If you're numbering scale degrees, why didn't you call that first note in the chord Db instead of C#???? I know that they're enharmonics, but be consistent & call the one Db & the two Eb OR call the one C# and the two D# to minimize confusion. Have the conversation in FLATS or in SHARPS, but DON'T UNNCESSARILY mix both when climbing the ladder like that.
I understand your concern. My teaching is based on real world Gospel experience. In Gospel music there isn’t a rule about using all sharps or all flats, but I do teach both in the very beginning to eliminate confusion. I’m consistent in how I call the notes, but I don’t call all sharps or all flats. If you find this confusing then I would highly recommend mastering your piano notes.
Perfect. I'm with you on not knowing the words but can play the tunes. Bass guitar and piano but learning from you!! Thank you!!
Most definitely. You’re welcome!
Thank you and God bless you
