I'm glad i checked comments cuz i was " WAIT a min! U want me to full rev the motor 10-20 secs? Ona a reset?" i gotta research if he meant ign in key 2-run but motor off
I have a 2013 jeep wrangler jk unlimited. After alternately getting many of the symptoms of bad TCM I tried several methods of resetting the TCM. They all seemed to temporarily help but not fix the problem. After implementing Method 2 battery disconnection as described here my TCM is working perfectly. The only thing I did in addition to what's described is turning the driving and fog lights on after disconnecting the battery. This helps purge the system even more in my opinion. I turned all lights back off before reconnecting battery. I connected the power lines lightly with a needle nose vice grip for a little more than 10 minutes. I also waited a little more than an hour after reconnecting everything before cranking the engine. Now working with no problems. Thank you Honest Mechanic Colorado!!!
Just want to make an update. This did temporarily fix my TCM problem. Nevertheless the hard shifting and staying stuck in a gear problems eventually returned after doing some hard accelerations. I ultimately had to replace my TCM to solve the problem.
I have a 2017 Dodge Challenger and I do not understand this reset with the acceleration pedal method. I did see the correction comment for the "On" and not run the motor when the pedal is pressed down. I get that. Though is "On" actually "Run" without the engine running? There's only three modes to my Challenger; "Off", "Acc", and "Run." But what do you mean by the "tachometer sweeps once"? Nothing happened to my tachometer when I followed these steps. What am I missing?
If the engine is running you can't put your gas pedal to the floor. It could blow the engine. If you hold the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor for 15 seconds
The dodge journey 2016 I have with R/T whatever that means. It’s a v6 .3.6 variant and it has a negative post on the shock wall and the positive has like 3 different wires stacked on top each on the post.
I just did a same engine,3.5 to 3.5 swap. Used the new engine wiring harness as it looked fine. Now it has transmission issues it didn't have before(undrivable), thinking fluid was low, I added two quarts of fluid, can that be the issue? I also have a hand ful of transmission codes.
I’m not a mechanic but when my trans was leaking I always had to be within .5 of a pint or less , otherwise it would tweak I had also bought a dipstick cause my car doesn’t have one. Changing the fluid might be worth a try I would get a new filter as well, my cars a dodge charger and it takes 7 pint I only added 5 because i only got 5 out of it there will be some you can’t get
That code can be triggered by a bad battery cell which will stop you from starting the vehicle. Try jump starting the vehicle or replacing the battery.
@HonestMechanicChannel your instructions clearly say ”turn engine on”. You want us to hold redline in neutral for 15-20 seconds? Instead of doubling down on your bad instructions, make sure you say things correctly. The procedure is to ”turn the IGNITION switch to on, but don't crank or start the engine.”
Method 1 is wrong, do not press your accelerator all the way down with the engine running. That is very bad. Instead, you turn the vehicle to the on position without the engine running and then you press the accelerator all the way down for 30 seconds.
I made a small mistake, I meant the engine should be "On" but not running for the gas pedal reset method. Apologies for this.
Dude what??

I blew my engine! No not really

Will the tach still sweep? Is that a sign the reset is complete ?

@@842king4has the new TCM fixed the problem or are any of those problems back?

Having issues in my 392 2018

Wondering if this applies to dodge journey as well
It would if you have the 63TE trans.
What if your scan tool can't read\connect with your ecm or TCM?
It works ! Thanks for your advice !!!!

Same here, did a 3.6 swap, now the transmission won't shift
You have to get your TCM reprogrammed using the Dealer Style Scan tool @@puroarmendariz1068
My tach didn't sweep
Hello sir please help me, I have a 2010 dodge journey and have an error code P0700, P0883, what should I do for repair? I'm from Indonesia. Thank you
What if it is stuck in drive? And the engine doesn’t cut off?
Im getting a code U0100 and all it does is click and wont turn the engine on.

@@mr.emptymoneybags7929, I got a new battery still nothing, just clicks when I push the break and push button
Does not work on 08 dogde caliber
Isn't that harsh on the engine with it running to hold the floor pedal down for 10 to 15 seconds
The engine should be on "On" also known as accessory mode not running

Be careful if your vehicle has auto stop and start because on a 2016 Dodge Durango it has two batteries
