I had been using the geely emgrand 7 since 2012 and it didn't give me headache. I abandoned it a week ago fleeing the war in Ukraine

Another refreshing unbiased review! i wish however that Geely brought their highly touted Xingyue L- 8 Speed AT. Thats what I wanted to consider especially since the exchange rate of the Peso to Yuan may reach P9=1¥uan levels soon!

Very stylish. From the rhythmic tail light that screams Knight Rider to that retro arcade-like interface of the gauges. A much better choice than the Vios and City.

Love everything about the car, the driving feel is kinda vios-like though.

@@KyleLiongCars some segment players handle much better on the road and have more power on tap. I find it leans more on the vanilla side of driving (which is medyo surprising given how good the Geely Xingyue and Coolray drive) kaya slightly naunderwhelm ako in that aspect.
it’s not exactly the best in handling and performance in its class, but it’s definitely the most well-rounded and nicely-packaged for most people’s needs and wants.
PS: got to drive this and the Tugella in Guangzhou last year. I hope they bring the Tugella here.
Yun nga as mentioned sa video, handling is NOT it’s strong suit hahaha! This car almost cannot handle :( Not clumsy naman like a Vios, but really more so like a big fat Camry. I like it though, so that at least there’s an option for people to go down the comfy vs sporty route when picking a Geely :)

This car really looks good in person! Almost had a change of heart in buying the Coolray limited few days ago! But just sticked with Coolray due to the announcement that they are open in using this as taxi / ride-sharing. Though I think that it will be the base variant that is yet to be released that will used as one.

At 7:47 you said that it was "jerky" in sport and comfort mode. Is this something of a deal breaker? Should i go to honda city rs instead? I think is doesnt not have that "jerky-ness".

Would you recommend as a first college car? I have a hard time choosing honda city rs or emgrand comfort variant but im scared that geely would be unreliable
If you want to impress your friends (which no one should btw) with driving dynamics, go for the City. If you want to impress them with comfort and will often go on trips with them, then the Emgrand is the better cruiser. The Emgrand gets 5 years of warranty too, while the City gets 3 years (although I think Honda has an offer to extend that) so that’s something to consider
Hope they release a hatchback of this one ;)

Torsion unfortunately. Kinda hops at corners haha hence not great at handling but more space and comfy :D

Hi, is the ground clearance only 122mm? Isn't it too low, especially if it will transport 4-5 pax?
It’s 151mm!!! Someone messed up in the initial official spec sheets and wrote 122mm haha!
5 of us sat in it and no problems with steep ramps and speed bumps :)

Sorry to have kept you waiting haha! The 102PS on this feels much more because of the tuning of the transmission. It feels more like 140-150PS than 102PS, unlike the Vios 1.5’s engine which feels less. Overall, this is a much more usable and powerful powertrain combo.

It is very beautiful budget car, seems having good interiors too. It is China’s car aced to slice the Japanese car market.
Only odd coloured seat- blue/white with metallic brownish colour; not matching~ maybe a sporty blue hue would be better.

It has been a while now and the emgrand is going to be a NICHE car at the rate it is NOT selling.
Geely will be stuck with the coolray and okavango as sellers.
How does this compare to the VW Lamando & the MG6 ? Kyle
the MG’s interior is not as premium. The Lamando is great but the ride is geared towards a more sporty feel, so it’s not as comfy on daily drives.

It's pretty subdued inside. One of the best in the class. The noise is from the mic
Tire must upgrad. ChaoYan is not good tire. Shifted to Westlake napaka kunat na gulong. Tried sa 30mins sa mabato. Papunta kasi Quary.

Yes, kaka test drive lang namin kahapon at recommended talaga siya na 1st car. Mainly because ang ganda ng handling niya at yung power na binigay niya ay sakto lang.

130kph binabantayan ako mi misis kasi halata nya di normal takbo ko. Can push this up to 140kph NVH syempre magbabago. Sa GC meron nag try 175kph sabi samin wag namin subukan buwis buhay na kasi.
The emgrand shouldnt be a taxi car hahaha else the budget luxury prestige would be gone.

Still the main problem with the emgrand is the pricing.
It's basically a new entry with 0 historical value priced comparably to a mid variant vios which is worse in looks but greater in every other aspect with historical tangible value in the form of a resale value.
And chaoyang tires. Never heard of such chaoyang tires.
Pinoys and families limited to such budget will not RISK it on a new comer model from a new comer brand.
Thats too much at risk.
Lower the price until it becomes too good to pass up. For now, they will pass on the emgrand and stick with the tried and tested vios.

Have you personally seen and touched the interior of an emgrand? Interior materials? The steering wheel's black plastic buttons screams CHINA! The tech is backwards, all dependent on the infotainment system not going haywire. Heck how do you drive and change drive modes by using the touchscreen without getting into an accident? The sunroof likewise also controlled by the touchscreen. When that touchscreen display goes out, almost all your socalled tech becomes a liability.
Yes the size factor comes into play but Pinoys going for size will automatically go NOT FOR A SEDAN.
Those REALLY CONCERNED WITH A SEDAN will always go for either a crossover, mpv and SUV!
The emgrand will be a DUD like the azkarra. Out of its natural price range.
The coolray takes on its competitors!
The okavango also blows its competitors by a mile!
Just by that turbo engine alone, the dricing experience is miles away! From the common car.

it's such a bummer that the driving modes need to be controlled through the screen. that was truly disappointing bc you have to juggle on that screen just to change modes or when opening the sunroof.
With all due respect…. Chinese the only thing they know how to do is copying other brands….. really low quality….. literally pure garbage……
