I randomly stumbled upon your channel by typing "how to find keys in STS" - and oh boy am I addicted to your content now! I had played about 50+ hours of STS before watching your tuto videos, and I've realized I'm still a beginner! The Silent is my favourite character and I thought I was good at playing her. I'm not so sure about that anymore... Here are a few of the most important tips I learned by watching this video: - Do not add cards to your deck that do not have an immediate value! (I tended to do the opposite, adding cards and hoping I would get some complementary cards later on) - Do not upgrade the basic set of Strikes and Defends! (Again, I was all wrong as I would systematically upgrade all my Defends) - Always upgrade the strongest card in your deck first! - Spend more time analyzing the map and also the card options after a combat! (I tend to rush into what I think is the best option, whereas sometimes it's clearly not the case) - Do not use a defensive card to block only 1 damage! (I very much hate taking damage, even the tiniest amount...) - The first cards your need to add to your deck in Act 1 should be damage-oriented! (I've always given more importance to defense) Thanks Baalor for these tips, I've defeated the Heart for the first time yesterday! (In Ascension 0, does that still count?) Also, I'm French and I love your accent. Not sure whether it's American, British, Australian or Irish, but I love it.
Hello Baalorlord, I just beat the heart for the first time after about 50hrs of play. Thankyou so much for your help! Small subtle differences and things you point out actually add up to make huge differences in the end! thanks for taking the time to put this guide together.
20:50 For some reason, I thought you were going to say something along the lines of “Lastly, one way you can block your opponent is by killing them.” here, and I was about to laugh hysterically.
I really think you did a great job explaining the whole game for both people who do not know about this game and people who just pick up this game and is trying to learn it. even though i already know some of the basic things about StS, your tips do help me alot to venture through this game. It gaves me alot of insights and thoughts to play my next run. Thank you so much for this wonderful video and patience to teach
I love Baalorlord's content, but I also find it hilarious that throughout the entire run he kept saying "I don't usually recommend this, but I think it could be good here" then proceeds to wreck face with exactly what he says to not do.
@@johnsmithjr.9321well it's a lot of practice. Trust me this dude has failed a ton too. That's how he knows so much. He's put in I wanna say over a thousand hours at least into this game. That's a lot of runs.
I spend alot of tried trying to beat it as the silent and often just died in turn 2 due to no block but actually with this guide I made it through in the first attempt after this video. Had arround the same build, no malaise sadly but this block shiv build just worked wonders, I went for more elites then I thought could be healthy, survived all allmost perfectly. Didnt needed a Kunai, got a bit damaged during the Heart but I´m happy to say I dont ever have to try this nightmare ever again with the caracter. I think I got more knowledge on what do do to win and now really like Leg Sweep more then I would thought, it´s quite a strong 2 cost
SAME, I very often will take more damage against nob or laga just to save potions for the slime fight and sometimes preparing for slime gets me killed also 😂
Just recently got into slay the spire and have been taking on Heart runs now. I just want to say thank you for these really informative videos for newer players like me. Theyre awesome
I've been watching your videos for awhile now and in the past week have had first-time heart wins with Silent, Defect, and Watcher. The best piece of advice I got from these videos for going against the heart was to fill up the row of relics and thus not to avoid the tough act 3 elites. I had a record (for me) 26 relics when I won with Defect (also helped that I picked up Black Star along the way). Good stuff, thanks!
I've been playing this game on and off for years, but have never been able to beat the heart. Well, I watched this video yesterday and beat the heart on my second run and it wasn't even that hard. Great video.
I love you bro.. I watched your 11-0 Ironclad video and beat the heart on my fist try… I’m literally sniping every one of your videos for every character… 😂
I've only started STS with about 30 hours sunk into it. Keep coming to your videos for your amazing insight and explanation that's suited to beginners.. Love your videos!! ❤
Just completed my first Spire ever thanks to a lot of the things you mentioned in this video. The game apparently wanted me to go with a Shiv build, as it offered me 2 Accuracy early on. I would end up seeing 3 Cloak and Daggers, 2 Blade Dance, Storm of Steel, and an Infinite Blades to go along with Adrenaline and a couple Backflips for draw. 3rd floor sealed the deal by giving me Terror, 2 upgraded Phantasmal Image, and a third Accuracy. Needless to say, the damage was pumping. Didn't get my 999 on the Heart, but managed 812.
that was fucken amazing! the idea you had for the deck and thorough explanations of choices, why or why not, we should or should not do this and that. amazing. i will subscribe! awesome stuff!
I was waiting for this video... This is the type of character I would use in RPGs but I wasn't able to make it work at all for me. I'm only on a5 and keep getting time eater in act 3 and struggling because I usually end up with a big deck of low energy cards...
So one endless run I was doing on Silent, I had several poison cards and three upgraded catalyst, needless to say, 3600 poison kills hexaghost pretty easily
This was helpful despite having well over 1k hours in this game. I’m so good at the game that it causes me to get sloppy sometimes and (usually) not get severely punished for it, so it’s nice to go back to basics and be reminded of the fundamentals. I hope you continue these guides for the other characters.
I’ve recently broken through a wall and have reached A10+ with Ironclad and Defect, but I’ve lost my past 6 or 7 runs in a row on A6 with the silent 😭 Usually by the time I reach act 3 on other characters I pretty much know it’s a guaranteed win, but with the silent I feel like I’m barely scraping by for the entire run
thats really interesting, pretty much the exact opposite of my experience ^^ silent was my first a20, and ironclad was my last, silent deck strategies seemed to come naturally, ironclad took some learning
Cool hand. I just discovered your channel and have been watching a lot of your videos. Do you have a video using the silent killing the heart with a hand full of poison cards?
my favorite deck (perpetual draw panache) is almost always impossible to get with the silent because you are locked to buying or transforming panache, and you need a very good draw engine on top of the very expensive stuff you get wish i could consistently pull it off, i didn't even get to the keys when i first did it, and never got to see it again in action
Oh here’s a thing about the heart you didn’t mention. That Invincible 300(200 on Max Ascension levels) it has? That’s a cap on how much damage the player is physically deal per turn. Once it hits 0 all damage gets blocked automatically for that turn.

Currently I'm on A2 with the other characters (because I've never touched them again), but I've managed to claw my way up to A18 with her. Just today I managed the last run on A17. But I got incredibly lucky. I started out, picking a colorless card (Dramatic Entrance), then first picked Blade Dance and got Deadbranch as my first relic. The first shop let me buy Medical Kit. After defeating the Guardian, I got a Pandora's Box and ended up with two Crippling Clouds which crippled my run the whole time (never once used them). With 2 Blade Dance+, Adrenaline+, an intentionally picked Storm of Steel+ (it performed great), Expertise, Tactician+, Terror+, Acrobatics+, Cloak and Dagger+, a Piercing Wail, Prepared+, Dagger Throw, and a few useless other cards, the deck was quite neat. It ran very well, also thanks to Gremlin Horn (against so many elites it kept me going), Lantern (providing good acceleration), Busted Crown as the only energy relic (yes it was good, the deck was done at that point - I didn't pick another card, trusting fully in Dead Branch), towards the end I also got Snecko Skull, Bronze Scales, as well as Tungsten Rod, from the last fight before the Heart. Talk about lucky. I barely had a block plan. Tanked a thick hit from the heart and used Piercing Wail for the multi attack. And then I had already done enough damage. Throughout the run I even removed a Thousand Cuts (because it was too slow, I needed the energy). Useless cards in the deck: Blur, Footwork, 2 Crippling Clouds, Flying Knee, Bandage Up (mistakenly purchased it, I was always full health when I drew it). I'm not sure whether or not Survivor helped the deck perform or not. The Dagger Throw was better in my opinion. I had twice similar build in my runs and was always destroyed by the Time Keeper (or however the 3rd act boss allowing only to play 12 cards is called) :( so annoying! :D
Been ramming my head in ascension 7/8 for silent with no luck. Better to keep trying runs at that level or go down to 5 to practice? Note - need to beat with Defect first as still havent unlocked act 4 😅
I'd suggest to always go for higher ascension. Practicing A5 won't necessarily prepare you for A10, as you might learn lessons that won't be applicable on higher ascension levels. Dying and analysing what killed you instead (was it slow deck, lack of draw, lack of scaling, poor hp management, etc.) will be more helpful. The thing that helped me the most was trying out cards I used to avoid. Like exhaust synergies on Ironclad or discard on Silent.
I would’ve skipped the artifact choice entirely with the velvet choker, sozu, and coffee dropper choice. They were all horrible drawbacks. I can understand why you took the coffee dropper though. I’m horrible about budgeting my HP which is why I wouldn’t have taken it.
After 344 hours or so The Silent being my go to and The Watcher only fun with proper deck. But my question is Shiv or Poison build Shiv with the +4 or 6 upgraded card or Poison with Exploding corpse a OP spell in Divinity Original sin 2. Also came here because i have made it the Heart around 14 times and always get my ass handed to me after fighting the duo before the Corrupt Heart.
As many as you can, ideally. Starting cards are pretty much always bad and Snecko makes them worse. Usually you remove strikes before defends unless you're playing the Watcher, or you're the Ironclad and you get Brimstone in an early shop.
Hey Baalor! I don't get a chance to watch you live, but curious if you're familiar with Against The Storm? I don't normally like to cold recommend games, but I've been playing 2 weeks and am impressed at how refreshing & elegant a Roguelike/City builder it is. Takes all the stuff I love about Civ (expansion & economic challenges) and distills it down into more focused, shorter experience. The Roguelike building access & meta progression really seem like it will provide solid replay value too.
I can't imagine taking Trip over Catalyst AND removing a Strike. But whatever works, I guess? At least you mention how good you think Catalyst is. Always respect the Catalyst. But I would have taken Catalyst, and then went to the next shop to see what it had and remove Strike if nothing better.
This run really showed that you have to use what the game gives you. Baalor hardly saw any poison cards. I think the catalyst would have been a liability.
@@OleoayBecause Trip is a 0 cost Vulnerable Terror costs 1 to cast; Not to mention how you should play the game with the mindset of "What if I don't get this card/combo", because what if he doesn't get Terror? He used Trip a lot in the 1st Act; Which is the point it costs 0 and doesn't need an upgrade to be impactful, in the 1st act.
I've got to admit, I really dislike the energy relics of StS because of their downside. Some times you can work around them, but generally losing an entire resource (gold, upgrades, health, potions, cards, cards played or runic dome making non-easy combats into the wheel of abandon run) seems like such a bad deal for what should be a reward. I'd love to see either a way around the downside, even if only partially, or a relic or 2 that give the upside for no downside. There aren't many relics that can be as bad as they are good, why do boss ones have to be so?
Because if you have more energy, you’ll take less damages in combat, so why bother healing at campfire you want to upgrade anyway You can also take more draw effect card, so that a curse won’t matter that much Or you can pick up importât mana expensive card and focus on taking only upgraded card for draw or heart purposes
@@Rommythegeek Weeell, you almost never see BaalorLord pick up a curse unless he can immediately remove it, he'd rather skip a relic, which is a bad thing to have to do. Of course more energy makes fights easier, but the downside goes part way to negating that advantage. To me, the negative aspect should phase in during ascension with a description like 'Boss relics are worse'
@@Thisisthegreatestatofalltime idk man, I beat the heart several times with the others characters. But thinking about it, I think you're right, because with the silent I think you must know what you're doing Unlike the others where you can rush your way through busted cards like corruption, omniscient....

I can clearly see I have not played enough in the past few months. I'm still not used to Accuracy being playable.
I’m a simple man, I see catalyst, I take it. If I’m playing shivs, nope, not anymore.
50:05 act II elite summary
I might get as many deaths on Silent as I did Watcher
Apothosis, After image, wrath form, burst, deadly poision, catalyst, catalyst, catalyst.
Game over.
🙌👏
I've got to admit, I really dislike the energy relics of StS because of their downside. Some times you can work around them, but generally losing an entire resource (gold, upgrades, health, potions, cards, cards played or runic dome making non-easy combats into the wheel of abandon run) seems like such a bad deal for what should be a reward. I'd love to see either a way around the downside, even if only partially, or a relic or 2 that give the upside for no downside. There aren't many relics that can be as bad as they are good, why do boss ones have to be so?
Because if you have more energy, you’ll take less damages in combat, so why bother healing at campfire you want to upgrade anyway
You can also take more draw effect card, so that a curse won’t matter that much
Or you can pick up importât mana expensive card and focus on taking only upgraded card for draw or heart purposes

Save scum match and keeeeepp!!
I haven't watched it. But one copy of caltrops will do half the job for you.
Two copies gets the full job done
Assuming you draw it early enough. Unfortunately, Caltrops isn't the greatest for the rest of the run.
Come back with your guide when it is for A20, pal. We don't need A5 guides, OKAY?
Worst character imo
She's pretty OP. Maybe start taking piercing wail
Skill issue
@@Thisisthegreatestatofalltime idk man, I beat the heart several times with the others characters.
But thinking about it, I think you're right, because with the silent I think you must know what you're doing
Unlike the others where you can rush your way through busted cards like corruption, omniscient....
