Arkham is a piece of shit franchise , most overrated crap of all time , payed 10 euros for both 2 first games and feel bad about it , these games shouldnt have existed
Anonim Anonim Not really overrated.... most people really enjoyed the games.. Arkham Origins can be a letdown sure but thats mostly because it didn't try anything new and the developers didn't care about fixing the bugs. Why didn't you like the first to games?
Brah i just found this for $5 at a flea market (its a rare game now) and i have to say, its REALLY fun. They are not truly that bad and a fun way to pass the time. Sure it could be ALOT better but the level designs (as far as collectables goes) and combat keep me coming. Plus its not as short as some other 360 games ive recently played. You guys need to stop putting faith in movie tie in games. These superheros need their own game that respects the characters and has decent development time.
PJPayway I completely agree. Both this game and Amazing Spider-Man were trying really hard to be like Arkham Asylum. The difference?, Arkham was not a movie tie in. Hopefully next time they do it right.
So it's basically the same thing as Amazing Spider-man (the game): A superhero movie tie-in game trying really hard to be like an Arkham game (but falling just short of its goal). I still might get it, I did buy Amazing Spider-man after all.
This game is actually a guilty pleasure of mine. It's by no means amazing but it's definitely entertaining. You'll definitely never find a game that lets you place as cap like this one
No, that is not what I meant. You keep misunderstanding me as I also never said that I like Marvel games over DC. Both have their own good games and bad ones. I'm simply pointing them out. Batman: Arkham Asylum and City for example, are different as they are not movie tie in games to the Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan's movies. I like both DC and Marvel as I want them both to be successful.

@ABL36 So what? The most important points of the game that aren't actually involved in personal opinions are the gameplay mechanics, that actually have a good review. Graphically speaking, this game surpasses by far the normal expectation to a "movie game", while points like "dull enviroments" and "forgettable enemies" are not a strong point in the review. Compare to me the difference between a dull enviroment in CA:SS and Batman:AA. Compare to me the "forgettable enemies" of CA:SS and Batman:AA
the thing that made arkum asylum work so well is because i mean u were batman in it there was faced paced addictive fighting, strategic assasinations when killing guys with guns and also epic boss fights. but with captain america the fighting isnt as faced paced and also with his appearance he doesnt look buff at all i mean look at batman he's carrying all types of gadgets and weapons and is heavily padded with armour and in arkham it makes u want to collect as it rewards well (interview clips)

yeah you read it right it had free roam multiplayer a cool superman to play hours of of things to do once the game was finished plus i can't get over how you could fight the villains in the city when you wanted i've wanted that in a game for years if it had a larger roster
I just played the game and it's actually quite enjoyable, I think the problem might be that some people go into this game expecting something like Arkham asylum, but don't do that
The shield was so fun to use, it's so different, I say it's a good game, worth a buy, It may not be Arkham (and it should be different than Arkham) but still a step forward, hope we get a better quality Cap game in the future!
@ivorysandstorm2 Now now, child, that's not fair at all. He gave you his findings and a basis for each of them. This is actually one of IGN's better reviews as it was very thorough on just about everything, and while still somewhat cheeky like the others, very informative.
Even when comparing this game to AA i think its still pretty fun and good. Personally i reckon I had more fun with the combat in this game than with Batman. The only problems I had with this game was it didn't really seem to take advantage of the free roam, and the boss battles were pretty bad and boring.
YOOO, 2018, still have the game. I love Cap and this game is pretty good! But giving the game a 'mediocre' rating? Pffft, I'd at least put it up to a 7/10
@pjmack79 - You know, I was going to go there but I ran out of words aloud. Captain AMERICA: Super Soldier reviewed by IGN. UK (UNITED KINGDOM). This is not a game based game either. "We still set the story in the same region and time period as the movie, but we were free to tell our own story. We created the game-flow first and then Christos Gage came on-board and wove an awesome story into the existing flow, adding a roster of villains from the comic books." - Next Level Games
it's just Batman and Rocksteady set a really high bar for its amazing gameplay. And other superhero games are now going to want that same fluid combat, story, and whatnot.
@tom9154 since when are we talking about those games? I haven't played it but I am guessing its more like the wolverine game which i only played the demo for.
Well if the comparisons are justified, I see no problems with them being brought up. And let's be honest here - the combat in this game IS inspired by Batman Arkham, so the comparison is fine.
You sure about that? Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 &2, X-Men Legends 1 &2, Spider-Man 2,Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man:Shattered Dimensions, Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Origins: Wolverine( A lot better than the movie), Marvel vs Capcom, etc.
I personally loved this game. I never seen the movie so the story was great. And the gameplay was really good, and the setting was fantastic.. I liked it so much more than Arkham asylum
they should make a solo captain america game in a similar style to Arkham asylum and Arkham City. Spiderman is the only other character to have a solo superhero game thats decent enough to enjoy. Imagine Captain America (Obv with ubdated and modified costumes and vills costumes and appearence as they did with the Arkham series) running through New York City or something with the big bad being Red Skull. They could make itodern times New York or WWII Germany...
@kn1feonly I haven't played this game but I want to add that 'Arkham City' will be released in about 3 months... you might consider waiting for the direct sequel to the game you loved ^^
if you checked the wii version wii can't even reach this quality i am not defending this game, movie based games simply are not a good idea to buy unless if you're hunting for an easy platinum trophies or easy achivement in this case just rent them or get them from a friend if they have them.
Is this game worth buying? Usually I stay away from official movie games but Wolverine Origins game was real good so is this game a rare gem like Wolverine's?
i just finished this game and it deserves atleast a 7.5, the open world concept was great, hunting for collectables was great, the battles were fun....actually this game shld have gotten a 9.5 since its a movie type based game and we all know how movie games suck, but this one was far from that...ESPECIALLY the graphics
People stop holding a grudge because of 3 reviews, don't compare one games score, to an entirely different game. Go find something else to do with my life
Although i dont completely disagree with IGN, i do think the 5.0 is low. I'd say a 7.0 would be fair enough. Unfortunately it doesnt look like a game i'll buy, no offence to the fans of course......
The IGN review of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters said that it was a great little fun game to not take to seriously, but I found Captain America: Super Soldier better in that respect. I had a great time rattling through the game in a day and thought it was better than Green Lantern.
@Catalinutz212 Well in MW3 are you a superhero in an open world enviornment? I think he more means Batman Arkham City, Spiderman Edge of Time, or Prototype 2 (to an extent.)
This game, while is a tie in, its not supposed to be the movie in a game. Besides, what would be the point of a weak Steve Rogers moment. This is from someone who has the game and loves it, and I’m not afraid of judgement. As for the graphics, it was 2010, what’d you expect? I can agree on the platforming, it’s hard to get a perfect timing, but that just adds to the challenge. I don’t know why you be hating on this game.
"We still set the story in the same region and time period as the movie, but we were free to tell our own story. @MrBrightside394 just saying (i'm no big fan of cod) but usually in a war fps game you really aren't supposed to remember the enemy, because you know they are only random soldiers, but I still understand what you mean and I agree with you.
In this case this game does borrow a lot from Arkham Asylum. They were definitely trying to replicate the combat system. Its hard not to say anything about that. Why not compare it to blockbuster hit titles? They're successful for a reason. It doesn't mean they should make the same success. The review means to learn from the inspiration's mistakes and try to do something better. Since this is a movie tie in it wasn't able to do anything better.
What do you expect, IGN. its a minute tide in game! Of course its not gonna be compelling or remarkable like the Arkham series, or Shattered Dimensions. The movie based game is nothing more than the studios trying to make a quick buck. But comparing it to other superhero games is just insulting.
When a game, movie, band etc are obviously following the same formula as something that's already successful, you're naturally going to compare it against what it seems to be trying to live up to. If Captain America is following the same recipe as Arkham and falls short, then say so as it may save someone some money. Plus, if it's not being original, then shouldn't the kudos go to what is being original?
IGN should do at least some research. SEGA understands that they can't mimic the movie and draw from it completely. Even Marvel has explained that Cap was in WWII for 3 years before he was frozen .This is just one of his many adventures in WWII. Oh, and IGN: graphics aren't everything. I'm sure SEGA will give you an apology for this NOT being Arkham Asylum. Also, Shattered Dimensions and Super Soldier are TWO DIFFERENT GAMES. I loved this game, one of the best movie tie-in games I've played.
If people are gonna talk about gameplay similarities between this game and Batman as a bad thing....does that mean that people are gonna stop wanting a TMNT game with that same Batman gameplay? Oh, right, I forgot. Double standards.
it would be nice to know what system you are reviewing it for as it was released on the 360, ps3, wii, ds and 3ds and if that's what it looks like on the ds i'm very happy and think it looks amazing.
You know I think this review is a bit harsh. As you progress this game really improves, the combat is much more versatile than this guy gives credit. The environments are large, interesting and quite detailed. The enemies are pretty cool and take downs are slow-motion and make you feel like a badass. I'd give the game a 7.5/10. It really was quite good.
You do realize that as of late the only great video games from DC revolves mostly around Batman right? At least with Marvel, they can produce good games from different superheroes besides just one.
Batman arkham asylum is one of my favorite videogames of all time... but i feel bad for all the other superhero games coming out now. I mean they're all going to be compared to arkham asylum, well actually arkham city considering its coming out in three months.
This game should be considered a stepping stone. Copying Arkham Asylum isn't a bad thing, but developers should remember Cap is NOT Batman. Gameplay should've been changed...

I'll stick with MvC3 for my Captain America fix.
You do realize that as of late the only great video games from DC revolves mostly around Batman right? At least with Marvel, they can produce good games from different superheroes besides just one.
Batman arkham asylum is one of my favorite videogames of all time... but i feel bad for all the other superhero games coming out now. I mean they're all going to be compared to arkham asylum, well actually arkham city considering its coming out in three months.
did anyone notice at 2:39 a 7G achievement/
It was fun got all the trophies. It did feel like arkham asylum but watered down which is fine i recommend a rental for achievements or trophies
This game should be considered a stepping stone. Copying Arkham Asylum isn't a bad thing, but developers should remember Cap is NOT Batman. Gameplay should've been changed...
does it have something to o with Captain America Super Soldier
