One version I was hoping to see on here was A Tale of the Crimson Flower. It’s a really beautiful Russian animation that funnily enough has Tim Curry playing the Beast in the English dub. It’s one of my favourite versions and I’d like to think their version of Beauty, Anastasia is a little more interesting then some of the Beauties on this list, but that could just be me being biased. Glad to see all these other versions in the video tho. Have you ever heard of the old animated TV show “Happily Ever After Fairy Tales For Every Child?” That also told different iterations of Fairy Tales but placed them in different cultures! (Spanish Cinderella, Thumbelina in the Amazon, Native American Snow White, Chinese Little Mermaid, Middle Eastern Beauty and the Beast) It was one of my favorites as a kid!
Or also comparing different versions of Swan Lake... there is Duchess swan in ever after high which the daughter of the Swan queen, which i don t know if is odile or odette because she pretends to steal other happily ever afters to other people because her story ends tragically
When I read the original story as a child I thought that since the Beast has a magic mirror and also knew Beauty's name, there was a chance he purposely did that to her father because he wanted to test him and also to take Beauty out of her difficult life(her sisters are very rude and Beauty has to do everything because they are spoiled and don't want to, and the Beast gives money to Beauty's father before he leaves, to me this seemed like a test and maybe an act of mercy since the man lost a lot of possessions).
I am disappointed we don’t see much footage of Travis, Coach Beast and even Shawn from Regal Academy. Travis didn’t even appear on the video thumbnail like Hawk for the Snow White video. 😔

You should watch Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Chile Made by the same animators that made Proud Family and BeBe’s Kids. They center around the classic fairy tales with people of color as the focus. The Beauty and the Beast one is my favorite one
I think the reason that in Ever after High sleeping beauty and Beauty and the beast are sisters is the same reason as to why raven and apple aren't step mother step daughter, it's because there has been so many generations so aspects of the story has been lost. So it makes sense that eventually the position as the next sleeping beauty and Beauty and the beast through royal marriages would end up in one royal family thus making briar and rosabella cousins.
HBO family had a series called Happily Ever After that I really enjoyed as a kid. Each episode retold a classic fairy tale but would incorporate different cultures and modernize aspects. I liked comparing them to the Disney counterparts growing up and they could be fun to analyze for this series!

Hello! As a person who is almost hyperfixated in this fairytale, I was really excited expecting the Beauty and The Beast video. Despite liking the Disney version I would say the bests adaptations of BATB I've ever see are the Happily Ever After series where the story takes place in what it seems to be somewhere in Africa. The main couple is adorable. Beauty has a nice caring family despite the situation, no envious siblings, the beast is amazing and sarcastic and really show a worthy inner personality which is the purpose of the story right? Its one of the best versions I highly recomend it.
@7:57 I had some of those on DVD when I was a kid, but I didn't keep them when I moved. I think my favorite was their version of The Little Princess because instead of her dad dying, like in the og story, he lives. :) I also had their version of Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, and... Hm, that might've been all in that dvd set. They were cute movies, I thought. I liked their version of Pocahontas better than Disney's. Cinderella might have been in the dvd set, but I don't remember entirely. It's been over a decade (ack!) so my memory is kinda foggy. But, yeah... Idk, I liked most of their adaptations, the ones I saw anyhow, better than Disney's. 😅

Phelous and the Movies had also reviewed some of the straight-to-video movies on this list, such as the Burbank Animation version of the story, and Good Times Animation. His reviews of straight-to video movies are pretty negative, but also hilarious!
I feel like Disney's Belle definitely set the standard for other versions of the character afterwards. And it's wild to me that so many people forget that she's a nerd just because she's beautiful.

so in the eah realm sleeping beauty and beauty’s princes/husbands are the siblings not the two princesses. from the siblings after the one of them and “briar rose” the sleeping beauty story happens which births briar beauty, the brother is left wealthy but alone growing bitter and selfish leading him to be cursed into a beast by an enchanted fairy and that’s how beauty and beast happens which then births rosabella and makes them cousins.

It's not a similar case like _Ella Enchanted_ and _Ever After_ which truly are not "Cinderella" adaptations, but movies inspired the fairy tale or are based on something inspired by the fairy tale. _Ella Enchanted_ was from a series of books parodying fairy tales, and _Ever After_ is by no means a fairy tale movie.
There is one thing I don't get about regal academy they call tacos, burritos. Question is the creator of the show food culture blind. Everybody knows the difference between a taco or burrito. Or they don't have a actual burrito model or just say taco instead of calling a taco a burrito.

I've seen the Disney one but I've been wanting to watch the other adaptions. Could you do a video on the MANY animated adaptions of Treasure Island? The Golden Films version is the worst IMO. The Mel O Toons version has cute designs but goes by too quickly. I love Treasure Planet but I also want to see other animated adaptions of Treasure Island get their due.
My favorite animated Cinderella is the one from Jetlag. The Disney animated movie suffers from the lack of backstory, lack of character development, and that half the film is focused on the animals. If they were suppose to be used for whatever the moral is, the execution was quite poor.
@@eleonorepb4565 Those don't count. And the Cinderella from the sequels feels like a different character than the one from the first film. All of a sudden her dialogue isn't bland, and her personality increased significantly. The first film and the second sequel don't go very well together.

What about Beauty and the Beet?
I don't know if you're aware of this and intentionally lefted it out, but there was a movie released around 2022 called belle. That is heavily inspired by beauty and the beast.
There's a difference between an inspiration and an adaptation. 2022's _Belle_ is not a _BatB_ adaptation.

@@eleonorepb4565 No, _Tangled_ is a "Rapunzel" adaptation. It's not a parody, satire, or set in a different genre. It's not a similar case like _Ella Enchanted_ and _Ever After_ which truly are not "Cinderella" adaptations, but movies inspired the fairy tale or are based on something inspired by the fairy tale. _Ella Enchanted_ was from a series of books parodying fairy tales, and _Ever After_ is by no means a fairy tale movie.
For me, the good times BaTB was difficult to watch because the Beast just screamed at Beauty for every little thing

I've seen the Disney one but I've been wanting to watch the other adaptions. Could you do a video on the MANY animated adaptions of Treasure Island? The Golden Films version is the worst IMO. The Mel O Toons version has cute designs but goes by too quickly. I love Treasure Planet but I also want to see other animated adaptions of Treasure Island get their due.

My favorite animated Cinderella is the one from Jetlag. The Disney animated movie suffers from the lack of backstory, lack of character development, and that half the film is focused on the animals. If they were suppose to be used for whatever the moral is, the execution was quite poor.

@@eleonorepb4565 Those don't count. And the Cinderella from the sequels feels like a different character than the one from the first film. All of a sudden her dialogue isn't bland, and her personality increased significantly. The first film and the second sequel don't go very well together.
