I've got a hethel yellow Elise. It's a brilliant classic colour that attracts attention without being flash. The bugs do land on it, but the solution is to get in and mash the go pedal then they get off.
Privacy glass looks very nice with top black pack since the black continues from the roof down the rear window and looks ace if you have a light colour car like yellow

      @Life411  ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, I wasn't aware Hethel Yellow was a pre-existing color. Do you have any pictures you can share? That would have come in really handy early on before I was able to see and drive a Hethel Yellow Emira. Thanks for watching!

My planned spec:v6 manual, sport chassis, vivid red, lower black only, red brake calipers, black wheels, eagle f1 superport tires, red/black all leather option interior, home link.

Add the factory option vehicle tracker, imho you can vinyl wrap teh roof if you agonise over top black pack paint option (save a couple grand).
PPF and ceramic coating are after-delivery options, so are V6 2GR-FE alloy baffled sump (Simply Sports Cars Australia make one for the Exige, same engine). There's stuff like a lightweight flywheel at MonkeyWrench Racing ((USA) for this engine, and so on.

Just finalized my order a few days ago. My Emira will be my daily car. So it will be the First Edition, V6 auto, touring chassis, nimbus grey, black pack, privacy glass, homelink, diamond cut rims, and yellow brake calipers. The interior will be black leather seats and wheel with grey contrast stitching. And yes, I did choose the V6 auto, again it will be a daily car. Bulletproof engine, and I love the supercharger as it won't have lag unlike the I4 turbo.
If you live in an area that is mostly hot, I do recommend leather seats and especially leather steering wheel. I am not a big fan of the bright leather seats, as they are very hard to keep clean. I see you chose hethel yellow, I still think the yellow brake calipers will still look good. But you do make a good point about the brake dust, I like to fully clean my cars 2-3 times a week so I'm fine with the yellow brake calipers. If you dont want to clean as much, then black brake calipers will be good. I personally do not like red brake calipers, it is very common. I like the privacy glass. Yes, it hides the engine, but it also tints the small side windows. So people won't be able to see if there's anything in the back of the seats. My Emira will be my first car with a black roof, and people say that black roofs easily get scratched. So I will be putting a full body xpel ppf. I have never driven or even seen the Emira in person, so I can't say which chassis or tires will be better for you.
I did my final order in front of a Lotus car salesman. He said the top 3 colors that a lot of people chose are hethel yellow, seneca blue, and numbus grey. Diamond cut rims are also the number 1 that people choose. He also said that Lotus might be considering removing the vehicle tracker here in the United States, and any customers who checked vehicle tracker will be refunded. It is said that the vehicle tracker is not working properly.
But I am very lucky. I put my allocation for the Emira in April 2023. They expected my Emira to be arriving in October of next year. One individual backed out in the same dealership, and we have identical specs of the Emira. If I understand it correctly, his spec was already in the Lotus system(like all the parts are already in the factory or something like that), so since we have identical specs my dealership called me and said I can take his spot for $7,500. Now I cannot change anything on the car if I wanted to, I just basically took his car. I did just that, and now my car will start its building process in 2 weeks. Takes approximately 45 days to finish. Then the shipping from Uk to here in FL is what decides if it will arrive around Christmas of this year or January or February of 2024.

I’d go for the all bright red exterior with black interior & red stitching, touring suspension & 6 speed manual stick shift V6 engine & silver wheels & touring chassis suspension. I don’t think you’d go wrong with these and it will always be in demand. Any other color interior will look ugly

Harrys Garage has just gone over the i4 model, and there were some interesting quirks mentioned. One of those things is those models will have engine covers completely covering up the engine bay, more like the porsche cayman.

  • @alfaromeo.614
    @alfaromeo.614 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I’m kind of limited with those color options as I already have reds, variants of yellows and greens in my stable.
Blue unfortunately in most markets devalues the quickest. I’ve actually watched a dealer take money off a trade because it was blue-at least in those hues offered by Lotus.
If they offered Gulf blue, I might be persuaded there. I too liked the orange from the past Lotuses.
I like the silver option; it’ll hold value, but I’m also tired of black and red interiors (owned 3 cars in four years with red interior, and it gets old quickly).
If you’re playing it safe calculating all things you’re considering, striking color for an entry exotic, value, ease to keep and looking clean, I think the yellow + black pack + black calipers + diamond cut wheels and black interior checks all the boxes.
It’ll stand out, won’t get dinged on resale and has an element of exclusivity that’ll turn heads; but also subtle aggressiveness that can be appreciated.
I too had a preorder in but the waiting game was ridiculous, and coming off the heels of having two 2021 QV orders canceled on me by Alfa, I backed out.

If I was going to get the yellow, I'd spec the exterior the way you did. And I agree about the interior - at least as far as leather goes. I'd probably take the brown but that's just me. The privacy glass - nope. From the pics I've seen it means that the quarter window and the back window are darker - harder to see the supercharger from the outside, and the rear quarter window looks a little weird blacked out. But that's just me.

  • @dventura15

I’m also going black pack with privacy glass delete. I think the privacy glass blends nicely with the black pack but I think it looks a lot better from the side without the privacy glass. Also I like the view of the V6 supercharger without the privacy glass. Another factor I’d potentially consider differently if going with the i4 for example. I’m not a yellow car person but I think the yellow is one of the best colours. Love the new silver you’re considering as well and I’m tempted by it slightly. Personally would go black pack with yellow but not silver and not a fan of red seats with the yellow. I’m going alcantara knowing I’m going to have to be really careful and clean when getting in so I think leather makes sense for you! First instinct on callipers with the yellow car would be the yellow but I don’t think there’s a bad option there. Again on the Cup2, warm weather where you live but as a daily driver those could be quite problematic in the wet and cool NC mornings in December/January.

You want to think about trapped heat, under that glass engine case. The glass is going to significantly raise the workrate of heat removal solutions designed in. That said, the glass is also heavy, if there's an aftermarket carbon louvred rear tailgate swap-in like the later Exiges (the years that never made it onto the US market) that's what you want.

Congrats! I’ve been given a heads up I may be getting my call soon. I’m in a busy city with bad roads and the sport suspension test drive was shocking as it was less jarring on bumps than my E-Class cabriolet. That gave me good reassurance in going sport unless it was a daily driver which is also why I’m going manual. Apparently it’s harsher with the Cup 2 but I’ve been told those wont perform any better outside of tracking the car unless it’s perfect temps so I think sport with Goodyear is a good combo. Daily driver or I’d probably look at i4 with touring and Goodyear. If it was purely for track and lap times I’d probably be going i4 with sport and Cup 2. I’m going V6 manual with sport and Goodyear for fun weekend driver. Doubt I’d take it out on a rainy day but at least won’t have to worry if a sudden storm hits with the Goodyears and apparently they have double the tread life.

I should add, the daily driver i4 comment is based on living in a city like mine with traffic probably worse than downtown LA, so manual is awful when constantly in bumper to bumper traffic. If I lived somewhere that didn’t have bumper to bumper traffic and was going to daily drive it then I would be going with the manual. Odd coincidence - I just heard you talking about the tracker and thinking I’m going to need some sort of one where I live and have had tons of car thefts recently, unlike where my vacation home is in Pinehurst NC! I’m heading there this weekend via Raleigh on Sunday. I almost should have ordered mine out there as I was July 8, 21 deposit and still fingers crossed on making the cut for V2 where I am in Canada.

I've never owned a lotus before, so this will be my first one if I ever get one.
Chassis: I have a hard time imagining most people not getting this as at least a second car that isn't for commuting, so to me it doesn't make sense to get this car with anything less than sport, however I have heard repeatedly that sport suspension itself is only 5% stiffer than tour. I also currently drive a car daily with a stiffer Bilstien shocks, so I would imagine that would be a closer ride quality to past more hardcore cars. Based on what I've heard about previous Lotus cars, I would imagine you could handle this car with the sport chassis.
Colors: I plan on vivid red myself, I think colors like silver is too tame for a car body like this does the car a disservice. I think most people interested in these cars will choose black, white, or the vibrant colors, so i think silver will hurt resale desirability, The pro to silver is it doesn't draw anywhere near as much attention, which is better for a car you want to drive daily, but I personally will just deal with the extra attention, as my personal car now is bright red. Weirdly here in northern California, I have noticed a certain type of bug that gets attracted to my red car seasonally, and I don't know why.
Black Pack or not i think wont affect resale value.
Calipers: Maybe go with black or silver calipers for a color contrast unless if you get black wheels, but i think calipers should match or contrast the car.
Interior: i don't think high maintenance alcantara is worth buying unless you intend to track the car, so i guess black interior is the safest option for maintenance and resale value. I do think the tan interior because it's darker than the typical supercar beige, I think it might work with the yellow, but it might not be as popular for resale.
Trackers: no matter what will require a subscription, so you can't get around that unless you want to use something like one of those battery powered apple trackers.
Window tint: i would get the windows tinted separately since you can't choose what to have tinted. do it separately and you could have the separation glass behind you tinted, as well as the side windows etc, but leave the back one alone so the engine can still be seen.

@@Life411 I would like add a small note. The reason I suggest going for a color that isn't silver that you like is because there's another channel I watch that has evolved being the normal guy diy channel like where yours is starting out, into selling Ferraris. And they learned by experience that Ferraris in silver just don't sell very well or aren't desirable on the second hand market. So the colors that Lotus is most known for might be among the most popular in the distant future. And in all my exposure to lotus, the colors I think of most are all the vibrant ones as well as white and black.

I am also choosing the yellow exterior paint, so it will be the first ever yellow car for me which is kind of risky but definitely worth it! Originally I wanted the upper black pack but after seeing one and driving it in person I decided against it, as to my opinion it made the car look smaller and less noticeable! Privacy glass is of course a big No No since it darkens the main attraction that is the mid mounted V6 engine which is a very special feature of Emira. It is nice to have some contrast color to the interior, black is just a no brainer and basically playing it safe, so maybe red!? I will also need to send my configuration soon! Good luck.👍🏻

Hethel Yellow is a great color. While I love red, I am not crazy about either of the red choices on the configurator so I would lean towards yellow. As far as the black pack, it is hard to say because I actually really like both choices. I could go either way, but the upper black pack looks very good, so good choice there. I would likely go for yellow calipers. While it is not an exact match of the yellow on the body, it does blend well with the yellow theme. If I did not go yellow, then I would opt for red calipers because I do tend to like red calipers, but I also like picking a color theme and sticking with it as well, so I really lean toward yellow.
As far as the seats, I agree that black leather will look good with the yellow car and the upper black pack. I would be tempted to go with the red though. I think either is a good choice and you give very good reasons for getting the black leather.
I probably would get the window tint. One reason is the eastern NC heat. Another is that it will look good with the upper black pack. Hopefully it will not be so dark that you can't see the engine, but I do not know about that. I can understand not wanting to block the view so this a a tough one. If it was the 4 cylinder I would tint for sure, because the view is not good anyway, but in your case I can see why you would not want to block the view.
I do have an old yellow jeep, but I have no idea if it attracts bugs or not.

😂 regarding the Jeep attracting bugs or not. Thanks for all Your great thoughts on this. A lot of it confirms my thinking. The test Emira that I drove had red interior and it was stunning, so the fact that you mentioned it tells me it's not totally off the wall to have a yellow with red interior and red calipers Calipers. That said, I probably still stick with black interior and maybe the yellow calipers. I like your thinking on sticking with a color theme, although black calipers would also stick with the black and yellow theme. Thanks again for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Guys I now have driven the Emira with the touring suspension / auto trans. At first I liked the suppleness over the city bumps and freeway undulations. But once I hit the twisty roads I noticed some unwanted yaw movements and wobbling, also the car would dive a bit too much under hard braking. For me the sport suspension is the right choice. I’m not even sure if 5% firmer is going to be enough because Unfortunately my drive in the sport suspension was not so extensive. I would still choose the sport for myself because I felt that the touring was not planted enough. My comparative judgment is based on a AMG GT which is very firmly sprung.

Also, Yellow is very nice and will sell well if you decide to sell the car later but since you are getting the V2 you may want to choose a color that differentiates your car from the first generation. It was so hot in the car during summer time because of the rear glass. If it was in tint, it could actually help & cut down on the heat.
