She is actually really easy to miss because she is in a place away from the main paths/areas and leaves early on in the game's storyline. So if you just focus on the main quest rather than on exploring every nook and cranny you will most likely miss her.
@@jodofe4879 I teared up a bit when I realized that wrote a full length song for a random npc encounter that is off the beaten path. (Please no spoilers, I haven't gotten very far) Larian did such a great job on this game.
I love BG3’s portrayal of Tieflings. Players and DMs often just treat them as the “edgy” choice, but here they’re humanised in a way that really brings out the tragedy of their race. Sure, they look like devils straight from the Nine Hells, but they’re just people - they love and fight, they eat food and tell stories, they mourn lost loved ones and regret missed opportunities just like everyone else. This is the song of a young bard mourning the loss of her teacher and fearing that she’ll never live up to her - the fact that she has horns and a tail is the least important part of her character.
The only people who tend to hate ''edgy'' stuff are the incels who dress like ass and who have no self confidence. They hate edge because it's about style and confidence, it's at cross-purpose with their neck-beards and their loli shirts.
I was uninterested in Tieflings. Until I saw Karlach. She is so nice, so kind and sweet.. I've never thought I will fall in love with companions so fast. After DAO companions.
When I ran into this song in the game, I was struck so hard by it. The dialogue and choices that led to the song, the scene that played out alongside the song. I almost missed it, I was about to leave the area and noticed someone off to the side I hadn’t talked to. This game really is special, for that much care put into something easily missable.

Interestingly enough, when i first heard the Song i was wasnt too impressed, but i was playing as the dark urge... After that night, i listened to it again and ever since, when i hear this song i actually cry. I genuinely dont remember playing a game that hits you this hard in the feelings.
Alfira's voice is so pure and angelic. After hearing this song, I hoped that she would go on to write many a ballad about her people -- be it their history and culture or the greatest and kindest of their heroes. I also loved to see the looks on the other companions' faces, particularly Astarion's, while they listened. They all look so soft.
My teacher from music school has died two days ago, and I couldn't stop crying. So at one moment yesterday evening this song has started playing in my YT recommendations, and... I can't put into words how much it helped me. Thank you, Borislav. This is pure masterpiece.
No idea if you knew at the time, and you probably know by now anyway buuut.. Funnily enough, that is exactly what this song is about: The bard Alfira's mourning and rememberance of her teacher , who was killed in a Gnoll attack while teaching Alfira to play, mere hours or days before she makes this song & tribiute with the help of the player.
Yeah, i was super excited when she wanted to join me, i wanted to use the feat to be able to perform instruments, but then *that* happened. Despite knowing what kind of character i played i was just shocked. I did *not* expect that. Had to take a few minutes to process it. Kudos to larian for being able and willing to genuinely shock people and how they did not sugarcoat it in any way or form.
Actually if you play redemption path. This song hits harder, especially if you helped her. It’s the important turning point that can either strengthen or change Dark Urge’s heart toward good. So Alfira is a character I always interacted with in every Dark Urge playthrough because of this.

Found Alfira completely by chance while exploring the area, thought she'd just be some random NPC you could talk to for a bit. Instead I helped her finish a tribute song for a dear friend who had recently passed away and even better I got to hear it when she finished. I'm amazed not just at how beautiful this song is, as well as the amazing voice this singer has, but with how much work was obviously put into something that many players won't even see their first playthrough. Larian Studios is everything I remember Bioware being years ago, back when they were still my favorite developer. It warms my heart to know that we finally have someone else to carry that legacy forward. I'll definitely be playing Divinity Original Sin 2 once I'm done with this.
I became a big fan of you after Divinity Original Sin: II, and OSTs like these in Baldur's Gate III are absolutely incredible. You have exceeded the sky-high bar that you set yourself in DoS: II, and I feel like you are the best video-game composer who is active right now. You add life to games made by Larian studios, and I cannot imagine high-fantasy without your scores.
When I first came Across Alfira and subsequently, this song, I was completely taken by surprise. This song is just so good! I look forward to more with the full release, and hopefully we get Alfira as a bard companion.
Came across this last night in-game finally... first time hearing it and I teared up... BG3 is amazing.... I have no words, I'm so glad this game is doing so well, so much of it is what I've missed so much in an RPG
"You stand before a body, which is in a state of gore nearly beyond recognition" "The body of that scared girl, who asked for nothing more but a night of shelter" "Her blood covers you, and it's warmth feels like the embrace of an old friend"
I did a normal walkthrough and missed this because Alfira never joined my camp (LONG REST OFTEN), and my second tactician playthrough is a durge. I might make a third playthrough just to hear Alfira's song in-game. The durge scene left me speechless. Such a great game.
@@kyna6683 alfira never joins your camp in a normal playthrough, but you can hear her song in any playthrough if you talk to her in the grove (idrk how to describe the exact location but it's probably google-able)
My first playthrough I smashed her lute because I thought it would be funny. It led to a recurring joke where I would roleplay my paladin as deeply resentful of all music, but I never got to hear the song. My second playthrough was as a Dark Urge bard. Up until the encounter with Alfira I didn't really know what direction to take him. I would usually heed the urge, mostly out of curiosity, because it was the only piece of identity he could cling to. Jamming together with Alfira was the first time I really had him show any kind of humanity, like the power of music dredged up some distant love buried underneath the bloodlust. When she came to my camp I was excited for more interactions with her in the future. The next morning broke my heart, man. My poor bard's one glimmer of hope, disemboweled by his own hand. It seemed like he would never be free of the urge, and I decided he would throw himself at the mercy of the only other one who, until then, had promised him a place in the world. So he went straight to the goblin camp, proclaimed himself a True Soul, and took on the brand of the Absolute. And that's how my evil playthrough started.

These song you make are beyond beautiful. They really are a story and journey being sung. I could get lost listening to the music. Keep up the brilliant work. I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
That's what's so astounding about this game. Even side quests or boss fights that very few will see get amazing soundtracks. A companion a vast majority doesn't even know exists as an option has a fully voiced campaign for those who stumble across them. Stuff like that.
Going home after my work shift, can't believe how much this music sets me in the game. As a singer I feel so refreshed and inspired by the performances of these ladies. Thank you for giving everything to bring the story more alive!

But I always come back to this piece and I Want to Live, and I fall in love with music again and am reminded of why I started composing to begin with. Thank you for every note and word you share with us 💛
Mr. Slavov, I have been following your work since Divinity Original Sin 2, and still this is one of my favorite soundtracks. Crazy to think some people in the game just won't come across this quest/song. What a beautiful masterpiece. Thank you, Borislav!
I somehow missed it 😢
She is actually really easy to miss because she is in a place away from the main paths/areas and leaves early on in the game's storyline. So if you just focus on the main quest rather than on exploring every nook and cranny you will most likely miss her.
@@jodofe4879 Yeah. Weird thing is, when I met her, she acted as if we had met before.
@@jodofe4879 I teared up a bit when I realized that wrote a full length song for a random npc encounter that is off the beaten path. (Please no spoilers, I haven't gotten very far) Larian did such a great job on this game.
I killed her
I love BG3’s portrayal of Tieflings.
@@ghosteyes2708 so based
@@ghosteyes2708Try listening to a player who's only answer on everything "I just stare with hate" and then you will feel same way
And then a Tiefling child snaps my purse.
I nearly did the same thing! I’m so happy I took the opportunity to explore a little bit to the side, this was a wonderful reward.
I wish two things : that she was a party member as our official bard... And that we could Learn instruments without being a bard. Which I'm not sure yet we still can.

It feels like that motivating intro song to an adventure, just here it's a few hours into the 80+hr long adventure 😁
Sounds like that moment from The Witcher 3, going through the hardships and then reaching the moment with The Wolven Storm
I mean, "one of the best gaming moments ever" is a really strong phrase. It was a nice song but I had no real attachment to it considering I literally just met the character 10 seconds ago.
@@casual2694 exaclty, I do really like the song and I find myself coming back to listen to it. But if this played at like on the better part of being done with the game and the character actually had some meaning besides being that one thiefling bard I met at the grove and seems shes safe and sound

Я не так хорошо знаю, английский, но понимаю о чем песня и понимаю вашу боль, эта песня и вправду помогает прожить расставания с близким человеком.
Same as game character, this song is for you :)
RIP all the Dark Urge players.
Yeah... I didn't get to know her.
Not me, she lives cause I’m a delusional maniac who knocked her out to steal her lute…

Not so much for the chipmunks tho...
I lost one of my closest friends a few years ago. We spent years playing DND together. Started my first playthrough a couple weeks ago, and I had just enough time to think that he would've loved it before this song hit me like a ton of bricks.
Heart off to you friend. Lost but not forgotten.
My mother passed away in 2011 from colon cancer at the age of 39. Over a decade has went by since her death, and many, many video games I've placed since. None, game or music, have ever with such precision encompassed how I felt about my mother. Growing up, she was supportive of my decisions, including my love of gaming. Thank you for this masterpiece and thank you for finally putting to words my feelings about her, even when I was unable to do so myself.

Divinity Original Sin 2 had better soundtrack, but Baldur's Gate 3 has better songs
I stopped paying attention to anything else when the scene for this started. This was absolutely breathtaking. A true work of art.
"You stand before a body, which is in a state of gore nearly beyond recognition"
"The body of that scared girl, who asked for nothing more but a night of shelter"
"Her blood covers you, and it's warmth feels like the embrace of an old friend"
I did a normal walkthrough and missed this because Alfira never joined my camp (LONG REST OFTEN), and my second tactician playthrough is a durge. I might make a third playthrough just to hear Alfira's song in-game. The durge scene left me speechless. Such a great game.
@@kyna6683 you can only get this if you play as dark urge.
@@00784865 I meant the singing scene, but thanks anyway
@@kyna6683 alfira never joins your camp in a normal playthrough, but you can hear her song in any playthrough if you talk to her in the grove (idrk how to describe the exact location but it's probably google-able)
That's actually Quill's description, not Alfira's. With Alfira it says something different.
