It's a Valentine's project that will make an awesome Valentine's gift. It's also a beginner level sewing tutorial anyone can follow easily.
This is the ultimate sewing project with scraps that is both fun and easy to make, even if it's the first time you're sewing.

Bummer about your machine but on the bright side, if you have had problems from the start with it maybe now is a good time for it to have an overhaul and fix it all up. Love the mug rug and the ribbon idea is great. I have mug rugs all over my coffee table. Guess there will be another one coming along one time. haha
