Yeah in the time since making this tier list the biggest thing I've debated on is literally making a Seth tier and just removing him from consideration, as he is without contest the best unit in Sacred Stones by a significant enough margin that no other unit can really be considered his equal, at least with the whole game in consideration.
I always train Ross -- he solos the game as soon as he promotes. He's S tier for me lol :D. Also Joshua is my favorite character but I understand B tier 🥲
I'm not sure how much these units are rated within their teirs but I have some disagreements. I think Ross and Dozla are too high. I think Ross should be near the top of C tier. He is good when trained but even after being trained he doesn't have combat that warrants A tier imo. Dozla is a unit that I love, mostly for his personality. But his 9 base speed really brings him down. If he had a higher base speed I could see him higher than C tier but C is where I'd put him. One last nitpick but I'd place Rennac up in low to mid C tier. There is still things to steal, like a Draco shield in ch 17. He also can help get desert treasure which you left out. The only other nitpick I have is I'd put Garcia in C tier. Ross below Garcia and Joshua below both of them.
I don’t really get how Garcia is better than Ross. The hatchet makes it fairly easy to train him up to a pirate, and his ability to cross water and get into mountains helps on quite a few maps. Garcia is usually too slow to one round anything, and in my experience he doesn’t really offer much except early game durability. Ross has more utility, plus he has a fairly early access promotion item with low competition
@@Sentient_Blob The reason I rate Garcia higher is because even when Ross is trained, Garcia remains better for quite some time. If you use them at the same frequency Ross doesn't outshine his dad until he promotes into a berserker imo. How you rank them really depends on how much you value early Vs late game. I think that Garcia generally gives more contributions with less investment than Ross.

If you use both around the same amount, Ross will only really be beating his dad towards the endgame, but most of the game Garcia will have better stats. The main way Ross will become better if is you only use Ross and don’t use Garcia. I don’t think Garcia is that much better than Ross but I do think he is better.
Same, dude. Same. Love the little scrub so much, had so much fun messing around with him as my first ever summoner, but gosh dangit when you try to level him without going to the tower it just doesn't work.
I dunno why every time I play this game tana surpasses vanessa in stats pretty fast despite being lower level. I actually got to the point in my recent playthrough to bench vanessa and just stuck with tana and cormag after cormag joined. I wasted an angelic robe on vanessa too :(
Benching Vanessa is good in its own ways. Most of what makes Vanessa good is investing a ton in her early, but a lot of that is the stat boosters the game loads you up with early on. If you just use Vanessa for utility, you can funnel the exp she would be fed to Franz, while pretty easily replacing her with Tana, because the only edge Vanessa has over her is more speed when both characters have overkill speed and more skill when neither of them are lacking. The hardcore community just likes Vanessa in the same way the casual community likes Amelia. Heavily overrated and very much so underplay any of the comparable units. Because they often point out you can grind Vanessa first, but that really doesn't make Tana underperform once you have her, and that doesn't consider your gonna have other units be weaker to get Vanessa that strong that early. If you bench Vanessa you funnel that investment into other characters and you still end up with a flier that can carry with better HP, str, and luck on average, the same speed, defense and resistance. Vanessa only has a few points more skill over that, and Tana will grow faster with the same investments from chapter 9 and up because she will be boosted fighting enemies that reward more exp. She's an identical reward to using Tana at a higher cost. Unless your shooting for a personal best LTC, Tana is just a better option. Even in LTC, there is very little gained from using her early that way.
Ross is my S tier. He can kill everything with the crit bonus and HIGH strength. I have played Sacred Trilogy and the bosses have a lot more def than the vanilla ones, so a character like he is mandatory.
honestly I would put dussel in s tier cause in excel 1 durability he was the only one who can tank enough and is not slow enough to not get double by most. he has good base and good stat growths and weapons. the only really issue is res and mabe speed. I mean hes like a lesser seth lol
Nice, fun video as always. Since one of the criteria you used was that you'd rate a unit on their best route. I always make the argument that Erika's best route is Ephraim route. She gets to auto level to 15 for free and erika does barely anything on her own route. Ephraim route erika is the AFK version. You send her away and she comes back as level 15 on time for her promotion. And you get her personal S rank sword so her combat at that point will be good
I disagree. Eirika is best on Eirika route, assuming you use her in combat. Personally I don’t think Eirika is ever amazing but on Eirika route she has the potential to be a good-meh unit, whereas on Ephraim route she is generally a pretty bad unit. Especially compared to Ephraim who is for the most part a really good unit on either route. Though maybe that’s more of Ephraim being slightly worse on Eirika route so the difference between Eirika and Ephraim is less, making Eirika seem better on that route?
Putting Ewan that low indeed is being very dismissive towards his potential, but due to what you've said about him {long training + frailty}, I understand what you mean. Ewan can totally own maps with knoll and Lyon as a necromancer, producing infinite amounts of units in all dungeons :p :D
Franz is a weird case of a growth unit who REALLY cares about their growths. Not only will he need a good amount of early exp, which is being contested by other units like Vanessa, Ross and even Seth bc he could just kill everything with an iron sword and leave nothing for anyone else, but because he has a ton of levels to gain he is kind of a lottery unit. He's basically an Amelia who starts in chapter 1 as a level 1 cav instead of a level 1 recruit in chapter 9.
Yup. Fantastic unit if you can get him there, but if you assume no tower grinding it can be pretty hard to do so. I think all units in sacred stones can be great though, so I had to put some assumptions on the tier list to make it interesting
Hi, great list! Some things to mention: 1) Franz’s early game is way too overhyped, bc his relative base combat and durability is pretty lackluster, meaning he needs babying. Id say he should be below Ephraim, because he just sorta ends up as a 2nd string paladin with worse ranks than Seth, which isn’t all that high demand, especially since Kyle and Forde are closer to level 10 and get a gaiden dedicated for training them 2) Colm should definitely be bumped down, as he essentially gets replaced by Rennac and the ocean seals are pretty rare, considering the first goes to Ross 3) Speaking of which, Rennac should move up to above Syrene as he fulfills the thieving role 4) Ewan should be at the top of E tier and Knoll should be below Joshua for the simple fact that Summoning and Healing combines for great utility is really valuable and in the case of Knoll, he can do it the moment he joins
Brudda, if your talking about babying when the green haired chick in front of him is being trained with hit rates sub 60, and gets fed 3-4 early stat boosters yet still gets put that high, idk what to tell ya. Franz easily can just run off with a vulnerary and live compared to Vanessa, Garcia and Gilliam. Let alone the others.
You fool. It's called S tier because it's Seth tier. So it's should be Seth (Seth) Tethys (can dance for Seth) and Moulder (can heal Seth first). Easily the top 3 units.
Assassins are generally not a good unit in fire emblem due to them having luck based kit and they will be useless at end games since bosses cap luck which affects crits. Typically assassins have low strength caps thats why they are pretty terrible
Like 12 times through, all difficulties, several challenge runs, using every unit at least once. Every unit is viable, there are some small adjustments I would make to the list looking back like putting Seth in his own tier, but as a whole I still feel pretty good about it.

I think you should've put Seth as s+. Literally broken from the get go, while Franz and Vanessa still needs some training.

Ross has a little bit of a slow start and needs some effort, but any trained Ross is a great Ross in my experience.
Same, My Ross became the best Berserk Axe user i had, Joshua is also brokenly good as Swordmaster

I’d say Eirika is better than Josh because Rapier can come in handy in the early game and sieglinde helps her kill monsters in lategame.

My rennac always turns out to be just as good as colm. And maybe its just my mind wanting to endlessly farm ruins but 2 rogues is always nice.

I literally watched a video of some dude soloing the last level of the ruins with Ewan as a Trainee (3rd promotion) level 20 using Nosferatu

Artur is my s tier. I turned him into a Sage and gave him S Anima, and he wrecked everything with his magic and speed stats
