Pretty much like a friend of mine thought me the game and now I made 4 friends quit the game already it’s not good I think I mean maybe I shouldn’t have 2 edh decks that are literally the same playing time storm
This skit contains all the stages of being a TCG player of any sort: Uninitiated, Reasonable, Addicted, Making-Excuses, Graham, and Waiting for his opponent's second main phase to end.
This series is what got me into Magic the Gathering and LoadingReadyRun videos a little over a year ago. I cannot thank LRR enough for the many hours of entertainment and laughs that I have had over the year. I met most of my friends at university through MTG, including one of the managers at my workplace. It is surprising to find out that so many people played MTG where I work. All of them were too timid/ashamed to talk about MTG because it was so nerdy. Random talk about cards and such brought our crew together. I was even able to start up a club at my workplace.
It took me awhile to realise where I remembered that store from, then I remembered I visited it when I was in Victoria last year. Awesome place! And the videos are great, too!
I haven't watched these videos in so long but when these came out I was 12 and I rember just getting into magic and I wish you guys would do videos like this again but thank you for all the great content you have let's us watch over the years
In case anyone has missed it, new episodes of Friday Nights are being posted every month (first Friday!) on the Wizards TH-cam channel, username wizardsmtg.
Becoming a magic player is not understanding the flash joke the first time, then coming back years later and actually understanding it and finding it funny
I was 9 years old when i first started playing and im now 19 amd this is still a classic. This series was easily one of the reasons i stuck with the game
"Episode one of our 4 episode CommodoreHUSTLE spinoff"... It's the Coronation Street of Magic. (For those unaware, the long running British soap was supposed to be a 13 episode run or something similar.)
ive been watching all of these every few years since i was 12 and now im 23. my life has changed so Much since my friend Robby in middle school showed this to me but its still so comforting to me
I was like 7-10 when I was watching these and was into MTG. I didn’t understand these videos, didn’t understand the game either, just had my mom by the cards cause they were cool looking. Good times
I love your videos and i just started today. I would love you guys to do more magic like this. The comedy and lax atmosphere makes watching these videos only more enjoyable. KEEP IT UP!
I love this video. Makes me reminisce about playing back in my heyday. It's literally been a decade. I miss it from time to time. Even buy myself a booster once or twice a year to check out the new cards. I couldn't possibly devote as much time and money to it as I once did to be anything greater than super casual anymore. Pity. It's so fun when you find a solid group to play with.
Buying an MTG booster box just to crack packs can be real fun. Yet as Cameron Lauder has said before, the correct thing to do is to draft! Or at least have some pack wars with friends...
+Ioannis Seg I agree with you but the Episode where Cam is first introduced is actually filmed after this one here it is M12 and Cam comes in when they rip Catecrash. All so this is the First episode.
>Scars of Mirrodin >Mirrodin Besieged >New Phyrexia Dudes. Seriously. You re-joined magic during the PERFECT time. Those sets have some of the most powerful cards.
Where it all started... Hard to think it has been almost 8 years. Harder to think it'll be over in a few days (I know they're still going to do Friday Nights even without WoTC, but still). I'll be binge watching all of the episodes for the next days :)
Harry King Being into all things rugby related and playing touch rugby here in Atlanta, I would laugh and cheer like a lunatic if someone did that to start a Pro Tour match day. It's a shame that so few other islands apparently play Magic because seeing a Samoan do their dance in reply from the other side of the gaming hall would END me. XD
This is basically what it was like when I introduced my friends to Magic. Except they eventually got much better than me... bloody squadron hawks and emeria angels everywhere
Always fun to leave a new comment on a classic, grew up with these. And now using them to help my wife learn mtg while also playing with me to learn. She enjoyed the first episode. Didn't get specific characters name. But got some stuff so felt good
I just love coming back to these classics. They give me peace.
indeed, love these.
me too
Every single time I deck build it’s either this, pretty deece, or Rhystic studies. It’s just how things work
Soooo true
>Watch this the first time
>get interested in MtG
>Watch this three years later
>This is fucking hilarious
Same
same this got me into mtg
I mostly play to get the jokes.
Same boat
Same
"Can I teach you the stack?"
"I do programming you know"
I finally understand why it's called the stack
That actually makes a lot of sense, i thought it was cause the effects stacked on top of eachother or something
Joseph Bailey that's also true, for the same reasons. in both you make a stack, then resolve from the top
@@josephbailey5824 Yeah, both terms stem from that
Both are named after the stack of plates at a buffet.
"Episode one of our 4-episode commodoreHUSTLE spinoff" little did they know
Such foresight :D
4 now equals more than 70

Funny how they teach paul in the first episode.
Then he goes to.. a pro... tour....
Oh Word what if the reason Paul wins the pro tour is because, in learning from all these doofuses, he figured out everything NOT to do.
Pretty much like a friend of mine thought me the game and now I made 4 friends quit the game already it’s not good I think I mean maybe I shouldn’t have 2 edh decks that are literally the same playing time storm

This perfectly encapsulates both what it's like to teach people Magic and what it's like learning it
I was today years old when I heard graham quietly in the background of the dice rolls say "Great!" and "Oh lovely!" for the first time.
Lol this was originally meant to be a 4 episode series. If only they knew back then.

+Enragedguy24 hahaha xD
I was so scared that I'd never rediscover this show again. I am very happy right now
A classic!
Hey LRR
This series is what got me into magic and I have made so many friends from the game and I thank you all for that.
It took me awhile to realise where I remembered that store from, then I remembered I visited it when I was in Victoria last year. Awesome place! And the videos are great, too!
My pack-opening procedure is getting my friend Colton to do it. He got me a Nahiri and Avacyn in the same pack. He's lucky af.
I'll send him my packs. Once he opens it send it back
The Unwanted Veggie Tray he then sends back crappy cards
Hyun-Kun Animations then I make him film the openings
Time for my yearly rewatch of this entire series, 2024 edition.

It’s that time again to watch every Friday Nights episode.
I told my friend to tap his land, he started touching it like he was physically tapping
XD Ikr I was teaching my mom mtg and she did the same thing lol
Lol. That's why you should always explain things like a programmer. One 90 Degree Rotation Clockwise= TAP
Ih so I'm not the only one XD
Zachary Leacg That's what my older brother did when I first started teaching him too.
Omg I'm not the only one... I nearly died of laughter when my friend did it XD

Best MTG series ever made. Well done guys

Really loving the little Easter egg at 4:03.
Graham Stark: Is here because promised pie.

this series was awesome and my mates loved it, cause they are all MTG fans
Where it all started... Hard to think it has been almost 8 years. Harder to think it'll be over in a few days (I know they're still going to do Friday Nights even without WoTC, but still). I'll be binge watching all of the episodes for the next days :)
you guys are freaking hilarious, im really happy that someone decided to make an mtg oriented channel.
i dont even play magic anymore but boy do i love these videos
First video I see from you guys, I got 4mins and 23 seconds into it. Favorited it, subscribed.
This is the greatest video on all of TH-cam.
I still can't get over the Haka to start a game of Magic. I'm a NZer by the way so it's pretty funny.
Kinda hoping someone does that next Pro Tour.

+Harry All Blacks at your local FNM
+BigBlack81 Im Tongan and play Magic haha. I know what your talking about hhhhh
I do think you guys should be recording regular exhibition matches between yourselves. I'd watch the hell out of that!
I would pay for that. But I do watch the LRR draft games over at MTGO Academy.
PitFighter Watching them doing that is one of the reasons I would like to see more of it, even with paper Magic. :3
Victoria O'Connell That would be awesome to be honest. Seriously, I would pay to see them go against each other in exhibition games. (:
The prophecy
The beginning of the LRR Magic Cinematic Universe
"i'm not sure what it was, but it certainly was stirring" :D ty mat
I'm from NZ, loved the reference. :D. I started watching Friday Nights, and I realised I should probably go back and watch them all. So here I am.
This sketch taught me what the haka is. After yesterday's events in the NZ Parliament I had to come back and watch this again. :)
I love ready episode 1 of 4 in the description. I'm glad its now 45 episodes and still going.
I love Magic humor lol, and I love this. It's rare to see it done well.
wow this is amazing i would love to go into their secret lair of magic playing
this video is turning 10 this year...
-Where did you come from?

8 years and that joke gets me every time
MORE!!! I absolutely love these!
Holy crap. Were getting to the end of quarantine and I've watched this 7 times
Man, this was in my recommended here in 2019. 7 years late to the party, lmao

Noah Bunis Oh, the references.
No jer has slow 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣
You’re still allowed to cast creatures with flash on your main phase, though.
Nope just flying and affinity
Can there be more of these? I love everyone.
This takes me back. I first learned to play by reading the wikipedia article straight through
"for the last time that's a new zealand rugby game"
WE FINALLY GET RECOGNITION YUUUUUUUS
1,000,000 VIEWS BABY!!!
OmgXD the memories
On the day of July 25, 2019 I started my quest to watch all 73 videos of this playlist. Go to the last video or look back here for the finish date.

I've been quoting "how do I play? I understand it involves 'mana' in some way?" for almost a decade and just remembered where it came from
Didn't realize this was 10 years ago. almost to the day .-.
I came back after about five years for the programming joke
I love the way Matt opens his booster pack. So comical! xD
Paul in the start of the video is how my non-magic playing friends hear me while I'm playing magic against my girlfriend
omg such an old episode i watch this in 2019 XD
Thx for getting me into magic
11 fucking years..... god i love these skits and hope you guys make more. Pauls character arc from lost wanderer to GP contender was amazing to see
These vids are my childhood 🥲
I think we can all agree that drafting is the best form of casual magic
