I own an Emgrand premium. Both cars are great and I'm just glad both cars are now in the Philippine market.
Apart from issues with parts and aftersales, I think both cars are waaaay better than the more recognized japanese brands.
yun lang naman talaga issues e noh, parts and sometimes aftersales ng ibang dealership. but yeah bang for the buck sila. Sana talaga dumating na ang time na it won't be an issue para talagang ma challenge ang mga jap brands satin. In the end ang winner will always be the consumers.

MG5 owner here for 1yr 3months and yes, this car is quite powerful at maeenjoy mo sya pag nasa highway kana. Also, comfortable din ang ride nya due to 55R 16 tires
Love the content. But I think the price category should be last as viewers will be able to measure the value more objectively after everything else has been said and done. Giving 5pts just because it's cheaper doesn't seem fair.

-POWERFUL ENGINE(Honda City lang kaya sumabay sa same category sa ratratan)
-Manufactured in China by the BIGGEST MANUFACTURER which is SAIC(which by the way is the manufacturer of Audi, VW, etc), but it's still a british brand and MG is known and sold in Europe unlike Geely.

We own an Emgrand, I agree with this review especially about the infotainment & engine performance. Still, I would like to highlight its main advantage over all of its competitors, it's interior and comfort which gives you a feel of a Europian Car. In the end, we better judge a car after riding it and don't just rely on reviews, ride all the cars on your list before getting one so you don't have to regret your decision.
Cost effective pa. Till now we are not disapointed with our purchase. Happy driving.
Emgrand’s Blue and White Interior reminds me those of the vintage cars in the US like the Cadillacs, Buicks, Lincolns, and Chevies.
Hello there You forgot to mention that the mg5 alpha has an option to choose 3 types of driving power steering, urban normal and dynamic. Let’s say dynamic is like squeezing a pandesal while normal is like squeezing a siopao and dynamic is like squeezing a cake. Also, it has an option where you can switch to eco driving mode to save gas.
True! I just got my MG5 Style variant.
The steering options are incredible.
City: Urban option for more easier turn of the steering wheel.
Highway: Dynamic for more firm and stable feel when in high speed driving.

Just a thought from "little old me" but from my aspect of living and living and mostly driving south of Cebu City on still an only 2 lane highway with an overloaded plethora of all kinds and sizes of vehicles from 2 to 4 wheels..foot pedaling..or triceka motorized 3 wheelers virtually all move very slowly or instead driving like they are an ambulance to get to "nowhere really important"..
It makes it really hard to get very good fuel economy..
I realize perhaps there are more areas to enjoy "cruising in style" do to much less congestion in outer metro Manilla or out lying suburban roads where you live
Thus for me and others who follow your channel:
When it comes to horsepower output..."they aren't that far apart really"...and many many other motorized vehicles are much faster..
But with gasoline so expensive now...however they are slowly coming down...true..but still very high..
Fuel economy is of greater value to me..since you cannot ever count on "getting to your final destination quickly" LOL
I would be curious if you can share "real world" fuel economy numbers for "in town traffic" and "out on the road" numbers..so ones also curious to know what they might expect to see...before they finally choose to select and purchase one over the over
Two me: At the top of my list of important criteria before purchasing a new vehicle are:
*Outside looks...Emgrand wins
* Inside the cabin looks/how much room space to stretch out..materials &
comfort features..Emgrand wins
*Fuel economy numbers...the final consideration...not the time to drive stoplight to stop light..uncertain at this point..and mere minutiae
BUT ultimately I think Geely put together a "heck of a car" for such a low price!
Just gotta convince the filipina wife to buy it over a small to medium size SUV!!
That is my "mountain to ultimately climb"!

MG5 also have 3 driving modes. The 5 Alpha have 2nd row aircon too. However the truck still needs to be open manually.

Geely Emgrand's looks is very stunning. However, the price of the Emgrand is now higher than the MG5 Alpha based on the recent update from Geely. It should decrease the point of Emgrand in this video(which I guess taken before the increase).
I chose MG5 because it also looks luxurious too, but with much more power and more tech. Imagine driving a luxurious looking car without Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 360° camera, tapos bitin pa sa power. 🤷♂️ Even my Core MT(lowest variant) has an Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Also, mine's a manual(MT) so it's more engaging to drive and a practical choice when it comes to wear and tear concerns.
True! I am comparing these two cars right now and I am very intrigued with the Emgrand but upon checking their price points, Emgrand is now more expensive than the MG5. I already made a test drive of the MG5 Alpha and it feels great! You do really get more out of the MG5 with respect to its price than the Emgrand. I will be getting my first car the MG5 Alpha 2022 next week and I'm truly excited for my journey with this car.
@@ferdiluxe I agree. I considered the Emgrand as well but the absence of Carplay and Adroid Auto really pushed me back. With my MG5, I can charge my my phone while using the Maps and YT in Android Auto while on long drives. Have you got your MG5 already?

Even the lowest variant of MG5 which is the Core MT priced at 658,888 has an Apple Carplay/Android Auto Feature. So, meh for Emgrand.

Although they have good price new brands tend to not last long in Philippine market leaving you with a paper weight waiting for it breaking down without parts. I know that because i also own a chinese car so for my money i would rather go for the vios for the same money.
I'd sooner be caught dead than be seen driving a Vios.

Thats why one of the reason the war must flourish because Chinese car will dominate the industry very far todays what they offer. Come to think of it its been long time that toyota dominates philippines but everyyear they release a car 2-4 features added and same b(*&*(#$ at a highcost. Regarding the parts the counterparts of all brand nowadays has the same problem 7-12 month didt arrive as per the Geely theyll had 6months promise to their customers
Then go with the lame vios lol. Im also a chinese car owner and never had major problems for 3 years now

but still it is a chinese car but good review, when it comes to tech, space, cabin, power, driving, and the most important engine and tech reliability I'll go for japanese cars because nothing can go wrong with japanese cars, specially honda =)
