    If you're numbering scale degrees, why didn't you call that first note in the chord Db instead of C#???? I know that they're enharmonics, but be consistent & call the one Db & the two Eb OR call the one C# and the two D# to minimize confusion. Have the conversation in FLATS or in SHARPS, but DON'T UNNCESSARILY mix both when climbing the ladder like that.

      I understand your concern. My teaching is based on real world Gospel experience. In Gospel music there isn’t a rule about using all sharps or all flats, but I do teach both in the very beginning to eliminate confusion. I’m consistent in how I call the notes, but I don’t call all sharps or all flats. If you find this confusing then I would highly recommend mastering your piano notes.
