Honestly I find tough runs like these better for these how to videos as frost does a really good job of showing what to do when the cards are against you
My words can't possibly describe how much I love the time eater. Every time my deck gets an infinite, or plays billion cards a turn. The act boss is time-eater. Everytime I'm not doing that, it's not time eater.
Holy shit, the roller coaster of getting potion seller right before burning elite, then getting a really scary strength slavers, having a flex potion, drawing dagger spray in the opening hand, then quick slash coming in and drawing the blade dance. Absolutely banger content right there.
That's funny cause I just got addicted to this game. After unlocking everything in Ironclad. I had my first The Silent run and it felt OP like I was getting everything good and loving the discards. Then that boss and his freaking 12 cards shit lol. It caught by big surprise didn't even know why my turns were ending lol. So yeah he beat me after my last turn was only 1 card.
its god tier on discard decks though I go infinite a lot with it he used a bunch of crutch early game cards and it kinda hosed him in the end. I was hoping he would take the artifact because i wasnt seeing him winnign the final fight with the deck he had
the moment you screamed i died laughing xD that was a fantastic run tho. the amount of skill used to escape such seemingly hopeless fights so often was amazing to watch
I think I’m weird and can say that the silent is by far my weakest character, I’m ok on the iron clad, solid on defect, and a divinity wizard on the watcher, the things I’ve learned here will definitely help me climb ascensions, thank you for being so smart frost :)
This is exactly the right kind of Overexplained video for me. It's still fun and interesting, but it has better pacing and a more relaxed feel than a full tutorial. More please!
16:12 to expand on this idea, there’s another way to describe it. After the second turn of playing it, you end up equivalently playing one prepared. After the third turn, you’ve basically played a prepared+. After the fourth turn, your rare card is finally digging deeper than an upgraded common is, for more energy (unless you upgrade it). Now, there is one time it is really good, and that’s when you use it as a guaranteed enabler for the unplayable cards like Reflex and Tactician as opposed to raw card draw.
16:06 I think i realize why i always kinda disagree with Frost arguing that slow draw stuff like tools of the trade and the upgrade of the Silent's starting relic. Weighing both card and relic solely by "positive draw" metric. At the beginning parts of the game (which is coincidentally when Frost explained said metric), Frost and anyone would still have a lot of basic cards not removed yet, and the average draws are mostly basic cards and 0-2 actually useful cards, while having 3 energy. When drawing useful cards, most of the times you will not have enough energy to play the basic cards, so having a tools of the trade replacing a basic card draw is not as devastating, and i would say that leverages the benefit enough to make you consider taking the card. It does however gets worse later in the game where you have a lot more useful cards you need to play, and having one dead draw because of a singular card may cascade into a loss, with the +1 draw from a power may not bail you out of said disaster. But i think that is a bit of uncommon RNG screw ups and the Silent has so mamy cards that can get her out of a dead draw.
Just wanted to say I really appreciate the educational StS content. Keep it up frost! :) I personally still struggle with the game... I know what I should look for on each act, but I don't understand how tf you manage to craft such balanced/strong decks consistently. Some kind of "how much dmg/block/utility to pick at what point" guide would be AMAZING (if there is some way to generalize that)
Nice video :3 We need another over-explained video about the Silent just as the one about the Defect, please. You wear your formal outfit and your glasses. You spend 20 minutes talking at the beginning and each choice is like voting a law. The video will be two or three hours long. You do a beautiful and epic run with the Silent in a very traditional way (shiv, poison, skill...) You beat the Heart and we are all happy. I love you !
Hey frost, hace you played the slay the spire game? It is on tabletop simulator and me and my friends had a blast playing it, its also cooperative up to 4 players.
This is similar to my run that made it. I had the potion that bounces 3x which, I think in a few instances, could have saved you. But other than that, you had a much better built deck. Very strong card pull and more 0-cost cards.
Trying to figure out why I can’t get past ascension 2 act 2 on the silent… I guess I’m not aggressive enough, I just see all these defends and I’m like “well I better use them, the game *wants* me to 🤡
How come your pc game version has cards the Android doesn't have? Is it expansions or just updated more on pc? I can't play silent and not die without upgrade neutralise 😂 sucks if you lose to much hp and can't upgrade. Thanks for the guide, I've plated like 50 games with silent but I'm still so bad at working into builds and rely on luck on relics to own ascension 20
i have been wondering something about frost: why does he sqwint sometimes ? for what he does it a lot actually im just curious so yea if enyone knows pls answer me
Hey frost, how would you go about creating an entirely new character? I got an idea for a character that’s all about moving enemies and overkill damage.
Didn't realize that expertise could actually be good draw, I usually never pick it up but this video might make me try taking in some situations, especially considering how it was your only draw for most of the run
Legit had the same thing happen to me two days ago. I had crafted the literal best deck I have ever made. 100% to kill on turn 1. I got a ton of card removal in act one and got the relic that drew a card when you hand is empty and my deck was neutralize, 2 acrobatics, 3 slice, 2 deflect, 2 expertise, 3 concentrate, 1 blade storm and a storm of steel Got to act three a saw the timekeeper and wanted to die 😂
Kinda late to the party but there was a shop near the end of the run that had the relic that makes a card innate. Not sure if it works on all card types but wouldn't having panache in every opening hand be really good for consistency?
Nah, it's a trio of relics (bottled flame, lightning and tornado) that innate your attacks, powers and skills respectively and the one he saw was flame so for attack
This video helped me through my vasectomy, so while that might make you feel weird, just know it isnt as weird as it felt for my balls. Thanks frost! (/srs)
The burning elites kill you easily? I mean I take half my hp at most. The dazes are annoying af but I get lucky on my draws enough and just keep lowering their dmg and chipping them. Gbh tho never bothered looking at the elite symbols didn’t know I was going into burning elites lol.
If you did an overexplained on binding of Isaac I might actually watch that content. What are the big issues for me with that game, and I imagine some others might feel like this, is that I have no idea what the fuck is going on, I don't know the stakes, I don't know the bills, I have no idea what pills are cards do, the game is just so much more than it was when I and probably most people played it back when it didn't have any expansions
Honestly I find tough runs like these better for these how to videos as frost does a really good job of showing what to do when the cards are against you
Agreed this show definitely showed me some insight on the silent
When the cards are against you?
Do you mean like always?
It seemed pretty average. He drew the nuts almost every elite and drew dead against random early encounters which set him behind.
My words can't possibly describe how much I love the time eater. Every time my deck gets an infinite, or plays billion cards a turn. The act boss is time-eater. Everytime I'm not doing that, it's not time eater.
I think it is programmed as such.
Holy shit, the roller coaster of getting potion seller right before burning elite, then getting a really scary strength slavers, having a flex potion, drawing dagger spray in the opening hand, then quick slash coming in and drawing the blade dance. Absolutely banger content right there.
how to play the silent: Die to time eater

@@roxienaturaI have not seen Catalyst the last like 7 runs with The Silent
Frost caught me at the end seeing how much time was left XD
I felt so caught in the act, like a kid with their hand in the cookie jar.
same lol but I checked back at the transient..
Frost's explanation of how Tools of the trade works was actually pretty eye-opening
its god tier on discard decks though I go infinite a lot with it he used a bunch of crutch early game cards and it kinda hosed him in the end. I was hoping he would take the artifact because i wasnt seeing him winnign the final fight with the deck he had
Love this style of video! the overexplain runs can be quite dense at times, this was the perfect balance between explanation and not taking 6 hours
the moment you screamed i died laughing xD that was a fantastic run tho. the amount of skill used to escape such seemingly hopeless fights so often was amazing to watch
When I saw time eater, I legit looked at the progress bar, then frost called me out dang

I love these types of StS videos, especially with your relaxed personality. Please make more!
Just sitting down for lunch time and seeing “new video uploaded 11mins ago” what a dream
I WAS THERE FOR THE SHIRT THING!!!
Great run! Silent is the only character I can do A20 pretty consistently with, and it’s always great to learn how to further improve with her.
Alternate title: How to play the silent when Rng clotheslines you into the shadow realm.
Been waiting on this one! Love the content my dude!
I was lawfull, i didnt look at the time until the 50 damage atack was clearly unblockable, that said, cool video and nive to take notes
lmfao right before he said "if you're on youtube dont move your mouse" i had just done it. my bad frosty boi
I feel like I was caught red handed there at that part with the thing with that one guy who does that one thing. Absolutely perfect timing

This was maybe the tightest run you've ever done. You came out of every fight by the skin of your teeth. Amazing content, king. 👑
I made it to A20 on silent a few days ago but already before you even started the 1st fight i learned more than a few things. Going for ironclad next.
Love the vids where you brain dump your thought process as the focus!
Love teaching vids they are super helpful!!!
So sad I couldn't catch the stream, but I'm glad my favorite TH-camr, Andrew, is doing a run explaining

Top tier Perro Tshirt. Does Hardyboy approve?
I only buy "Discover" when I see it for colorless cards
Jokes on you frost, i did it before you told me to not check the time left
I’d have duped the panache considering your draw.
Why is Magnetism bad? I pick it up whenever I can? Is there something wrong with Magnetism?

I find it really funny that I’m the first fight of act 1, you had horrible draw rng but in the boss fight of act 1, you had near perfect draw rng
