Battery operated handheld 4W fluorescent lantern

This 4W fluorescent lantern is bought in 2007, having 6V 600mA rating, which can be powered by either a regulated plugpack or 4 AA batteries. This lantern also accept rechargable cells, by sliding the switch towards right the lantern will start charging the cells and the red LED indicator will turn on.
The battery tags have been corroded due to leakage of alkaline cells in past and their electrical connections become very poor. I modified the circuit board inside to disable the battery side and changed the connection of the red LED, making it always on when power is present.
