I'm pretty sure everyone stopped their run for 10 minutes when they first meet Eurydice.
I'm still a bit early in the game, met her three times already, and it still pains me to leave the chamber she's in.
It's much needed respite in the middle of hell, of course you'd hate to go, but the lesson here is, no matter how beautiful a situation is, you'll eventually have to move on, to fulfill your endeavors and aspirations.
I have 38h so far and every single time I'm at Eurydice's I have to listen to the full song at least once. more often than not I stay for one more rendition. I just love this little piece of peace among the inferno. and that song is so serene.

She's trying to sooth the souls in Asphodel. You can see the hot melty souls around the room listening. She's singing to them. About their existence. She tries to imply they're even " mild and warm safe from all harm " trying to sooth their burning. The song is about being dead.
It is. She also sings of her freedom and loneliness
All the stone statues and art and spirits in that room have smiles on them.

The best thing about eurydice imo is that her chamber pauses the timer so even if you're going for a fast clear time, you can still stop and listen
The intense gameplay I had contrasted with the calmness of the room where this gets played honestly made me take a step back when I entered it, and just appreciate the fact that I truly loved a game for the first time in well over a year. Can't say enough good things about this game, if someone reading this is on the fence about buying it, either right now or when it's done, I warmly recommend it

YES. There's that *sigh* sound effect when you enter Eurydice's room, and often (esp. on high heat), I can hear and feel myself taking a deep breath with it, releasing some gameplay tension. Incredible.

@@dan_zhang Yeah exactly that, you got shit blowing up all around you while you zap around in literal hell with lava and stuff everywhere, then out of nowhere it's just a breath of air as this song plays. Goddammit the more I think about the more I realize how amazingly detailed this game is in small ways like that, and all this is just a small part of the whole game, it's unreal what they have done and do with it :')
I just got this game during the steam summer sale and i had the same reaction. This game is definitely deserving of the Steam community's "Overwhelmingly positive" rating

Something else I absolutely love beside the song is Eurydice's (and most other characters') design. It looks like an artbook iteration that most studios would've told the artist to simplify because it would be "too much" for mainstream audiences. I just feel glad I'm able to look at it.
the art for the character portraits are much higher quality than the MAIN characters in many triple A games. every single one has beautiful details

@@sophiesantosE Yep! Hahah Their music was always one of the things that really helped them stand out as an indie developer. Hades is their newest title, but they also made Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.
They're all quite different though, both in story genre and gameplay. Bastion is a heavily narrated apocalyptic fantasy that plays like a slower-paced early version of Hades. Transistor is an ambiguous sci-fi story with turn-based action elements mixed into the regular real-time combat. And Pyre is basically a blend between a fantasy visual novel and a sports tournament about people trying to compete for freedom from exile.
All worth looking into in my opinion, but it's worth knowing that Supergiant likes to take a swing at something different in every game. They all usually go pretty cheap during the Steam Summer sale if you're interested.

My dog died the night before I reached the room to this song. The next day when I decided to game and take my mind off his death.. I came into this room and stayed for hours listening to this song and crying my eyes out. Thank you for this beautiful song! It has helped me to grieve the loss of my second dog today. My kids and I listened to this song in remembrance of our dog Tonka Truck who died today. We love you Tonky Wonky.. you will always be in our hearts and always be remembered.

We lost our 12-yr old pupper Chaos just a few weeks before Christmas, 8 years ago. Even as time marches on, some holes in our hearts never completely heal. We learn to live with the loss. A year later we added a jubbly little ginger kitty to our lives, and she sometimes seems more dog than cat! But she never fails to make us smile!
I know it's been awhile and hopefully life has been better for you since then. Moments like what this music gave you & your kids make beautiful memories, and give your kids good coping skills when life throws us these curveballs.

I'm sorry for your loss, it sounds like he was very loved. Had a similar experience with my dog, I played Hades a lot with her by my side around the last month of her life. Petting Cerberus every time after that was very bittersweet.

When I entered her room for the first time and just listened to her music, I felt strangely touched, as the music reached me.
And I realized... that whoever sang this and whoever wrote this, whoever made the instrumentals, would never even see my face or know my name or realize how their beautiful music affected me. And It made me sad.
Here's to you, Ashely Barrett and whoever wrote the music. You may never know who I am, nor ever know how your music made me cry, but I appreciate you.

When I went into Eurydice's room (and sat and listened like any normal person) I was so lulled that 10 minutes later, when I left the room I genuinely had to remember what type of game I was playing and reacclimate myself with the controls

Not only is her singing heavenly and calming, her room itself is so good. Not one of her things she offers is ever bad, and are incredibly good. The room, setting, and vibe is just calm and comforting in the game

meeting Eurydice reminded me so much of meeting Zia in bastion, this moment of calm after all the action before hand and you can't help but get entranced and listen to that incredible singing for several minutes
That takes me back man. I hope one day we'll get to see a Pyre/Hades style dialogue interaction with the Bastion characters with portraits, voice, all that jazz.

As of writing this comment at 06:20 pm on 11/29/23 in my upstairs bedroom using my iPad Pro I successfully beat my first ever run of Hades after having not played the game since 07/12/22 according to Steam while live-streaming it on my Twitch channel and the VOD should be up on my TH-cam channel very soon after writing this comment. You have to complete multiple runs to unlock the full story but just one is good enough for me, lol. I’m going through a pretty rough patch in my life as of writing this comment but just by beating this game today, it gives me a little hope that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. To everyone reading this comment, thank you for being here, please never give up, we’ll all make it, I promise. “The most important thing is the unbreakable spirit.”
Getting to this room completely shifted my view of this game and made me realize how much more depth their was. I still consider myself really green with the gameplay, but I'm intensely loving this game so far. It is a gift and I am so grateful.

i was playing hades to escape from a really stressful situation and when i got into this room i sat there for 30 minutes listening and in that time the cause of all that stress was resolved and now im sitting here listening to it on youtube straight up crying. i cannot express how much i appreciate devs who go this extra mile and have music this good in their games.

her voice is heavenly. entering her room was one of those surreal moments in video games where i would just stare at the screen with a dumb smile on my face.
not to mention, i just lost my mom and sister in a car accident and i guess listening to this consoles me a little.
My favorite line is about Atlas resting his weary bones.
Eurydice and Orpheus made it so worth it going back and forth for them to reunite and make an amazing duet together.
The first time I heard Eurydice sing I was charmed and listened for a while then I heard Orpheus sing it. I felt his sadness and frustration hearing them both together I felt happy and proud to have been able to reunite them.
One day my puppy was with me in my room as I was listening to this on repeat and it moved me so much, now everytime I listen to this it brings me to tears and reminds me of how much I love her. She is alive and well btw, and always has been.
Bit late to the party, but I got really teary-eyed listening to this for the first time. Something about the lyrics, the singing voice, and the setting it is delivered in just hit me in a way no song has in quite a long time. I really have to give props to every single person who brought this masterpiece to life.

Listening to this song for the first time stopped me dead in my tracks, sat and listened for a good half hour just...enjoying the atmosphere shift from tense action melancholic rest. A year later, a random moment dawned on me why this song strikes such a specific note for me. Not at all trying to gain sympathy I swear (I'm ok now) as someone who once attempted suicide after many many considerations, even if it was for a brief moment, I crossed that threshold from clinging to life to letting go of it. I came back from the brink and survived, but a small part of me will always remember that kind of acceptance...and this song kindles that in a way that makes me tear up every time. The first time I found Eurydice I just stood by her side and listened to her sing while I was shocked at the fact that just now I just discovered this masterpiece of a game.
When you have to leave the dungeon to continue with the game, but the music is so good that you dont upset or make Eurydice stop singing.

I remember hearing her voice for the first time in Bastion. When it cuts in after hours of game music with no vocals, it's super eerie and maybe one of the best hooks I've ever experienced in a game. Ash and Darren are unbeatable.

The first time encountering this room and song reminded me of the first time playing Witcher 3, where you hear Priscilla sing her beautiful song. Totally unexpected, revealing the heart and soul poured into this experience. Tremendous job all around.
The first time I entered this room, I just sat there for 15 mins. Unexpected joy is the best kind of joy.
Whatever they payed her, it wasn't enough. She has the most angelic voice I've ever heard. Full admission, after talking to her, before moving on, I'll just stand on the dock for a minute or two just listening.

I picked up Hades for the first time in years and the moment I got to Eurydice's room and I heard this song again I just sat there completely paralyzed. The song really touches your soul. The line about Atlas and the weight of the world no longer being on his shoulders is a fitting tribute for a man who worked every single day to support his family. I remember coming across Eurydice for the first time on a particularly bad run. Got my boons upgraded, gave her some ambrosia, and then just sat outside her room and listened for a spell. It really did feel like resting my weary bones after a harrowing.
Supergiant has this special sort of touch with their games, one I ain't come across elsewhere. I can't thank them enough for the experiences that touch has given me, so I'll just enjoy them as they come, as best I can.

Im at the point of my life where everything is so chaotic and i dont know what the future lies for me... to the point that I dont even know how I feel. When i was playing the game and reached this room to hear the song for the first time, I just felt this warm, comforting yet sorrowful feeling and let this song play on loop. Thank you, Supergiant games, for being able to describe how i feel right now, and also the emotions of many people during these tough times.
when i first entered the champer after some intense battles and heard this voice i was surprised, needless to say I just stopped playing for some minutes to enjoy listening to this song. i love when games make these tybe of peaceful moments in games. reminded me when I first played Bioshock Infinite and the song 'will the circle will be broken' started to play it was one of the most memorable moments in games I've had. ❤
I want this song to be played in the meal on my funeral. Because everyone deserves a chill song when dining over my memory
