Just got a GV70 2.5T Advanced and love it. I drove both the 3.5TT and the 2.5T and find the smaller engine has plenty of power. In shopping for a car in this segment I was looking first for safety/technology and second for comfort. The GV70 hit it out of the park.

How's the ride quality? Is it quiet? Does it handle road imperfections well? Any interior rattle noise?

I too bought the 2.5T Advanced Trim and it is a great car and enough power and handling. It has all the technology/safety I need on a new car and it is also comfort. I feel I made a great choice and you can't beat the price.

I also bought the GV70. It has a very smooth, quiet ride and enough power to satisfy my needs. I agree the 2.5T is not as refined as it could be but my focus was technology, comfort and reliability. Yes, everybody jump on their horror stories about Hyundai now but I have a 10 year old Kia Optima SX Turbo and it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. The few problems I did have were covered completely by Kia, even after the end of the original warranty. No other brands on this list would even consider that. Audi and especially BMW is nowhere near the reliability level I need in a daily driver. Genesis wins this round for me!

I have driven all 4 vehicles and I believe this review underrates the GV 70 driving experience. The X3 may beat the GV 70 on a track but in terms of everyday spirited driving the GV 70 is awesome. My pick is the GV 70 of the the tested vehicles. Other than this one point the review is bang on

Just got a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige (Uyuni white over red/charcoal). To me, inside and out, the Genesis brings a fresh face, smart design language, it's different in a great way. A 3.5 loaded is $5-12K less expensive and gives up nothing but a brand name. Genesis is serious..........

All great vehicles, but I find myself agreeing with your assessment. Nothing drives like a BMW. We recently purchased a 2022 BMW X3 M40i with 3,500 miles on it and it’s unreal. It is a firmer ride for the typical SUV, but that’s the price you pay for great performance and handling. Our other vehicle is a 2023 Audi Allroad which is pretty similar to the Q5. It’s very smooth, quick (not BMW quick), and pleasant to drive. Definitely doesn’t corner like the BMW. For me - if I were taking a really long road trip or had to have the better AWD performance I’d definitely take the Audi. In every other scenario I’d take the BMW. Enjoyed your video.

Volvo B6 solves all the issues mentioned(Lag) with the added electric supercharger. Also if you actually drove and sat in the cars you would know the fit/finish of the XC60 in significantly superior to the X3's. *note I own an X3, was about to trade in for a newer X3 M40i, but the creaks and plastic rattles, poor fit/finish left me disappointed, too much plastic wrapped in leather... But its still plastic and when you ride over bumps or turn hard you can hear the plastic creaking. I test drove and XC60 B6 later, although not as quick the fit/finish and quality of materials is infinitely superior.

My new 2023 B5 Ultimate is even better, love the new google interface and the mild hybrid adds 3 MPG. I agree with the video, I think the BMW is the best here, but you'll also pay more for it, unlike BMW/Audi/MB, Volvo is giving discounts off MSRP (I got $4K off sticker). If you value comfort over sport, the Volvo is the way to go, and the B5 is plenty of power.

For me it would be GV70 all the way. Think about it... five/six years from now the exterior and especially interior will hold up perfectly with all the newer and redesigned models coming out. The fact that every next model is probably going to be full electric anyway means these are probably the last petrol vehicles to ever be available, so the other competitors will just keep looking older and older!
You guys watch - there is going to be so many GV70s on the road that they will probably become cliche. Haha that's the only thing that I think could hurt this car.

I' have both the Q5 and GV-70. Big difference for me is the dealer service experience (I have used two Genesis service centers) - and while the Genesis promises a lot with their warranty and valet service - their service is awful on almost every level compared to Audi - BMW and Mercedes (which I have also owned recently). Finally Genesis USA 's office is terrible at responding to complaints about dealer service problems including not honoring the valet service promise.

Slightly biased towards the Genesis. As a premium car buyer I felt Genesis is still not in that league yet, it is a nice looking car inside and out but I didn't enjoy driving it. Also, disagree that XC60 has an outdated infotainment, it's actually better than others with Android automotive, google integration and a powerful sound system, the only complaint would be absence of physical climate control buttons.

I don't see the need for physical climate control buttons. Climate is something I don't change much and it's usually on auto. But I guess others do. The Volvo design is getting older now. The new-gen XC90 will be out end of year but won't be called an XC90 and will be EV only. As for the GV70, it may very well be premium and in the league. It has a beautiful interior and it seems the quality is outstanding.

I personally would take the X3. It’s exterior and interior styling is subdued yet has an air of sophistication. The cargo area is very usable due to his depth, width, and boxier rear end. I don’t like the excessively sloped rears of many modern suvs from a practicality standpoint

    • @marcgallant5270
      @marcgallant5270 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It can be deceiving, I have a 2015 X3 and recently went car shopping fully expecting to trade in for a new X3 M40i. The fit and finish has gone downhill, the amount of plastic creak/rattling left me speechless! Although it looks well built and drives incredibly it's a different story when driving. I test drove 3 X3's just to make sure and they all had. Minor but noticeable rattling and plastic creak. Its unacceptable for a BMW IMO.
The following week I randomly stopped in Volvo, not expecting much since I was disappointed in my 2001 S80(ford years) reliability, although I was always impressed by how quiet and smooth they drove. I was blown away by the fit/finish and just how quiet it was. Simple, elegant, minimalist ,quiet and smooth. 0 rattles, 0 creaks and significantly better fit/finish. As a BMW fan I was trying to find reasons not to like the XC60 B6 but I couldn't fault it.

    Hey team,
Thx for the review - Well done!!
The GV70 offers a wide variety of modes for the driver to enjoy.
As I approach 60 yrs old (and I'm a bit of a car guy) I totally love the luxury & comfort side of vehicles BUT also what to turn it up when I can. This GV70 3.5TT should really be about $20-$50K higher priced. It simply does everything really well and is 2nd to none is this segment when it comes to ride quality, comfortness, quietness all while surrounding the occupants with massive luxury features.
It is called the baby Bentayga for many reasons. It is so quiet & refined when you want it to be - When you're stuck in traffic or going no where fast. My wife asked me if it was an EV as it was so quiet. Those double paned windows really make a huge difference. Plus the massaging seat is nice!!
When you want to drive spiritedly switch it into Sports + mode and you easily hear the roar of the engine and the sweet exhaust notes while enjoying the rear wheel driving bias sporty experience.
In comparison, the RDX A Spec it an excellent top rated vehicle but that engine is super noisy vs the GV70 and its a much more stiffer ride. Plus I wasn't impressed with the 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds to the GV 70's of 5.7 (4.9 seconds in the V-6). And the RDX weighs 450 lbs less.
Its the luxury components/options, higher tech, standard features & options, the ride quality (can be extremely quiet & smooth AND aggressive and sweet exhaust notes) that makes this GV 70 THE clear winner in segment.
Overall the CLEAR winner for me the is the GV70 3.5TT in Sport trim level. I'll take it in that Gorgeous Mauna Red exterior colour with 2 tone interior combination please:-)
In Canada that full load price is $76,500 plus taxes. The F&PDI is included in that price. No discounts from that at all.
The electrified version is coming out in 2023 but in Canada the top trim level will be about $25K-$35K higher cost to the ICE version. Besides its NO Gas requirement the EV version is a littler quicker with 0-60 times 4.3 to 4.6 seconds. For me I'd put down my deposit yesterday if the EV version had a time in the 3.5 second range. It will have a 500 kms range on a full charge.
PS - Lots of dealer problems with Genesis in the States. Here in Vancouver No problems at all. I have 3 dealers within 40 minutes and the nearest is 15 mins away.
    Cheers all!!

I own a Q5 which is a great allrounder, including in snow and offroad, but dislike the facelift and also the interior got worse. I agree that the X3 is the best of the pack, but dislike the infotainment, it’s buggy and some things just useless and weird. Volvo is just not my type, never liked our XC90. If BMW revamped the infotainment it would win big IMO. I really like this size SUV but am having a hard time finding my next vehicle in this class.

Much of this comparison is very subjective. My opinions on styling are very different from yours.
I drive an Audi A4, and happen to really like the Q5. The Genesis is interesting, but I just don't care for either the BMW or Volvo. I've always thought the X3 was one of the least attractive SUVs on the road. It follows after the X5 which was the best looking SUV when it first came out, and now is unappealing.

GV70 interior is modern and beautiful ? In what planet ? Have you seen the new modern design of BMW and Mercedes ? From these four cars only Volvo stands as beautiful , the rest three cars has a tablet like a foreign body on the front. They build the car and then they said ... oh ! why don't we put a screen somewhere here? I mean i hate it. Of course is all subjective, but this a flaw design. Volvo's infotainment is unique and google powered so there is no comparison there to any model in the market. Outside, yes GV70 looks futuristic but also cheap, for my taste Volvo has much more classy design and sweet lines. By the way i am a Peugeot RXH owner.
