I thank god there are people like you. Who like to put a lot of time and energy into whatever they are doing. This video is really informative and instructive for those of us who are new to this hobby. Greetings from Sweden.
The shifter pedal has an adjustable linkage, you can position the shifter to any position you require, I also have a 2018 model 500x, had the same problem until I did the adjustment, very simple to do!
I said the same thing when I got to that part. I was like "oh no...he didn't know you can just move the shift pedal up and down". RIP. I still hate the standard pegs anyway, so I replaced those rubber ones with some nice cleated ones.
Great review mate, a lot of people say these are beginner bikes but I’m not sure what that really means? I’ve got a 2020 model and have had a Africa twin 2017. Both great bikes. The Africa twin was faster and had better suspension but that’s about it. All bikes are a compromise somewhere. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Thank you Joh ! . Thank you for explaining it all in laymen terms like you did . I am on my second CB500X . It has the Rally Raid wheel and suspension package which really changes this bike ....totally . Both of my CB's have the original factory windshield . Yes , the buffeting is a known issue with the CB's . The fix for this ended up being the small windscreen added to the top of my windshield made by Puig . I don't really understand why it works so well but for me ( 6 ' tall ) it has to totally eliminated the buffeting ....100% . Its hard to believe but it is true .
Hi. For my 2018 CB500x I bought a pair of Alpinestar Corozal ADV boots, larger than yours. All I did was shorten the adjustable link rod between the shifter lever and the gearbox by 15mm and it worked great. Love what you have done to the bike. Look forward to the trip.
I have the same engine in the Honda 2022 rebel 500. I just love that engine. It runs so smoothly and has good power and great gas mileage and superber Reliability
I have 2020 model and have the same shifter issues when I got my boots. You can adjust the shifter. There is a linkage to it. You can play there. Now I got proper MX boots and have to readjust the shifter. I hope it will work.
Nice setup bro! I dig your bike! I have the 2019 I did the 16 🦷 front ⚙️, SRC upper & lower crash bars & barkbuster handguards. Very fun bike to ride, i enjoy it big time myself. 🆒📽️ Glad you're enjoying yourself

Any given Adventure Rider reviewing bike: "Buddy, check it out - here's my windscreen, oh here's my footpegs, and here's my tool case!" "so... how do you like the bike?" "oh yeah good good... but here, check out this aftermarket exhaust can!" "so... have you had any problems with the b-" "Look I dropped it again! This is fun, let's go!" (just razzin with ya, that's a great setup you have)
I really like your videos. I do have a question. How do you find driving on gravel roads with the 17 front wheel? I was set on getting a 2022 with the 19 inch front wheel but found a good deal on a 2017 and plan to do 60 % pavement and 40 gravel road
I haven't done enough off roading to give you an accurate assessment of each tire but I will say that over washboards the 21inch wheel is a lot smoother than the 17inch one. If you watch my Oregon video where I road the Alvord Dessert my bike was literally being shaken apart by the washboards but on the Tiger it's been much smoother.
I bought this one. www.pipewerx.co.uk/webshop/honda/cb500-x-2013-onwards/pipe-werx-gp3-race-exhausts/honda-cb500x-2013-onwards-pipe-werx-powder-black-round-gp3-race-exhaust/ Love the sound of the bike with it!!
That Canadian import tax duties on ordering things via mail is so ridiculous. I used to live on the US/Canadian border, and you won’t believe how many Canadians have a private Postal Box to order things on Amazon etc, to avoid duties. They drive across the border, pick up the packages, and drive it home across the border without claiming it. The also by milk and gas while they are in America. It’s worth it if you are close to the border. 👌🏻🇺🇸
I had the same issues with my footpeg and boots. Took me so long to find something that worked but I ended up with the Dainese Fulcrum GT boots which aren't as protective as an adventure boot admittedly but they are fantastic. Aiming to get a CB500x soon! Thanks for the walkthrough on yours!
In case anyone else thinks that limiting your choice of boots is necessary in order to get under the gear shift lever - there are two barrel nuts on the shifter linkage, with opposite hand thread. Using those barrel nuts, you can make the shifter linkage shorter or longer, thereby raising or lowering the shifter
Thanks for your video! How do the swm footpegs hold up up till now? Do you still like them? It looks like they stick out quite a bit wider, so I would like to know whether the boots can still have a good contact with the bike's frame while standing off road.
I did adjust the shifter but still struggle to get my toe under it. Maybe my boots are too new and need to be broken in a bit but I find it really stiff and not flexible enough to shift properly.
@@AnthonyJoh I tried to break my pair according to the video below, but I was not happy with the result. I guess you just have to live with it and use the whole leg instead of the foot in order to change the gear. But hey, worth sacrificing comfort for safety :) th-cam.com/video/C3T-FpNBf7k/w-d-xo.html

That was an excellent accessory review. The windscreen and foot peg multi shots were awesome 👌. Very cool bike bits and very informative. Well done 👏

That's great! The red & black combo looks amazing.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do this, very informative.
Just having fun! Love your vids mate 😁 keep it up! Kudos 🇨🇦🇵🇭
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for that interesting video. I have the Japanese version which is the 400x. I went through a lot of the same processes with Chinese parts etc.
Great job, Anthony! Looking forward to more!

@@AnthonyJoh I can fit Alpinestars Victory boots under the OEM shifter once I adjusted the shift rod. Definitely works.

Hello from Vancouver, I'm thinking about buying this bike myself !
Hello from Brazil! Your video is awesome thank you so much to share!
Thanks for watching!
Man the all black 500X is a nice color.
I like your style!
Thank you! Cheers!
you gotta quit buying stuff. I have 29000 miles and ive only just now put on crash bars.
Ah come on, everyone is different. I know people that buy bikes to mainly mod them. And fair play to them
wow great! very good recommendations!

Nice video, do the givi crash bars attach to the frame or engine?
They attach to the engine. If you watch the Colorado video you'll see where the bolt broke off while still in the engine!

How is the Pelican box mounted. Have similar set up there but straps each time. Assuming you have drilled and bolted?
Yes it's drilled to a mounting plate.

Yes, it is.
no links for anything?

Nice - been considering this but I’m concerned it will be too small for me… I’m 6’3”
I’m 5’10 and I find it a bit small. Ok for off-road but not great for pavement.
where did you get the beak extension? looks better with it...
The plastic part in front of the headlight? The comes stock on the bike.
How easy was it to fit the engine protection bars ?
Wasn't that hard. The instructions were fairly easy to follow.
You know you can adjust the shifter position?! 😬
Yes, it takes less than 5 minutes, and saves a lot of money :D I Had the same problem with the same boots (sidi adventure 2)

How is the nanuk case attached?
Bolted to a mounting plate.
@@AnthonyJoh im not familiar with the nanuk box, was it designed with holes for you to bolt it to the mounting plate or its DIY?
@@ms.motopov568 It's DIY. The Nanuk box doesn't have any holes so I had to drill it and then mount it to the holes in the plate.
Thank you.

hows the right side pannier and the exhaust?
Lots of space. The exhaust does shoot up towards the bottom of the case a bit but when moving it doesn't get too hot.
