me which makes me think master chief or boba fett haha.

    You did the one simple thing that no one else does. Gave us your weight, height and inside leg measurement, and then sat on the bike. The seat height is the one factor that makes a buying decision, and you did it right at the beginning. Excellent.

  • @bruceforster3709
    @bruceforster3709 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'm 6 foot 2 with a 31 inch inseam. I have a 2018 CB 500 X, and I like it VERY much. I bought it in late 2020 for $4500 USD with only 2800 Miles on it. It gets a consistent 71 MPG Highway, sometimes 74 MPG if I'm just cruising at 55. I sold my 2007 Suzuki DR650 in order to buy the Honda. I have NOTHING negative to say about the Suzuki. Simply put, I'm 67 Years old, and no longer feel like getting beat up on the Logging Roads, LOL!
    I had NO idea when I sold the Suzuki, that Petrol was going to go through the roof-so in that regard the Honda was a very good financial choice as well.

As a long term owner I would strongly recommend this bike to anybody more interested in practicality than outright speed. Cheers.

You touch on all the practical features of motorcycles that are important for everyday riders. Thank you.

    An excellent review of an excellent bike. I am slightly biased, as my current ride is a 2017 model and I love it to bits. It is fair to say that I have had a large number of bikes over the last 40 odd years and I have to say this is the best all rounder I`ve had. I have owned bikes from 50 cc to 1600 cc, some that would do 160mph, some that were classics and others brand new but this bike is so good in so many ways. It is comfortable, VERY economic and fast enough for normal, legal riding under any conditions. I can`t recommend them highly enough and will definitely upgrade to the new model, when the time comes.

      I have a similar bike history, lots of bikes, from 125's to ZZR1400 and most things in between. Both the CB500 and the NC750 are such easy bikes to ride if I was only allowed 1 more bike to last a lifetime it would be one of those two models...

    Great review as always Mark I never find your reviews lacking in any way. All the info you need without the waffle. My main concern about the current line up from Honda is the ridiculous idea of the indicators on all the time. The issue is further enhanced at night.. One quick glance from a driver at a junction could easily be mistaken as an indication. It doesn't bear thinking about.

    Hi excellent review ! I have a 2022 CB500X in Green (nicest colour IMO) for a week now and I must say it’s a superb motorcycle for under 500cc! Bought to ride over more rural roads as I have three existing bigger bikes all 1100cc and not so good on Irish twisted switch back roads! I’m currently only taking it up to 4000- 4500 revs and it’s a tight wee twin (95 miles to date )returning 83 mph! Looking forward to many more miles with happy smiles!

    With that large fuel capacity and incredible mph this is the perfect frugal commuter with todays high gas prices. Do like that Honda put a second front disc on the 2022. The power plug on the fairing should be on all bikes to power phone and GPS devices. When I was looking last year I considered this bike but found it a little too tall as I am the same dimensions as yourself. Your video of the NC 750x convinced me to move in that direction, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. Rode my 2017 Trophy SE yesterday and happy that you influenced my decision there too. All the best Mark and looking forward to many more videos.

I currently own a 1977 Moto Guzzi California T3 and a 2008 California 1100 EV. The EV is feeling a bit heavy around town and parking. I'm 66 years old and still want to ride. I'm 5ft 10 in and 70 kg, similar to you. I haven't ridden one but decided to buy a new one for March 2024

    Looks great vfm and usual Honda build quality. Shame the screen isn't adjustable while sitting on the bike. Can't imagine the cost of providing this would add that much more to the bike? Also surprised that Honda of all the bike manufacturers has not embraced illuminated switch gear like Triumph and KTM which is so good for riding in darkness. The rest seems really good.

    Beautiful bike! my local shop had a used 2019 with only 515 miles red in color I went ahead & picked up that. I traded in my '18 CRF250L rally I love that CRF but I do most of my riding on the street so I figured the 500X would be better it's such a smooth nice bike... I'm sure the new one is better with the suspension upgrades personally I think they just did the dual rotor brakes so it could be something else for the 🆕 model to have but the suspension was definitely a worthy upgrade (from what they say) personally I don't need it don't do much off-roading but I'm very happy with the bike itself I'm doing a 16 🦷⚙️ & then leaving it alone. Smooth, fun to ride fast enough for the freeway and I'm sure you can hit some decent dirt roads

    Hi Mark,
    Maneesh Joshi here from India. One of the best reviews of this bike that i have seen. Excellent way to convey the specs and your own opinion.
    I know what you mean with that light slipper clutch; I feel the same on my 2022 CB350 and it is just brilliant in town usage.
    I have a 2019 Versys 650 currently and I find it a tad too heavy and powerful for me, even after 18k kms on it. I seem to not get used to the top heavy nature of the bike at all.
    How do you think the Honda will be with regard to the Versys? My plan is to buy this and keep my touring luggage weight down to 20 kgs so that, when fully loaded, the Honda will be equal to the wet weight of the Versys.
    Just questions to you:
    1. Does the Honda feel top heavy in riding in traffic?
    2. How does the torque feel in say 1st or 2nd at low RPM? ( if I do buy this, I'll be riding it to Ladakh).
    Again, an excellent video👍🏼

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi maneesh ...it's not heavy and feels well balanced and it hadms plenty of torque in the low gears for low speed riding through traffic..it has a great engine :)

    Great bullet proof bike. I had a 2019. The only thing was the windshield. Perhaps I should have explored a MRA Vario windshield for it. Just a great worry free versatile “goldilocks” bike. Great review, and my one big concern is about the digital speedometer. I’m not a fan of them, and they seem to be on many newer motorcycles. First, it seems it would be hard to see the display under some lighting conditions due to glare, and second, I imagine it’s expensive to fix if it malfunctions. Everything else about the bike looks good, aside from the gold forks, which I see on many bikes and they look very tacky in my mind, but that’s a subjective, cosmetic issue. I like the lines on the bike and the efficiency fuel consumption too.

    I have the 2019 500R version of this bike now with just over 15,000 km and absolutely love it. Thinking of getting the 500X though because we have a lot of dirt trails that would be fun to explore so some 50/50 tires would really do wonders. The powertrain is an absolute honey -- perfect amount of power for in town, backcountry roads, riding with luggage and pillion, and freeway runs. I can get as low as 2.5 L/100 km when commuting around town, though my average is 3.3 L/100 km for the 15k km. One tip is to remove the small intake snorkel to get quite a bit more growl under full throttle (also softens up the throttle response below 2500 RPM).

      @@MrSatan1376 If you remove the seat and look right near the gas tank, there's a right-angle snorkel that directs the intake air. You can remove this piece (2 screws, requires removing the battery first) and it makes the engine sound more open and a bit louder when you give it throttle (no change at idle or gentle throttle).

Mainly because it's, also, a very frugal bike, is very low revving at motorway speeds ( around 3,500RPM at 70MPH ) Plus, of course, the 'frunk' storage, which is incredibly useful.
