12 minutes of logical instruction without any unnecessary tangents makes it easier to follow. Love it. Also appreciate, as a newbie, the info on using the sustain pedal and not assuming we all know how to use it properly. Thank you!

I’m a singer-songwriter and I write my songs on the piano. I’m always looking for ways to improve my accompaniment, rhythm patterns, and stylings. This was hands down one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen on piano accompaniment for pop music. I’m subscribed and can’t wait to see more and pick your brain if possible! Thank you!

I can't afford piano lessons so I am one of theose persons who rely on TH-cam to learn, so thankfully there are people like you who are out there gracing people like me. While I am at it, I would also like to say that I have picked up some great lessons from many other teachers on TH-cam but every now and then someome comes along and take me over that next important hump and your lesson on chord inversions just did that for me with extras. These extras are what I was missing for a long time which other teachers either refused, didn't know how to or just didn't care to due to a non paid subscription or lessons and I do understand that. Everyone has to make a living some how. So thanks again for your grace have a blessed weekend

Ted, I'm a guitarist who wants to learn how to play piano. Sub divisions explained like this has helped me enormously.
Most piano teachers on youtube don't get this. They note spell a chord which is important... but more important is the " how " to make it sound like music.
You're onto something. How to make chord progressions musical by rhythmically breaking up chords and arpeggios... now your talking.
Please expand on this. It is the key to making chords become music... to become a song.
Well done mate. Hope you become a big hit on youtube. I've been waiting for years for a teacher such as yourself!

LOL, I'm also a guitarist who wants to learn piano. I don't know why I always thought it would be too hard, but a few weeks ago I suddenly realized I could probably do it. Started considering it more seriously today. I really liked how he compared things to the guitar. That was helpful. Blessings to you on your piano journey!

I've played piano since I was 9 (now in my 40s), was classically trained and then taught myself to play pop songs with guitar chords, but have not been able to get the playing to "flow" properly... it always sounds clunky to me. I tend to use melody in right hand (that's the classical training) and arpeggios in the left hand. Thank you for this tutorial, it's very helpful.

I just want to say Thanks..
    Just discovered your channel.
Not only a really good video. You have the talent to teach and simplify a concept. I like when you give example of the drum, the guitar.
I play piano since 12 years now, about 90 minutes per day, it is my passion, BUT, only improvising since a year . I should have begun improvising a lot sooner. Improvisation give opportunities while playing with lead sheet.
I discovered that improvisation help to reduce the stress while playing in a crowd. I was playing in a train station recently in Europe. I decided to improvise. Just playing music in a certain mood. Improvising is less intimidating than playing a song.
    Thanks again…

Ted, this is wonderful! Thank you for sharing this and all time and effort you put into it.
I really enjoy the way you compartmentalize the material you're presenting.
I'm sure you've seen videos with the second keyboard transposed right above the board you're playing.
Each key lights up without the players hands impeding the view.
I have no idea what it takes to get to that or to have that inlaid into your videos but it would be great to have those reference points.
It might make it easier for us students to follow along without any pausing to squint or double back.
I just want to make sure that I get across though that this lesson, and how you put this video together, is just so wonderfully helpful and I really enjoyed following along.

I like the slow and methodical way you teach, building one technique upon another. Most of this is too difficult for me, as a beginner, but I understand the concept behind what you are doing.

I really loved this lesson. I am looking for exercises that help me to learn my diatonic chords and inversions in each key. This progression helps. Thanks

Very nice brought to us. Also liked the metaphore at the end that you want us to cook our own meal instead of cooking according a recipe. Thank you for this video.

Great video and explanations! I am a struggling, self taught, beginner piano player and I have always had trouble coming up with interesting and rhythmic fills. This video will definitely give me some things to experiment with. Thanks so much!

This video is definitely a little advanced for me right now, but it’s so cool to hear you precisely name and manipulate these music conventions that my brain just intuitively recognizes from hearing so many times in different pieces of music. Awesome video.

Thanx for the tutorial. I've been playing guitar and singing for 30 years. Now I'm getting into playing the piano. Love the comparisons between guitar and piano. Think I'll give your exercices a go as I would like to start playing the guitar songs on the piano (chord based)
