I like how he adviced not showing the video, because he didnt want fitnah in the ummah. I admire when people of knowledge, and those who work in the dawa field dont engange in tit for tat - and a fathiihaaa campaign. I understand we need to follow authentic knowledge, but I just admire the fact that he wanted to talk to him personally, and that they are working together in clearing things up. We need more unity

Unfortunately, in a time where there is sooo much fitnah and so many people are trying to reform islam as sheykh Lotfi AbdurRahman said in his halaqa if two groups of muslims are fighting when the truth is clear we should side with the truth. In this case it is very clear that what Dr.Omar Soleiman was wrong and he should have made a video about it a loooong time ago, not after all the backlash :/

I like Ali Dawah but publicly insulting and seriously criticising a scholar is shameful and we should avoid such behaviour. We don't worship people no matter how cute, funny, handsome, charismatic they are.....we ONLY follow EVIDENCES!
If someone helped you back to Islam than you must ask yourself did you really get the help you need if you attach yourself to a person instead of the Prophet.
Our ONLY leader is Prophet....every scholar should be attaching us to him instead of themselves.

Wow this just shows how it’s so important to navigate sensitive issues behind scenes. This could cause a divide or doubt on either or both sheikhs, even if it’s brief. If Shiekh Uthman had not said any comment on camera then he could’ve quietly spoken to Yaqeen. But things happen. We must learn. Alhumdulillah they have such flawless respect and reputation in my opinion. It’s one of those few things left in this world that remains sacred. Our elders held on to respect so much that sometimes people would suffer in silence. But now a persons reputation seems to have less value. I think this Ansari didn’t need to broadcast. Dangers of internet I guess.

You can love whoever you want to. But as a Muslim who accepted islam over 15 years ago, our main duty is to love Allah and prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Following and loving anyone else has to be in the guidelines of the way and practice of prophet Muhammad ﷺ, The companions and the Rightly guided scholars. To make this statement simple.....
Ask , would the prophet ﷺ sit with these groups. Whether its black lives matter, human rights for xy&z... would he?
Would he stand with these groups taking pictures and making prayer or would he be calling all of them to islam in the most proper way?

To the host, my beloved brother, just because you were guided through someone does not mean they're on the right track, I started off with dr. omar suleiman, NAK, and others. A person may come to islam because he saw a car accident and it triggered something in him. Does that mean we should increase the number of traffic accidents? Islam isn't about emotions, it is about following the absolute truth that is never to be compromised. Our prophet - may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - commanded that we follow the path of the righteous predecessors. And dr. Omar suleiman is clearly miles off. When I first knew that as a newly practising muslim, I submitted to the truth, not cling to him because I liked him. I recommend that y'all check the completely objective and fair refutations of abu mussab (onewaytoparadise) and watch it objectively while setting emotions aside..
All this is coming from a former diehard follower of omar suleiman who used to follow him obsessively..

@KnightofBrilliance Uthman's starting point with regards to Omar Suleiman is one of great skeptism, to the extent that he cautioned following him. He subsequently somewhat changed his position. This attitude, of being dismissive and highly critical from the onset, can only flow when you believe that your understanding is infallible, hence a monopoly on Deen. I find this quite common among those claiming scholarship, to almost immediately question Aqaid of others. This is totally against the spirit of Islamic scholarship which requires us to have robust discussion about our differences but to steer clear of arrogating to ourselves the decree of questioning the Aqaid of others.

@KnightofBrilliance True brother but consider the gravity Islam places on establishing facts BEFORE we criticize others. There is nothing on record, no clear evidence, that Omar supports homosexuality. What Uthman is guilty of is simple slander and reconsidering his opinion under the guise of scholarship is deceit. He should be called out for his slanderous words. What upsets me is the Muslim public allowing these scholars to get away with slander, calling others Kaafir and questioning their Aqaid. It is this hero worship that sentences the Ummah to mediocrity and dissension.

As a public Muslim figure it is important to conduct oneself as such. Even if it was circumstantial that he was seen in an event such as that parade, he should have known that others would call him out for it, because all those who follow him see this and would think that it is ok to associate themselves with the lgbtq community.

It is always a bit strange to me that people get attracted to "celebrity personalities" and ignore the real teachers.
Why not take knowledge from the real scholars from whom the "celebrity speakers" learned from?
Know the statements of the giants of Islam like Ibn Sireen,
Ibn Sirin said, “This knowledge is a religion, so consider from whom you receive your religion.” Muslim transmitted it.
