I've just bought myself a keyboard because I've wanting to play piano for so long. Everytime I hear a piano sound or someone playing piano I get excited by it's sound, weird but it's true. I'm in my sixties and I do enjoy your lesson. It's so much knowledge and you're such a patient teacher. Thank you. My reason for learning is to play worship songs. I love worshipping The Lord and I really want to sing and play lots of melodies for The Lord. God bless everyone watching this video. 🙏 for more knowledge and fast learning of new skills and techniques. 😊
Hi I had a hip op 2 years ago and my son bought me a kids keyboard from a charity shop. I am still very much learning and have been learning tunes from on line piano tutorials with the letters. Of course this means I have not given so much attention to reading actual sheet music. Also still struggling with using both hands together. BTW my favourite classical piece is The Dream of Olsen from the film While I Live. I first heard it when aged about 9 and have loved it ever since. Happy playing everyone!,
Me too I want to play worship songs for the Lord. That inspiration came to my mind after attending church service and the musicians could not make it. I purchased a keyboard and did not even receive it yet. It sounds a lot but with God grace and practice I will learn it.
Nothing weird about getting excited over hearing a piano being played...it's a very endearing instrument for sure! Just purchased my first piano keyboard at the age of 52. Happy learning to you!!

So having retired with time to filI, I started looking at types of keyboards. I bit the bullet strsight away and brought a Roland digital fp 30. with fully weighted 88 keys. This was an expensive risk, but I didnt care. After just 2 months, I find I can already produce melodic patterns, including a basic blues bass riff, and now there is an inner desire to learn more. Then last week, after a lot of you tube surfing, I stumbled on this video. Its the perfect tool, Ive wstched it from start to finish a couple of times, and now I dip in at random on bits I think I need to work on. You see, I think a lot of people who self teach in this way become put off by the thousands of videos and methods out there, as they all concentrate on one aspect at a time. People get bored and they hop over to another video, and realisticslly its becsuse they cannot fathom how it all fits together to make them become the type of player that they yearn to be. In my view, this video suns up in one go how the keyboard works, and it gives you all the tools for the job straight away so you can decide for yourself where you need to go with your skills. To know how scales, keys and chord progressions work are all essential skills from the start. Im not really bothered about just learning tunes parrot fashion, as without the theory to back it up, that will be all you can play. Im already loving my new hobby, and wish id started years ago. @CoreyLennox I just found your channel, and what that comment said, I totally agree. You have obviously thought a lot about how to teach this stuff in a modern way. It really works for me so far. Pretty sure I will take your course.

This has been the best explanation/ lesson I have found. thank you so much for your patience and not making it sound complicated. I’m an older learner.
Been making music for 2 decades and already learned a few things in the first 10min. Your approach to teaching this is the best I have come accross Cory. Liked and subbed.
Dea Corey, thanks for your very nice methodology. I have 70 years old, know nothing about playing piano, nada 😀. I bought a piano and I choose your method and I love it. I have to repeat the first 30 minutes in order to reinforce, and of course, practicing as I go. Wow, I am watching this 6 am on Christmas Day I have recently retired and have started to learn piano. I bought my keyboard three weeks ago, and in that time I have watched hundreds of videos on how to play. I’m so glad I found this one it is by far the best and easiest to follow. You’re fantastic as a teacher I’ve learned more from this one video than watching hundreds of videos on TH-cam.
This is, by far, the easiest to understand and totally enlightening for beginners. I was so frustrated that I couldn’t understand what to do, but with your video everything becomes easy and clear. I will for sure get your 30 days course as well. Thank you!
Just watching thus video to when you show how to play a few major chords, I'm already picking up and singing different songs. This is literally the best learninh video out there.
So clear so EASY and all following correct music theory. Great results from the begining so encouraging - you need to meet around the keyboard with all these chords and you can learn theory and music reading and playing later - all becomes much more meaningful and simplified.

Just bought a Yamaha EZ 300 keyboard to see if I can learn basic playing at 68 years old Patience and practice just hand movements scale practice and learning the major and minor Chords and key layout will be enough for a week or two less haste more progress, thank you for you excellent instruction if in 6 months I can play simple music I will be so happy thanks
This is brilliant and allows me to map out a learning path for myself. My brain needs to have the big picture and a map to understand what I need to practice and learn. I couldn’t cope with beginner methods as they don’t give me a sense of where I’m going with them. This video does! Thank you!
I loved this!!! I literally just got a new keyboard (like now) and started looking for videos on YT for beginners. Watched a few but wasn't really into their teaching method but oh wow thank goodness I came across yours. This video encourages me to learn, you teach with such patience. Thank you!!! Will be here in your channel for a while
Nothing relaxes me more than listening to you play the piano. I'll continue to watch the video again & again. Thank you for making it so simple so anyone can learn. God bless you.❤
Corey you are a great teacher. Walking us through step by step, making difficult concepts simple, making us feel confident, then humbling us to keep us on track (40:10 - 42:30) 😆 🤣
I've had questions burning away in my mind for a long time. You answered so many in this video. I took notes on all the things that resonated with my current knowledge and will gladly come back after loads of practice. You did really well at explaing what to do, where it fits in learning and playing over time and like others have said I also feel hopeful. Now practicing the basics feels like it has a purpose and im excited for the skills that will come of it.
@@FerrymanBoylesque So glad to hear it! Yeah I think the biggest problem is so many people don’t explain a way to actually contextualize and use this information, so I really wanted this to be different and more helpful 🙌🏻
Man this finally made sense. I found another of your videos on music theory because I’m learning bass and out of all the videos and books I read you explained everything so well. That video lead me here and now I’m shopping for a keyboard lol. Thank you so much.
Hi Corey, If one should have named your video it could be: From beginner to master in one hour. Wow! It is amazing. I don't have a keyboard yet and was wondering could I find a video on TH-cam to let me start and here I am watching your awesome video for a few days because I wanted to absorb every second of it. You explained it in such a way that no matter how old you are it gives you the courage, confidence, knowledge and practices to start playing piano. You've put everything that a beginner needs to know and learn piano and music in your video. How a video could be complete as this! The next I'm gonna do is to rewatch the video and create a practice sheet and plan based on all the topics and skills you teach and also buy my first keyboard. And man you have such a warm and beautiful voice both when talking and when singing. ❤

@CoreyLannox I have no music background. My keyboard was gathering dust( on the cover :)) It just occurred to me why not give it a try! I played many TH-cam videos but I am sure this one is gonna do me good! Thanks.
Such a great video! I have been self teaching through YT (played for years as a child) and this was a great recap to see where I am in my relearning…….plus I learned some new tips and techniques. Thank you so much for sharing this ❤
Loved the video. I am a beginner learning using the Simply app and it's been fun. I always like to mix theory and practice while learning. This video helped clarify both in a really fun and informative way. I will probably go for your course after a bit, after developing my basics a bit more. I am sure your course can help me take my skills to the next level.
I have been learning piano for years. I know scales, basic chords, arppergios, I have tried to practice exercises from hanon but my progress is been very slow. I definitely will try using the Alfreds adult method book . Thank you for your lessons.
I have been playing for 2 years started on a P121 and now has the P525 and love to practice everyday min 20 min most days 1 or 2 hours. Looking at TH-cam videos of piano playing and music theory the hole time. Your explaining was byfar the absolutley best way! I whis i found it earlier! I will use this from now on. I use Simpley piano app and love it. It makes learning 10 times easeyer then a book. I get instant correction by the tablet. When i read notes. I can play 100 of songs really bad but not one great. Thats because i want to learn reading music not memorize songs. So i almost always plays diffrent songs. But once again so greatfull that I have found you on youtube. Time to dive in to your content! :-)
What you say about playing by ear is 100% valid. Without proper technique, play by ear only *seems* easy. Many PbE Only instructors do not teach structure much and that leads to frustration.
This is revolutionary! Hope others realize what you've actually put together here as there is so much content! Back in the VHS tape days this would be deliberately spralled out over a lengthy series that would cost big time!! You deserve millions of subscribers I plan to contribute!
Thank you for this video. The things you said made so much sense. When I was looking for videos to teach me I came across this one and I enjoyed the way you explained things and your voice was easy to listen to. Since I purchased your 30 day piano I’ve been bombarded will ALL kinds of piano method ads. I thank you that you’re not sales pitchy like all these other ones. That alone makes me want to complete your class! As I do want to learn technicality while having fun. I also would like to learn to read music with the piano. I’m on your class day 9 (but I’ve only been playing piano for 4 days!… I am surprising even myself. But I do have some musical history under my belt (trumpet in high school)).
Man these social media platforms are so eerily good about targeting us haha! But yeah I really try to be as down-to-earth as I can. I never want to be click-bait-y or over-hype anything, even if I'd probably get more sales that way! I'm really glad you're enjoying the course, that makes me so happy to hear! Best wishes on your piano journey 🙏🏻
Thanks for teaching me WHY I can find a key that sounds right even though I haven't found a black key to sharpen or flatten it.A half step up sharpens &half step down flattens so this may happen on white keys.Simple explanation for what makes a CHORD major or minor. Another great video. Time flys by as I watch. Need to rewatch this over and over; so much quality content in your clear concise way of explanation, many thanks once again. Shame you don’t have PayPal or Apple Pay for your 30 day course.
Hi Corey, this was a terrific and very informative video. I took piano lessons (twice) when I was young. I am now 62 and want to try taking lessons again. Wow! You're vision of the piano is wonderful. Like many instruments I wish I could play this one. I like your presentation and layout. Do you have a start to finish DVD program? I bought the Learn to play piano set for my son but it seemed much different than your style. Thx
Thank you so much Sir Corey. Salute to you for sharing your talent. And thank you for making it easy for to understand. You simplified the process on how to start learning. May the Lord bless you!!! 🔥🥰
I cannot tell you how many times your instruction has helped me just get comfortable in practicing. Some of your lessons I've been through dozens of times. Practice time, half an hour, what am I still very bad at? Okay, let's do that thing I can't do, there's a section of lesson just for that. After a few weeks, I can do it on my own, still struggling of course but I can and I've always been intimidated by music and instruments for the very reasons you describe. Didn't know the theory months ago. The real kicker for me is learning scales and like you get a sight picture using firearms, you can get a sight picture and then a feel picture for scales. That technique hugely helps in driving the scales into seemingly less the brain and more the muscle memory. Doing this has also really upped my melody and "music feel", I don't know what to call it, maybe ear. Perhaps intuition for what works and the emotion it creates. I'm so much faster at figuring out which notes sound like what because process of elimination. Find the scale and if you can, the key, roll with it until you feel that click. Those are your notes. Now figure out the rhythm. Biggest challenge among many is being comfortably ambidextrous and of course finger technique for consistency. Broken chord arpeggio is really really hard for me to do consistently. I can do it but not on the fly. But that's fine because it sounds good and feels rewarding once you "get it" at least for that little while before the conscious mind is like "hey, are you doing this right?" and that's when the whole rhythm and smoothness falls apart. Sometimes I wish I could shut the brain down and simply play but I guess just like karate, the only way to get passed that is more practice. So in an overly verbose form; thanks man. Your way of explaining this "clicks". I felt stupid at first but, I get it. I'm an old guy, not looking to go pro but yes, old people can learn new tricks with a method of learning that fits them.
For how long have you been playing the piano 😉, I read all your comment and got curious! I have started on my own a month ago straight to the Moonlight sonata 1st movement but what helps me is my yamaha clavinova csp with the streamlights but I really want to learn the basics and bring a strong foundation in playing this instrument

Thank you for this video, Corey. It was super interesting. I learned new things. Most importantly, I need to practice my scales 😊. At this moment, I'm borrowing a keyboard from my brother'them. It's got plastic keys & I don't like it. I only started playing about 2 months ago. I've been learning chords & I'm also trying to learn how to read notes.😊🩷🇿🇦
This video is fantastic thanks! I started with boogie woogie tutorials( my first time playing)about 4 years ago and I am just looking up songs that I would Ike to learn at my skill level. With songs that feel like I have memorized and gotten down, how often should I practice them to keep my "chops" up? I've got a lot of songs that I want to spend my free time learning as well. (I'm not going to worry about 7th chords!) For now...
I watch this video once a week. And, yes. I get more from it every time I watch it. I only practise on my day's off from work. Even though I should practice every day. That being said? I get more from this than all the books I've bought so far.
@@CoreyLennox Yes, Mostly being able to use my fingering in the 1 through 5 facet, as opposed to trying to pluck it out 1 finger at a each note. I still need work. But search and destroy is going to the past.

Just bought a Yamaha EZ 300 keyboard to see if I can learn basic playing at 68 years old
Patience and practice just hand movements scale practice and learning the major and minor Chords and key layout will be enough for a week or two less haste more progress, thank you for you excellent instruction if in 6 months I can play simple music I will be so happy thanks
This is brilliant and allows me to map out a learning path for myself. My brain needs to have the big picture and a map to understand what I need to practice and learn. I couldn’t cope with beginner methods as they don’t give me a sense of where I’m going with them. This video does! Thank you!
Im feeling inspired. There may still be hope for me yet. Have not really applied myself. Hoping to teach myself this year
What an amazing lesson, I am definitely buying the 30 day course you created !
Thanks for your tremendous lessons for beginners. I really enjoyed it, and I will be following up continues
Friend, thank you so much for this. This is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better and easy to follow. Thank you again and God bless.
Love from Uganda.
I loved this!!! I literally just got a new keyboard (like now) and started looking for videos on YT for beginners. Watched a few but wasn't really into their teaching method but oh wow thank goodness I came across yours. This video encourages me to learn, you teach with such patience. Thank you!!! Will be here in your channel for a while
Learning all the chords is going to take me some time. I love the way you teach. This is the 3rd time I've watched this video. Thank you so much.
I love you method of teaching. I am a slow learner and I am a visual learner. I watch over and over thanks
Nothing relaxes me more than listening to you play the piano. I'll continue to watch the video again & again. Thank you for making it so simple so anyone can learn. God bless you.❤
@@wilhelminathomas8527 That means so much!! I really hope you continue your piano journey!
@@CoreyLennox I definitely will.🙏🏾
Corey you are a great teacher. Walking us through step by step, making difficult concepts simple, making us feel confident, then humbling us to keep us on track (40:10 - 42:30) 😆 🤣
THE BEST VIDEO! everything instantly started making sense to me as a whole and how it’s all works together. now i just need to “do”. Thank you.
Best lesson I have ever watched on utube.Best teaching for beginners ever so thank you. I am subscribed 🎶🙏🇱🇷
I love this video. So well explained and easy to follow. I’ve watched it twice and will probably watch it a third time! Thanks so much!❤
Thank you for a very concise class but oh boy 3 years before I’m ok, oh well I’m 76 and I’ve always wanted to play. You have a beautiful daughter!
Fantastic and informative series, I'll be sticking to this for all my learning needs. Thank you for inspiring me.
Thank you Corey for this music lesson for bigenners.
I watch your video 3 times.and I will never tire of watching it again
Excellent. I’m very happy for your lessons. Thank you so much. Grace
Thanks I have been using u tube and your lesson is wonderful, explained it carefully even for me as a beginner, many thanks.
Man this finally made sense. I found another of your videos on music theory because I’m learning bass and out of all the videos and books I read you explained everything so well.
That video lead me here and now I’m shopping for a keyboard lol. Thank you so much.
Fantastic overview on learning to play the piano
Hi Corey,
If one should have named your video it could be: From beginner to master in one hour.
@@armanhatefi360 This is my new favorite comment haha. I’m so glad you found it useful! Comes from a lifetime of playing and teaching and just loving this instrument. Excited for you to start your piano journey!
Thanks a bunch Corey for creating such a content and for your efforts on this. Indeed you have learned piano deeply that you teach it that smooth. ❤
And thanks for your reply too 😊
❤ WOW I'm getting the difference the black and white keys have been confusing me. But now you're making everything discovered or no more Mistry. I can now spot any key on Piano keep making step bye step video like this ❤❤❤❤
You are a great teacher so clear and so patient.
Thinking about getting into piano but I’m not sure what piano to get, do you have any suggestions that aren’t too expensive but is also good? Specifically a keyboard piano
Great teacher! I just got a PSR 243.
You start from the blank position of the learner. The keys on the keyboard!
62 year old South African.
😊
Thank you for your awesome work on this video. Your daughter is so beautiful ❤
God( The Trinity) bless you, your loved ones, and your work.❤
Lots of thanks and blessings, ❤
From Canberra in Australia 🇦🇺 ❤😊
I watched the video and at 49 aI finally going to start after all those years. I know it takes years of dedication, but I feel with these courses I bought I will be able to do it.
@CoreyLannox
I have no music background.
Thank you so much for sharing this ❤
Your daughter is adorable! Awesome teaching with so much great information. Thank you sir!
Best beginners tute I have found. BRILLIANT. 😊😊
Thank you so much sr..
I'm learning piano for the 1st time all the way from sierra Leone, West Africa
What you say about playing by ear is 100% valid. Without proper technique, play by ear only *seems* easy. Many PbE Only instructors do not teach structure much and that leads to frustration.
This is revolutionary!
Hope others realize what you've actually put together here as there is so much content!
Back in the VHS tape days this would be deliberately spralled out over a lengthy series that would cost big time!!
You deserve millions of subscribers
I plan to contribute!
Have been playing the piano for 2 years but still learned quite a bit from your video!
Thank you for your time ! I’ve learned a lot. As a beginner, I’ve expected the professional level already.
Really great video man. Keep it up. Looking for next interesting videos from your channel
so as far as being a great pianist? By going to Berekley, you're also a big brain.
Thank you very much for sharing ..I am blessed… I play from the middle of Borneo island…
Hands down the best piano startup tutorial on this app. You got a sub
You’re a great teacher Cory . Thank you for this ♥️
WOW!!..brilliant way of teaching piano for beginners, thank you for doing this :)
Thanks for teaching me WHY I can find a key that sounds right even though I haven't found a black key to sharpen or flatten it.A half step up sharpens &half step down flattens so this may happen on white keys.Simple explanation for what makes a CHORD major or minor. Now I go to the piano EVERY DAY PRACTICING
You are an amazing teacher…..I love your mindset and approach to teaching🙂🙏
Thanks, I received my keyboard for Christmas and need to learn to play.
Another great video. Time flys by as I watch. Need to rewatch this over and over; so much quality content in your clear concise way of explanation, many thanks once again.
Shame you don’t have PayPal or Apple Pay for your 30 day course.
Thankyou corey. I really need video for major and minor cords
He definitely explains it really good. I’m so glad I found this video 💪🏾🙏🏽
Hi Corey, this was a terrific and very informative video.
I took piano lessons (twice) when I was young. I am now 62 and want to try taking lessons again.
I am going to follow your lessons in this tutorial video and get the book you suggested.
Where could I find lead sheets? They would be very helpful.
I think I will sign up for your online lessons as well.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent.
Your daughter is adorable 💝
I'm truly grateful that you took the time to create a FREE resource that empowers everyone who wants to learn to play the piano. Blessing to you and your family. PS: I really loved the video.
Thank you very much Corey Lennox! Super interesting!
Thank you so much…… You just got me ready for next semester, I love the way you explain the material 🎉and recap…..
Wow im really starting to see progress here. Thank you so much❤
Such a great resource! Thanks!
Thank you. By far the best tutorial I have ever seen
I am an undiluted greenhorn in this field. I am slow in getting the chords, but I will.
You just gained a subscriber..
You're super-awesome!
Thank you so much for this gift. 💞🌺
Thanks. Will keep watching over and over.
🌹What a fantastic teaching video! Blessings to you and your family! THANK YOU!🌹
This video is fantastic thanks!
That’s so great to hear!! I’m so glad you’re getting value out of this. Have you noticed any specific areas of your playing improve?
@@CoreyLennox Yes, Mostly being able to use my fingering in the 1 through 5 facet, as opposed to trying to pluck it out 1 finger at a each note. I still need work. But search and destroy is going to the past.
@@CoreyLennox To reiterate on that. I mean to say how I'm putting my pinkie finger into it. It's not easy. But, it makes a world of change.
COREY YOU ARE THE BEST THANK YOU FOR THE LESSON SO EASY TO FLLLOW
So glad I was able to help!
Fantastic! Will bookmark this to begin my studies🙏
