Quality channel. Keeping it all in the real world. Done the wife's 1.0 ecoboost fiesta couple of months back. 47k but coming up to 9 years old. I personally like these engines and if they're serviced regularly with the right oil etc. Rather do one of these than a Vauxhall 1.6 cdi? Gearbox off to do a belt? No you're alright!
Interesting you mention about it needing the MAF to run at all. It reminds me of an '04 Astra 2.0 diesel with a failing MAF I had. Then the MAF just stopped working completely (zero output but still connected) and the engine refused to run until a new MAF was fitted. Some engines are just odd like that. Sometimes it seems as if there was some sort of 'personality' that decides when it's going to be awkward and throw a hissy fit and about what.
My ecoblue transit belt failed in April mileage 122000 as it was under recall ford replaced the whole engine under warranty had to pay for the new clutch £650 but over all got away light.
Great vids. Just in the middle of replacing wet belt after failure and replacing rockers etc how do you know when cams are in right place. I get holes line up with top but rotate engine and they are 180 out. Help 😂
I've just bought a ranger thunder 2020 none runner.just stripped it out on the garden and 8 rockers broke due to cam bet failed.im going to do the same as you done hopefully fixes it. excellent video thanks
Can I ask you how to time the cams up before I install them.do I just fit the pins then it's timed? If I then time the bottom on marks it still could be 180 degree out couldn't it or not cheers
Hi. What an amazing video. Im doing the wet belt, im having provlems removing the bolt on the crank pulley with my torque wrench and it will not loosen the bolt, is there any other way i can remove the bolt thank you for any help .
Thanks for posting this video - I have been wondering if they are fixable - as everybody just seems to say new engine - Are the 1.0 ecoboost engines fixable in the same way ?? Im suprised no one has made a chain conversion kit for them by now
great content once again can you tell me if the Vac pump has to be timed up and did you do any checks to see if any of the vales where letting by do to being bent ? Thanks Keep the camera rolling.
Without the cams in, all 4 cylinders shout be 'shut', so if the engine can turn over some result should be seen - but also no air can really get in either, to compress.
Hi mate where are you basin how do you know if your belt has snapped got a transit was going down the motorway and it cut out it is coming up with camshaft sensor does that mean the belt has snapped or slipped
Surely you need to 100 percent need to take the sump off anyway.. all the cambelt teeth will be in the sump and the oil pickup strainer will be blocked
You don't know for sure but if the engine performance is good, and it's saved a fortune in man hours then why worry if the engine runs perfectly. As he said the the rockers are designed to fail thus avoiding bent valves in most cases, more tests could be done such as compressions and valve height measurements but all that would do is add the cost of the repair, the actual test run proved the engine is good.. Happy days..
My 2017 2.0 tdci ecoblue timing belt just ripped and the engine immediately shut down while driving on the highway.. sounds exactly the same like this one in the video while cranking. Inspected the pistons and cylinders with a camera but seems to be in a good condition, do you think just putting on a new timing belt might work and get it started up?
Did you time the button pulls before you take the cam carry off i am in the middle of doing what you have done and being told different things from different people please can you get back to me asap
I'd recommend once you have the carrier off to turn the crank so the single tooth on the crank lines between the double tooth on the idler gear which the belt goes on. that is the timing mark. and use the correct locking tool
Yes its all in oil. and the oil pump got its own wet belt. the teeth sheer of and slowly decintegrate into small particles that catch on the oil pickup tube. if youre lucky it wont enter and destroy the turbos
@@Tiwey Can such a design be deliberate? I can't think of any real engineerinig reason to drive the move important part of the engine with a known failure part.

I’ve had mine done but leaked oil since wanted you to do it Michael
One thing's for sure, the starter motor works. 🤣 What a relief when it fired up. 👍
Really good video thanks for the upload. I was wondering can a leak down test be done before buying a new cover and cam's?
They always twist the lobes on the cams
I always stick an air line down the injector ports to check the valves first.
What age and mileage did it snap at?
can you tell by compression test if there's a bent valve(s) before starting even deep disassembly?
Without the cams in, all 4 cylinders shout be 'shut', so if the engine can turn over some result should be seen - but also no air can really get in either, to compress.
Might be worth getting an ODB2 reader as that may have shown the MAF was a non start fault.
hey bud, how do we get hold of you to get work done please

After valve to piston contact, how do you know the vales or guides have not been damaged?

what is the cost of a job like that 🤔
Still don’t understand why the wet belt got invented
To sell new vehicles more regularly, IMO.
Cheap ass ford design
apparently it is 1% more economical and help with emissions 🤷🏼♂️ major ford problem belts need changing 50 k max

Seems like Ford designed those rockers as a safety precaution knowing full well that belt change intervals would not be keep and they would fail?
Probably just lucky that they used Chineseium to make them rather than steel.

£400 for 2 cams incl new cover……… from Ford ?….. that less than the cost for 1 fuel injector
