- This 1985 Camaro IROC-Z is fighting me every step of the way. In this episode it tried to commit suicide by fire.. but I saved it. I have a feeling it doesn't want to be resurrected. Let's try and wrap up all the mechanical work in this video and go over what interior work is in the budget, which is $0.

You are a good Mechanic ! DO NOT let your videos beat you down . Always follow your heart . We are with you.
Thanks
Lee, This is my favourite Chanel on TH-cam! I’ve learned a lot watching you and have applied those skills to complete my projects. Very inspiring. I Love your car collection and I would be driving each one a week at a time to keep fresh gas and enjoy the builds.
Thanks
Don't give up, keep up the good work!
It's looking better all the time!
Keep your chin up Lee don’t let this car beat you
Thanks
Don’t give up on it. I like this series of videos
I appreciate your creativity in doing things "as cheap as humanly possible"... keep up the good work, get it to a plateau you're comfortable with. You do a great job!
Thanks
Thanks Lee for the video. Like your honesty about the Z-28 know that it will be just a fine car. Thanks for sharing!
💯👍👊❤️
That's my plan too. I want to get mine straightemed out mechanically and then worry about painting it.
I can't wait to see you drive that jewel.
You always continue to work to complete your projects! This is commendable Sir! I wish I had your energy! Theis job., step by step, just looks great!
Thanks
Hey Lee..the third plug connector you was showing your viewers on the driver side is the plug connector that goes behind the ac compressor for the cycling swtch..that switch have different colors for certain ac system..hope that helps you out for where that plug connector goes.
Lee, keep at it! really like the way you manage to bring basket case cars back to life for very little money using logic and sense. rather than spending a bunch of money like most people normally do !
even if shit goes wrong in videos still worth recording as just shows the REAL life experience rather than other youtube channels 👍
Minor setback, keep going bring it back to live for another drive
Too bad about the fire, you just cannot catch a break on this one
Keep up the great work and don't give up:)
Thanks
Sorry to see you cut it short, but it’s your time and money. You have to make the call. Too bad about the fire! 😢
Good morning from Cape Cod 🦈 there are always unforeseen obstacles, the Camaro has come a long way, just keep picking at it and it'll be a beauty like the rest of them. I have faith in your abilities buddy 👍✌️🇺🇲
Thanks
I said that from the start, they just don't bring the money. Even though they only made about 2500 in 1985. I still like them. Yours is the gift that keeps giving!
So it's a classic case if you're gonna buy one get the nice one not worth fixing the cheap One unless you have a yard full of parts. Cars where you could make one decent car out of 5.
It's mainly due to the fact that the type of people that own them. Unless there really nice or a big money build its a mullet mobile just like 99% of the catfish camaros
@@TwoDollarGararge You are 💯 right!
@@TwoDollarGararge I disagree, these 3rd gen Camaros/Firebirds are becoming popular again because they are so cheap to buy, no they aren't worth "big money" yet but they are getting there because the early-mid Gen Xers like myself are empty nesters with money to burn and getting close to retirement and they want their "teenaged dream car".
@TheREALOC1972 I hear that but still just get a nicer one going through the same process with my 944 if I bought a nicer one would have saved months of headaches from the previous 16 owners
Man this car is a real pain in the ass, I really admire your dedication most would say the hell with this. I love the videos and work you do keep it up. I wish I lived closer I have a complete back hatch area plastic pieces that I would just give you, maybe an old headliner also .
No 1 cause of classic cars being write offs is fire ,,,just glad it wasn’t under the bonnet/dash when ya come out nexed morning 👍
I remember when the iroc first came out.they were all over the parking lot at the dealership i worked at.i thought nothing of them or the monte carlo ss.but the vette was fast. i couldn't figure out how to get reverse on the standard shift, you had to push down and over very fancy dash i was a youngster lol.peace....
Good job. There a very nice car my uncle had an all white one with grey interior I think it was an 87. That car was fully loaded and a five speed. It just nice to see someone keep these old iroc on the road. Good video 😊
Thanks
Happy friday!!!🎉
Dang. Glad you got that fire out😲
Your doing great … she is going to look amazing
Sir i enjoy all of your videos myself i have a 1976 corvette and parts for it is very high trying to restore i know what you are talking about next video please
You got this Lee. I'd just leave the carpet the way it is. That plastic piece should cover that burn spot up. You are getting there.
Great progress by the way.
Doin good 👍🏼
Afternoon gummy gas burns out it'll run a lot smoother I'm surprised it ain't been a push rod with the old gas, mine bent 3 push rods...
Good job. Gonna be a nice car for someone 👍💯
I feel your pain. I bought a 91 rs with tbi and it caught fire and I got it put out before it burned up the whole car. I finally gave up on it and sold it at a huge loss but my 86 z28 camaro 305 TPI is in the shop getting swapped to a carburetor so I'm hoping it will do a lot better with a carburetor. These 3rd gen camaros are so quirky it's unreal. But I love them anyways.
Keep it up. Doing a great job. Should be a nice car and the next person can take it to the next level. It's a "Future Dan problem". May not need a master cylinder. Check the flow at the rear junction or better check where the line connects to each brake. If it's flowing from there the master cylinder is OK but the calibers are bad.
it was the master cylinder, next video
I have had projects like this where nothing goes rite. Hang in there! Also you may be in luck i have a complete ac set up from a 87 or 88 if you want it let me know. I can hook you up!!
Have you thought about checking with one of the Camaro parts suppliers and see if they would help you out with the one cover that is missing you seem to be the only one doing an IROC-Z right now it would be good for them as a sponsor. I’m glad you got the fire out I’m sorry that happened to you, I learned about aftermarket sound deadening apparently it’s extremely flammable. Sorry Lee that’s not what you needed to happen.
Did you run a compression test on this engine. 1 & 7 have burnt valves, that's why you can't get that rough idle out, and why those cyl have lower temps (blow by) That's a MAP sensor that mounts up on that firewall.
I would have lost patience with that car a long time ago.
👍👍👍
Best to keep it budget all the way, make a little money on it and build something more valuable next time. That could be a budget build or a money pit. I have repaired those but never built one for any purpose, due to being a low value type of car. Per dollar and performance, they are undervalued in my opinion but most people don’t like them or don’t want to pay much for one if they do.
could be the proportioning valve not letting fluid to the back.pull the wire off the top and measure ohms from connector to valve body, should be open,if you take the switch out sometimes it can be centered with a pick.
The temperature sensor wire should be a green wire for the gauge.
Maple motors never goes below 7950 . Mullet mobile generation Camaro values just aren't there yet 😔
the last part where you was welding the patch seem like forgot to damp the area to keep it from catching fire.
By the time it's over you will have done a lot of work,,,it needs to come back in cash!
These old cars will get on your last nerve. They will nickel and dime you to Deàth I would just do a little body work.Put it in a nice coat of primer.Do a little bit to the inter and sell it as a project car Take care.
Ive seen these cars go anywhere from 10-25000.
Well you said you did not like the red interior. Maybe this is your sign to redo it?
as soon as the money tree blooms
They. Got. Some. Stuff. For. Dogs. . one. Drop. Back. Two. It's. Called. Advantage
Put some 26" inch rims it,take it to the hood and put a $14,000 price tag on it....
Paint the car 🤔
how bout go "all" all american from wires, battery, brand new out of the box with zero miles" then connect it. thats including the inside panel make it like you just bought a "brand new off the lot". then it would not catch fire,
Well Shit on the fire ! Im surprised you dont have fire extinguishers handy with all the fluids and paint stuff around your shop !
I do but was going pretty good before I noticed it.
@@clunkersandclassics Gotcha ! That shit happens fast!
Trade it for a better project .
It's not the car
It's possessed
Trump said it came from china 🇺🇲2024
I'll trade ya, a 93 K1500 Cheyenne ext. cab pickup, with the NV4500 5 speed manual, and a mid 70s Chevy 400 engine, running driving, no computer. When you're done with the IROC Z28, I used to have one, always regretted getting rid of it.
