There are several components to getting a good result. One place I found that successfully combines these is the Magic Painter Method (check it out on google) definately the most helpful course i've seen. look at this awesome resource.
Aaaahhhh, that moment when you're really getting in the flow. You're in the groove. Your timing is just right. The motion and the overlap are perfect. You're in the zone - and then you suddenly can't remember if you taped off the headlight you just sprayed over...

I have 40+ years and have developed a tolerance to isocyanates which are in the hardeners. When I went to a specialist in Boston the Dr's first response was wow 40 years exposure and still alive!

@@marqware4049 I was a painters helper once and quit that job and went to work for another body shop and i told the owner i never painted a whole car and one day he left in an emergency and told me to paint it,That paint job came out so well ,from that day on i became official painter. funny how life works out when you just move out in Faith.and lose the fear.

I work in a automotive factory and I'm a painter it's so cool watching this done in a garage is so different but also educational. We have a paint booth with water under us and humidity at a certain temp. Then also baking takes about 750 seconds. We painted 247 cars in a 9 hour shift super crazy but I love watching these videos.

Follow your passion, I've seen young cats that suuuuucked at painting at first but they loved it to death,so they kept going and eventually became professional level
I used to paint for many years as my profession, before going back to school and moving into IT work. I would always, always, always spray down the booth with water before doing any painting. It will decrease trash in the paint by probably 90%. Im only at the part in the video where you laid down the first coat of sealer, so I don’t know if you will do it or not, but it’s an amazing pro-tip, especially for guy trying to do it in a non-professional environment.
I would suggest doing it. It sometimes does raise the humidity in the booth but is a big help.

I love to see things get painted and restored. Like when I use my airbrush to paint and restore old sneakers. The paint job looks so smooth and professional. So relaxing.

Been watching hundreds of car spray videos, I have to admit your video is the most complete and helpful one. You gave all the answers that many of us beginners wanted to know. The methods, the mixing, and the one most people skip, the flash times between coats. Brilliant advise. Thanks.
The only thing they missed is to strain your paint when pouring it into a gun. Also. Those mirrors cant look good in person at all. No way to spray the back if on the car. They should have been removed.
Listen to this guy his got a lot of time in the booth , the experience , the knowledge, the privilege, the appreciation, the respect . Needs to be given.

Slowly getting better and better. Starting to enjoy painting now. I sold a red Chevy truck to a lady an told her fender was repaired and clear coat blended. She said I can't tell. I hugged her
Your tip of sanding the first coat was spot on! Saved my paint job.
Tip: Painting without booth try weting floor to keep dirt n debris from flying up. Thats something my uncle showed me when painting in his garage.
I also see this often done with/in a booth!
Last part of this video with him saying don’t chase perfection really helped me feel better about my spray job. I just sprayed my car and I have some runs and mistakes but it all can be buffed out. For a garage job I would have to say I did pretty good. I haven’t painted for almost 16 years and to do a whole car after that long of a time I would have to say I did a damn good job. Thank you for making me feel better about how I painted my car!

@@PaintSociety so when the base is sprayed you can lightly sand to flatten and reveal dust nibs. Then more base can be sprayed. Then when you clear coat you DON'T sand the base again? This is the past I'm not sure about, please let me know!
Karl R Miller do not sand the final base coat before laying down clear. Especially with metallic paint. It will show through the clear

I don't think I've ever found a youtube channel like yourself that explains in great detail how to spray paint cars. The advice you give on spray guns, Psi/ wide open what distance you should be spraying/ Times to spray your second coat. The list goes on.
You have amazing skills. A great paint technician. Your wealth of knowledge is incredible and valuable. And to hear in your other videos your self taught. Speaks many words, Thankyou so much for the time you have taken to offer your time and advice to help many people such as myself that wants to learn how to do it the right way. On how to spray paint. Weather its a vehicle or such as myself like doing restoration work on machinery. Thanks brian loving your channel. Your a talented and wonderful guy. It's really not hard man , just follow the steps and tape off everything you don't want paint on and like dude said if you make a mistake just sand and try again. Or buy a piece of sheet metal and practice on that

So many great tips for the amateur and the professional. #1 tip..... don't chase perfection!!! Some of my best jobs have been on projects that I thought were fun and didn't need to be perfect. The high end jobs, I have gotten into trouble with because I stressed too much and forgot to relax and have fun. Painting, for me is therapeutic, relax.

What I do when painting in my garage is I hose down the entire floor and keep it wet when spraying, that way it catches most of the dust and overspray
My luck would be the air hose dragging in the water, then slinging it onto the paint 🤷🏼♂️
Maybe just keep it slightly damp then.

The only thing I can say (cause this just happened to me) adjust your air before you hook it up to your moisture filter at your gun. Mine blew up on me. Luckily I wasnt painting anything important yet. Maybe this is common knowledge for more experienced painters. 150psi blew my filter up like a bomb. Haha
60% prep and 40% talent. Prep everything perfectly, clean and tack the shit out of the car beforehand and make sure you wet the paint booth with a water hose beforehand. It will keep dust, dirt and other particles from kicking up in the air and getting in the wet paint. And lay 3 coats of clear, that way you can wet sand out any imperfections since you are inexperienced. Be sure to use the correct temp reducer/activator. That can absolutely destroy a paint job if not correctly chosen for the ambient temp.
turn back while you still can if you plan to use the car in the next 6 months. I'm 9 months into my job and have over 300 hours into it, it's being finished up and taped for base/clear this week.
