This is dope man, I'm still waiting for mine in the mail and people like you are already on it, customizing it. Despite some initial doubts I had when it was announced, it became apparent pretty quick to me that we would be able to spend some time setting this thing up to be ready to work to our preferences.
i got mine today and its insane, I've already gotten used to it and can write and record sketches quicker than in ableton. its faster for basic things and its like a super controller for doing automation, but copying and pasting clips and rearranging stuff is slower than with mouse. still doable tho i just learned those hotkeys an hour ago
thanks for checking it:) i think that it would be wise if Ableton would add possibility on Move to change macros functions on fly for all parameters of the device, so it would be possible to mess with whole preset and make own in box.
If you set Drum Sampler as your default device for Drum Racks, dragging a sample directly on a drum rack pad should load it into Drum Sampler rather than Simpler 😉
No, unfortunately not yet. Although Move and Note supports Wavetable patches, certain parameters from Live don't work on them due to CPU constraints, so exporting is disabled.
Have you tried importing wavetable presets to Move? It would be great if they allowed that and other instruments like meld in the future. Also, do the macros map to the knobs?
Yes, that was the first thing that I tried and it didn’t work unfortunately. It will give an unsupported device error when you try to export to Move. Maybe it’s possible to reverse engineer the wavetable patches from a Move project or straight from the microSD. Yes, the macros are mapped to the knobs and what’s even cooler is that the Move knobs are touch sensitive, if you touch one of the knobs the name and current value will show up on the screen.
So, I can make custom effect racks as long as I use Move supported devices? So that's Wavetable, Drift, Drum Sampler, Sampler, Reverb, Delay, Saturator, Chorus-Ensemble, Phaser-Flanger, Redux, Channel EQ and Multiband Dynamics. Is that correct? Am I missing anything? I assume limiters aremt supported
Kind of. You can only create Instrument Racks with Drift or Drum Rack and only using the effects that are listed on the Move help page. I haven't found a way to export individual effect presets and Audio Effect Racks are not supported at all. There is limiter on the master track, but that seems to be it.
This is great, I don't see why you can't just rename the macros in the templates that Ableton offers? I don't think they are premapped, they just tell you that they can be?
@@medenine4828 You could, but then you have to right click and rename each macro every time. If you create a new template that saves you a lot of clicking and typing as Live will automatically name them for you every time. Not a big thing, but I’m a sucker for efficiency.
Exporting works as I already made several patches that work like this. I'll still need to load them onto the Move to test it out properly, but hopefully it will work just fine.
@@americoperez810 Agreed, unfortunately there is always a pad selected when you go into a Drum Rack track and the macro knobs map to that pad's Drum Sampler parameters. Let's hope that they open up some MIDI implementation and this becomes possible.
@@cursortoxyz I mean, it's already possible with the instrument racks, to a degree. So. I'm sure it would be a similar thing for the drum rack. Fingers crossed 🤞 that they add something.
Wow, I wouldn't have thought that it would already be possible to mess around with own presets.
That's just beatiful. Thanks for the video! :)
Thanks so much! Knowing that this is possible changed my opinion about this machine.
Brilliant, thank you!! Shared with my team!!
This is actually extremely useful, keep it up!

Great stuff!
Nice tutorial!

Wow, many thanks for the advice, I did not know that it’s possible. That’s an absolute game changer! 🙏
Thanks! 😁🙏👊
Thank you sir!
Thank you, very helpful! Does the Drift method also work for Wavetable?
No, unfortunately not yet. Although Move and Note supports Wavetable patches, certain parameters from Live don't work on them due to CPU constraints, so exporting is disabled.
Ah thank you. Such a bummer as wavetable is my main stock synth. Hopefully they expand the functionality for it.
awesome!

@@cursortoxyz you can just delete all the names pretty quick, then the same will happen that you’re looking for.
Have you tried mapping two controls to one rack macro? Does it work / transfer properly to move?
Exporting works as I already made several patches that work like this. I'll still need to load them onto the Move to test it out properly, but hopefully it will work just fine.
Okay, can you not upload your own custom wavetable presets? The move does run wavetable, and i want my own custom wavetable presets so bad
Unfortunately not, Wavetable is not optimized for low CPU usage, so only the factory patches work currently.
Do macros work for the drum rack?
If I remember correctly there are no track level macros for the entire Drum Rack, but the Drum Sampler parameters are auto mapped if you select a pad.
@@cursortoxyz bummer. I was hoping I could create a macro that filtered or transposed all the samples at the same time.

How do I get in touch??
Wrote you an email. 🙏
Love the video but found it very hard to hear you. Get a dedicated microphone.
"Get a dedicated microphone, please." This is the internet after all, manners matter :)
Funny thing that this IS a dedicated microphone that I have. Next time I’ll place it differently or switch to a dynamic mic.
I can say, that you have a dog 😊
