@@nexuzinnovation-com mainstream console manufacturers use these types of minis to keep people interested in their respective games and use the information to decide what hot and what's not. Besides, there are many Chinese knockoffs that does relatively the same thing. If Sega, Nintendo or playstation want to release a new mini - they can and I guarantee you it will be a hit.

@@segamistretro8562 check if your app is not being blocked by the firewall, we have are getting over a million requests on the file server a day. We have increased the time out in a new build. Redownload the installer on the same link, install and top and try again.
@@RedCGaming Have you tried the most recent desktop app? We fixed the issue of the waiting on reboot due to a bug. If it happens again then it's usually sortable via troubleshooting and incorrect windows settings.
I wanted to surprise my parents by giving them a Sega Genesis Mini for Christmas (a reference to my childhood) but was hesitant when I saw you couldn't use the original cartridges and play games that are not pre-installed.
You pretty much just helped make my family's Christmas better! Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on this ETA, been waiting to see when the public release was. Very easy to get this working, all updated with some games I felt were needed in under 10 mins! Awesome!
Pro tip: Dont completely fill the internal storage, you need to leave about 35MB of free space minimum, otherwise it will hang when you quit a game and try to return to the main menu. Seems like it needs a certain amount of free space as a page file or scratch ram for the menu to work. I still managed to fit about 150 games though :).
I couldn't get more than 60 or the interface would freeze up (using only Lunar 1 page). Started with 100, but had to reduce and try again over and over until I hit 60. Have about 85mb left, hope newer version will allow me to page and add more

@@GregsGameRoom yup, that 35MB is assuming you don't use save states. Until we know how much space save states take up, we don't how much more space you would need to leave, but it would work out as number of roms X 4 X whatever size the save states are.
@@lovelorn88nick I just wanted to see how far you could push it without causing lockups, and anything below 35MB will. Yes save states will take up space as well, but there's a bug in project Lunar right now where if you make a save state for a game you add and delete the game after, it wont delete the save state (this doesn't affect stock games). Their planning on fixing it but for now, you shouldn't create save states for any games you have added unless your 100% sure you wont be removing them.

You forgot to include some very important pieces of information. Yes, you can use a USB flash drive or external storage. Just plug it into one of the front ports whilst Lunar is open and it will sync it. Remember do to a first time sync without any games to allow for everything to work properly the first time. Project Lunar also supports OTG, so you can plug in an OTG adapter and use your USB storage out of the back whilst retaining use of both front ports.

Worked like a charm. Added 40 games. Slightly annoying that Retroarch and PL have their own box art spaces in your games library, but I suppose that's the trade off of being able to add more games.

Thanks for your Clips, they always make interesting viewing. I tried this but unfortunately it didn't work. After a lot of mucking around though I was able to return it to the original state. I then installed Project Lunar again and this time it worked. I was only able to do this because I BACKED UP THE ORIGINAL FILES. As I had deleted and re-installed Project Lunar the files were not part of the program any more. It took a while to work out where the files should go but I got there eventually. Happy now....
So this might just be luck but the cable mine came with worked on my classic. Love your tutorials as well.

I got the Genesis mini, love it! There's some games in the mini that i don't really care and play, i wish i could delete and take them out and put my favorites in the mini lol

Pretty cool I don't have a mini yet but I mostly just use my raspberry pi instead that has a mega pi case on it only cause it can have more storage.
Same, I’ve got the entire Genesis/SegaCD/32X library available on it, but would love to make an official product do that. Waiting to see when we can add storage and Sega CD/32X
Just a quick note. I had endless issues with installing this and thought my console was messed or the cable was messed however it was my damn Antivirus. Disabled it and Project Lunar installed perfectly.

I allowed it via Windows Defender, but everytime I opened the Lunar app to start, it told me device driver isn't installed/will now be installed, but it never installed that driver. The transfer would never take place. I had to make sure to allow the app to run inside Windows Defender, and also I think Malwarebytes was blocking something as well. Closed it temporarily to run this. Worked like a charm after. Good tip! Remember, if it says it needs to install the driver, a black command prompt screen pops up to install, and takes a min or so. If it doesn't, your AV is blocking something.

Where do you get the games from? Does lunar have them when you download lunar or are they separate?
@@DMCGREEK no, you need to download ROMs or get them from someone you know. If you do a quick Google search of Sega Genesis ROMS you will find some/all of them. Good luck

Awhile back you did an awesome video for the SNES mini to add the whole library with a usb stick and an adaptor. Will that work for adding games to the genesis mini?
Hoping to score a Genesis Mini 2 when they come out, gonna use this when I get one to add Sonic 3&K.
So damn cool! I really wish I get the crap I don't want to play out of the Mini (the god awful console port of Altered Beast, Ecco, Landstalker and Light Crusader), but pre-installed games can't be removed. Otherwise though I'm more than happy with being able to add Ristar, the other 2 Phantasy Star games, Sonic 3D Blast Director's Cut, and mf Sonic 3 Complete!
I can't get passed step 5. I bought the micro USB cable from this link, I did everything right, but it just stays on the "Waiting for FEL mode". I've modded my SNES and NES mini so I've done this kinda thing before, don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Very useful for games like Sonic 3 and Ristar. Also, if you modded in a game like Sonic 3 that has a save system, would it be able to emulate those in-game saves too?
We did this first thing this morning and added about 20 games. HAD to start off by playing X-Men (so much time on that one as a kid). Tested all games throughout the day and the only issue was minor slowdown on Moonwalker when transitioning between areas/sections. Otherwise, smooth sailing.
Moral kombat 3 looks like crap
@@j3001m Mortal Kombat 3 has always had emulation problems on device like this. The AtGames system I got which had the game run the game in fast forward mode so you can't even perform special moves or fatalities. Hopefully it ran better here.

I plugged the USB cable that powers the Megadrive to My USB socket on my TV and it works so no need for a plug!

Hi I know this videos it’s about 2 years old but got my self a sega mini on a thrift shop and wanted to add some of my favorite games thanks to your video I was able to do it it took me a while trying to find the right cable but today I was able. I just wanted to point out where can I find the video you mention about adding emulator to it while using a usb it would help a lot if you can point me to the right direction thanks for the help!!

ETA Prime: Shadow of the Beast doesn’t fully work, the collision detection is off so your invincible to most enemies attacks, and can only die by falling. The sequel works fine though, Great video as always ;)
Maybe try the rom from another region for the same title?
@@allenfrisch The Japanese version is down on the comparability list as having the same issue, though I had this problem with the EU rom.

Hello! I recently added Project Lunar and games to my Genesis Mini. However when I select Project Lunar from the boot menu.
Nothing else happens. Just a blank screen. The console is on, but nothing loads after I press A to start Project Lunar.
Have I done something wrong in the adding or installation process?
I’ve connected a 1Tb drive to the back of my Genesis mini with every single Sega game from all their consoles. The Project lunar boots up but then crashes. Is this because of the limit of games? Is there any way around this?

Works perfectly, even easier than the nes/snes mini hack, used the snes usb cable, the only game that didn’t work is sonic 3, kept stating error then returned back to the lunar menu.
I have sonic 3 USA version running perfect. Try a new ROM.
I tried the eu version, but will try the USA.
@@DJGillman unless you are on a mega drive mini probably won't work with eu rom

My Genesis crashes after I've turned the higher CPU speed switch to on. Strange that yours does not. After I restarted the Genesis mini and go into the game selection screen the screen suddenly goes green after a few seconds. I can't do anything except resetting the Genesis and turn off the higher CPU speed.

Just added games thanks... Some of the games dont work, it gives an "E4" message and system resets. Does this mean rom is no good and find another ?

Had some sound issues on certain NTSC games. The curse of PAL regions . E4 error pops up from time to time . Still chuffed some games look amazing in HD .

I need help please, I installed the Project Lunar app and I already have it on my laptop along with the other zip files from the official website (ProjectLunar-86 and x64)
but every time I open the application installed on my laptop it sends me the message "An unexpected error occurred"
The same thing happens if I try to add a game from zip files 84 and x64, when I choose a Rom and click on Add game it immediately throws me the same message
