    As someone who had the Circuit Tracks as a "gateway drug" from guitar music into electronic stuff, this is very interesting. Problem is, getting sounds off most grooveboxes boxes isn't fun. This a) makes getting songs into the DAW easy, b) can do more in terms of polyphony and samples and c) it's a an Ableton controller bundled in. (No wonder Novation quietly took 1/3 off the Tracks price today.) As you say it's all about the fun factor. It's almost like they took a look at the OP-1 and said, "how can we make this affordable and actually useful?" Even the sample chopping in drum pads (which is kinda basic) is inspiring in an old school MPC fashion. You could still get a Push as well and be very content with the combo.

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah that has always been a problem , how is the best way to get track you make on these standalone boxes into a DAW. That why I'm in to this! it has built in WIFI and you can send the project to Live or the Push 3 to be further explored. Do you think you'll be getting one?

    • @Steve-s3r
      @Steve-s3r หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pushpatterns On the fence between this and a Push (controller). My workflow currently is very much do something away from the desk on a groovebox since (classic story) I look at a computer all day - then drop the idea into Live. This is great but I lose out on the whole Session View thing, since it makes more sense to drop stems into Arrangement View. Push would mean I could have a groove box vibe in Session View, but go straight into arranger mode. Move makes starting simple (which I honestly value really highly) and it also does some Ableton control. The question is how much does doing the other stuff (loading VSTs/managing FX chains) via the mouse and keys bother me? So yeah... torn at the mo!

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand. I would just say if your want a more portable device, go for Move. The push is great but it big and heavy, and if you get the controller version you'll still be on the computer. But the Push has lot more features, you wouldn't 'out grow' it, if you know what i mean?

    • @Steve-s3r
      @Steve-s3r หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pushpatterns Yeah it's a tricky one. Do I need the portability? I have a portable groovebox already (Polyend Tracker.) That said, I have the Tracker because it's unique and different to Live. So the choice comes down to whether to have that "grow into" experience with Live, and embrace the Push as a controller for it. Or whether to have a second option for an on the go workflow when I don't feel like using the Tracker. I make different stuff in Ableton as it is, so there is a good argument that the better use of cash would be Push, because I can use it to work on Tracker projects and Ableton only ones...

    Finally someone on TH-cam who gets it. So much negativity on the ableton youtube and Facebook comments which is a shame. I’ve ordered mine. Yes I’ve got suite and push 3 but this is my couch machine and holiday/travel buddy. I looked at elektron and Roland Airas which I feel this covers. My only gripe is 4 tracks. Should have been 8 especially as they launched on the 8th.
    Having to learn new machines and then try to get those ideas on your daw is still a pain. This solves all that and gives me a mini push when I’m out and about with my laptop. Looking forward to how this progresses as user preset imports are in the timeline for drift and wavetable.
    Have to also agree with you on ableton presets - they suck. Never use them in live.

      @@pushpatterns yeah I mean I’m old man. If you compare this to an MPC1000 it’s only limited because of the track count. Otherwise it seems like quite a capable little machine. And there’s nothing to stop you resampling into a drum sampler pad on the fly if you really need more shorter sounds happening at once. Not that I’ve read in the manual anyway. Two things that are holding me back for this device:
    1. Only 4 tracks (although there are workarounds for it)
    2. No Warping/ time stretching. Now this is actually a big one for me if that means that you can't just throw in loops and expect them to auto beat sync. As I've always seen this as an essential and insanely fun Ableton workflow for its clip launching in Session View.

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess thats the point though. It limited so you don't start messing around with all those things. You can always transfer the idea to live or the push 3 and do all them things. But can understanding some people will want them in the box.

    • @Drrolfski
      @Drrolfski หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@pushpatterns Time stretching should be absolutely in there though. Jamming by instant clip launching of multiple loops that you just could throw in regardless of tempo has always been THE immediate and fun feature of Ableton Live that made it stand out, which is what the Move is all about.

    Thing is ultimately the answer would be somewhere between Push and Move. IE a more feature rich Move with slightly more of the things regular Ableton users are likely to want. They can't do that because that would cannibalise their flagship hardware product. I absolutely don't blame for this. I do think, after the initial excitement, many (especially experienced Ableton users, will find it too limiting and look elsewhere for their more portable devices.

    • @Easy_Company

      Classic product design to optimise profit. Release the premium product (push), then release a bare ones accessible version (the move) then release the in-between for maximum profit from both those who became customers through the push by providing something more portable, but also a more feature rich "move" from your new customer base that came from the move

    I will be very happy to own the Move and the Push 3 Standalone. I haven’t used the Push as much as I was hoping because it’s too heavy to travel, so it’s always at my desk, and I have a million other options at my desk, so I usually use a high quality midi 88 weighted key piano, or drum on my SPD-SX Pro, or use real guitars, bass, cello, etc. If the Push was lighter I would be so much happier. So I’ve been using Note most of the time when I’m not at the desk, so this new Move is perfect.

So maybe I'll jam out on the Move, and when I like something enough, I'll figure out how to transfer it to the Push or Live. I'm very happy with the Move. All the naysayers have no idea how capable this little device is. They're focusing on the shortcomings, not realizing how powerful it is, just like the Note app. But the Move is a much better interface for Note, I really like it.

    • @rez9159
      @rez9159 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure you can. You can export the 4 groups individually as audio directly from the device or as a set to Live Intro, even if it's just about to get the midi melody, to use it with your Logic synths or VST.
      But since it is based on internal Ableton Live instruments like Wavetable you can't import sets to Logic. So it's more like a traditional Instrument then where you have to commit on the export/recording without being able to change individual synth parameters later.
      So it's a limitation but not necessarily a dealbreaker.
