It is not just Pakistani military, Pakistani people’s especially Punjabi attitudes towards Bengali people were racist and were constantly ridiculed for short height, black color, culture and language. The Bengali men were considered “do taka ka aadmi” meaning the “bengali men were worth only 2 pennies” (taka is bangladeshi currency). The Pakistani people still hold racist attitudes and prize white.

Sheikh have missled a littlebit: The battle of Plasi happened in 1757 not 1857. So British rule continued in bangal for almost 190 year, not 90 year. But first 100 year (1757 to 1857) the rule was just under the British East India company rule. Later after the 1857 a massive movement was started over the whole India, including Bangladesh which is called 'Sipahi Bidroho' also known as Indian Rebellion. After that the company lost its influence and the British empire (ie Queen Victoria) took control. But the first 100 years was the saddest part of the Bangal History. The company would force the farmer to produce 'Nill' a type of colour instead of foods. Which lead to a massive femine in 1770 that killed one third of the population of the Country. Counry that was once flourished suddenly became one of the poorest in the world.

Thank you, Dr. Yasir Qadhi. I appreciate your well-researched and coherent explanation about the history of Bangladesh. As a Bangladeshi, even I picked up a few things that I didn't know before like the naming of Chittagong by arabs! Thanks for introducing the topic to everyone. May Allah grant us success. Ameen.🤲

During the Bengal famine of 1943, Qudrat Ullah Shahab ( ICS officer ) volunteered to help the local community while he was serving as magistrate at Nandigram, but was criticized by the authorities because he shared the strategic food reserves with the starving locals. He did rebel from British policies of hoarding produce for their troops, he did assisted locals to break the locks of storage facilities to get produce for famine riddled Bengal . Lot of detail available about this incident in his biography Shahabnama. Just adding a good story in this anecdote. Love to know the history and really amazing anecdote from Dr. Yasir Qadhi.

Well said Sheikh! Couple of facts: ‘Mirjafar’ is the most hated name in Bangladesh, no child gets this name since the war of 1756, in fact it’s the other word of ‘Betrayal’ in Bangladesh. #2: no foreign power ever succeeded to control Bangladesh fully. In fact, as Sheikh said, people of Bangladesh was in the forefront of resistance against the British. What Mirjafar began, it’s still going on.

The synopses of Bengol's history from our beloved Sheikh is really impressive. Being a Bangladeshi proud to hear this, described in a Masjid in USA at a time when another upheaval dismantled the India's hegemony and a fascist overthrown. This is the fourth time Bangladeshis given blood to protect them in 52 years. Jazakallah Sheikh.

Judging from historical records the best thing that's happened to former East Pakistan is an independent Bangladesh. A request to the peoples of Bangladesh, please bring back the glorious period of The Sufi Saint Shah Jalal (R.A.) Second request is to heed the advise of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi for Bangladesh to prosper both ecomically, politically, and peacefully once again to become a great Muslim Nation. I wish well to the people of Bangladesh and a long life to Sheikh Yasir Qadhi.
