Sonic 06 is one of my favorite games of all for its music, story, level design and voice cast. I especially love the tragedy behind Silver and Elise. Shadow going full circle from accepting his past to defying his future is genius. Is the game hot garbage? Yes. Do I still adore it despite being hot garbage? Yes. Do I still think it is worth preserving. Of course. As you said, history should remain documented.
I remember I bought 06 on the 360 Marketplace last year. I thought I got scammed since I couldn't download it on my Series X or my Dad's 360. I sold my Series X and bought a 360 E recently, as well as 320 GB hard drive, and have been focusing on that, since I can play all of my other Xbox games on One and the Series.
Saying SEGA wants to erase 06 couldn't be further from the truth. A. They're not ashamed of it as many people would believe for some reason. B. It sold really well so it's not a commercial flop, which is important in the grand scheme of things. Most 06 haters admit to never having played the game anyway and most new fans to the franchise that end up playing it without any preconceived biases end up liking it most of the time. Game is genuinely liked but A LOT of people. C. Shadow the Hedgehog. 06 Shadow is universally agreed upon to be the best portrayal of the character ever. Ever since, all the portrayals reminiscent of his 06 one have been beloved or liked (Archie Shadow, Rivals and Forces Shadow and most recently Prime Shadow) and all portrayals of him not reminiscent of his 06 portrayal are universally hated (Boom Shadow, IDW Shadow). Fans want Shadow portrayed a specific way and we know people inside Sonic Team and IDW also want Shadow portrayed that way, and that way is the Sonic 06 way. D. They're actively and directly using stuff from that game. Sonic Rivals followed the "extinguishing the flame takes us back in time" ending of 06 and reintroduces Silver, Silver himself being a mainstay is a byproduct of 06 and he will always be remembered as the guy from 06. If SEGA wanted 06 forgotten they would just bury Silver 6 feet under. There have been 2 cover stories (they're the franchise's official canon light novels pretty much) that used 06, one where Silver and Sonic save people from an earthquake in Soleanna's Kingdom Valley and one where Silver and Elise reunite. And of course, the elephant in the room, Sonic Generations. 1/9 of that game is literally Sonic 06. 2 stages, 12 missions and a Rival Battle all based on Sonic 06. And of course, there have been smaller things all over the place showing 06 isn't something they want buried. Mephiles being included in Sonic Runners (in which he has a role in the story as well, he's not just a playable character), Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle (Speed Battle includes other references to 06 in missions as well), Super Silver from 06 in Forces: Speed Battle, 06 soundtracks being in Generations and Frontiers, an 06 reference in Team Sonic Racing, the Sonic 30th Anniversary Symphony including an entire segment for 06 (and the Symphony Tour will as well) which is something a very small amount of games got. I could go on, 06 is factually not a shameful sin better left forgotten to SEGA and neither it is to us fans.
I've completed Sonic 06 back in 2021. I can say that.. The game at times was so frustrating and sometimes unbearable. But there were also enjoyable parts in the game. I had some fun with Sonic 06.

I enjoyed Sonic Boom it’s the first game I got on my Wii U, there nothing like it on Wii U, multiplayer 3D platformer with multiple characters and big free rome hub worlds, It’s a very ambitious game and has more content than a lot of games, most people have never even played it they just repeat what some ridiculous TH-cam video said smh

Blaze is Actually from the future. After Silvers story ends, She's sent to the Sol dimension to finish the battle with Iblis as Burning Blaze. Burning Blaze can be seen before Blaze fades Away. Sonic 06 part 2: - Sonic Rush
Yeah, it was her original origin. She's now just from a different dimension as being her backstory, but essentially it also highlights Sonic Team or Sega at the time not having a timeline for the order of their release games which for the most part they did but an example is how in Sonic Battle Rouge mentions how a Gamma looking robot looks just like Omega however the odd thing with that is Battle was released BEFORE Heroes for Omega's introduction. In Japan it was a month difference for the games, but for North America literally a day difference with Battle still being released before Heroes. That said with Rush and 06 the gap was longer in getting the timeline correct. It's also why even in a game like Sonic Colors DS Sonic Team has made the nod to them having a history with being old partners as though they have worked together which Tails notes and then plus with Generations with Blaze now having apparently remembered her other life with Silver in mentioning how she never imagined she would be back in Crisis City again and the White Space for levels is what is meant to be a limbo of sorts for the places/timelines the Time Eater has erased, but with Crisis City being there it very well implies it was already there to begin with after the events of 06 having been erased from the timeline, but that doesn't mean they DIDN'T happen just because time got reset.
I would absolutely love an official remake of Sonic 06. I know it will never happen, but one can dream. It's a genuinely good game at it's core, but is simply plagued by too many issues that prevent it from being another great Sonic title.

Another game forgotten by sega is shadow the hedgehog. Despite being based on of the most popular characters it’s never been ported to a newer console.
As long as an ISO of this game exists on the high seas, this disaster will be "preserved" forever. The real question is, can we travel back in time and prevent this game from ever being created?
I'm soo affortunate to have this game on physical on my ps3, however is a shame that this game has never been release for other platforms like say pc or being backwards compatible with the xbox one or series consoles, and i know that this game isn't really accesible for most players how have a 360 or ps3, but man, if you want to play this game jailbreak your console and that's it

This is the Only mainline sonic game that I have yet to get my hands on yet. I don’t have a Xbox 360, or A PS3. & I don’t know how to use a Xenia emulator for my Xbox Series X, and I don’t think the emulator will work with my main computer I have which is a Mac book air, but also have a another computer which is a HP ENVY Notebook which is my family’s computer but mostly my dad uses, & I wonder if I could get the Xenia Emulator working on there so and then maybe I can find a Xbox 360 copy of Sonic 06 on Amazon and possibly get it to work on my Series X. if not my unfortunately my best chance at playing 06 is if Microsoft makes the game compatible with the series X which I don’t think will happen for awhile. but it is strange how they put it back on the Xbox 360 marketplace and still not have it compatible for the series X

Sonic 06 will never be re released unless they make some “sonic 3D ultimate collection” which I doubt. Sega would rather pretend like the game doesn’t exist.
I doubt i will ever get re-released. And with the existence of P-06, which is a better experience in every aspect, there's not really any reason to return to it. Well, aside from playing it for comparison's sake, to see if it really lives up to the legends, lol.
The problem with P-06 being the only modern way to play is that now we're getting an increase of people who have only ever played that version, and use it to claim that '06 was actually a masterpiece all along.
I played Sonic 06 and all i can say is. Why would anyone want to rerelease it? The entire game would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. And considering the cost it's just cheaper to make an entirely new game. That doesn't have the stigma of being the game that killed Sonic.

1:49 that's actually not true. back in 2019, 06 was added to PSN, however, that was only in Japan for some reason. Now I can't confirm if it hasn't been delisted since then, but I felt like that was worth pointing out.
It sucks because this is a dream Sonic game to me. Or at least on paper, because the execution is really that bad. There is a good game in there but it would take a tremendous ammount of effort to make it shine.

Both Silver and Elise are good characters that got screwed over by the rest of the story being a mess. People hate on both for invalid reasons.

Sonic Boom was not made by Sonic Team proper, so they have no saying on it.

To be fair, Sonic 06 hasn't returned to PSN because there was never a digital version of the game on PS3 to begin with.

06 is fully playable with minimal issues with a xenia build made for the game.
If the game was ported to a new platform then I believe that it would introduce even more bugs to an already dysfunctional game.
