New sub. From Germany got my move a couple of days ago. I am a semi-dawless performer and I don’t use Ableton Live, in the old days I did. I like my move for what,it is but there are some things that will be very useful to have: step chance probability, beter midi facilities, and time signatures. Like your style of presentation. Keep up the good work.
@@bertokleine280 Danke! Kind words, greatly appreciated 👊🏻😎Me too for time signatures… I do some wonky 6/8 grooves that I’d love to do on move.. it can be done by shuffling the groove but drums never quite sit right for me… I’m sure it will come soon!
@@SimonLyonsMusicWorkshop I'd like to use Move as the center of a 'mini dawless configuration' with just a midi keyboard for input and an external Synth (MiniFreak) as additional instrument in audio-in. Will it be possible to have the Move play and audition the Freak at the same time? Don't need to record the Freak, just jam ith it on top of the tracks on the Move.
@@StefanSchoch Hi have you checked my other video in the playlist? its just a quick look at connecting a MIDI keyboard and the other sending MIDI out to a Moog. You can only (currently) have MIDI one way at once so either sending or receiving. So if you use the MIDI keyboard to record notes IN you wont be able to send those notes OUT until you change the MIDI direction in settings (you'll see the menu in the other vides here: th-cam.com/play/PLvjJmiBaQN8dnohHZv6SwqgUjzaxa07ud.html&si=17YR3zTOJNP2jDLH hope that helps...
@@SimonLyonsMusicWorkshop Yes, I saw the video and I'm aware that the Move can't receive and send Midi at the same time. But this is not what I want: the Move doesn't need to send Midi, just receive i.e. on channel 1 while the Minifreak listens on channel 2. Questio is wether the audio can be routet from audio-in of the Move to its audio-out.
aha thanks for your kind words! Currently best ways to find stuff I've been up to are the remixes on my spotify/apple music etc under Simon Lyon. I make music with Martyn Walsh (Bass player from Manchester band Inspiral Carpets) as Rhythmikon, were putting an album out early 2025. I also did a remix that Sigala approved of too! Thats on my Soundcloud here: soundcloud.com/simonlyonmusic hope thats ok for now! All the best!
Thank you. I initially dismissed this because I am a Maschine user. However, the portability of this as a a sketchpad is very appealing and the prospect of dropping quickly prepared ideas into Ableton is obviously very attractive. I run Ableton 11 on an older Macbook roll and had no intention of upgrading to 12. This comes with 12 so I am assuming upgrading Ableton is a requirement to getting the most out of Move. Do you know what these might be? In a perfect world it would be totally backwards compatible.
Hi there! So a couple of things! You can install Live 12 intro and still run your Live 11. But as you mention you cant go back to 11 from 12! The advantages of using move with Live 12 intro are pretty much that you can use Move as a control surface/transport and even sequence notes for MIDI clips. It’s also great fun using synths and tweaking even just basic parameters! Obviously Live 12.1 onwards features Move as a control surface under MIDI preferences. It won’t work with earlier versions. Have a go and let me know! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Can u launch your own wave or mp3 clips. Like longer audio clips on the akai force or is this just one shots. Which the polly lend play does already does with 8 tracks i might add.
Yes you can import samples via the Move Manager (Check the video above) or record directly into the unit . You can either import into a drum pad or use the sampler instrument, then sequence them or play in real time , all up to you. I'll be covering different ways to get samples in and customise your Move sounds in future videos 😎 hope thats helps
Hi there yes! Move has Wi-Fi and also Ableton Link ...so you can beat sync any device or software that is Ableton Link compatible! I believe RekordBox is but you may have to use it on a laptop ...I'm not sure (I'll check with my pals at Pioneer) . But I'm planning on doing a video with Move, Push and synching up with a DJ and doing exactly what you're saying! So make sure you subscribe and look out for it in the next month or thereabouts . Here's something to check out for now though : support.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=ableton+link
Hey Thanks for that! So yes you can record through the built in mic whilst other tracks are playing, but in order to keep background noise down its best to wear headphones. Hope that makes sense? I'll dive into some recording tips on another video soon as it seems to be a popular topic ! 😎
ok so I can show you here is a link to a quick video I've made , drive.google.com/file/d/1neBxT0ea-dJ-JxKp9c76P-dYQCY2K8nU/view?usp=sharing....... if you cant access it email me simonlyonsmusicworkshop@gmail.com

best demo 👍
thanks appreciate that 😎
I'd like a video where you would build a set of external sampled synth phrases and loops mixed with the internal drums.
It's a fun little machine☕🐇🥐
Excellent summary
Thanks, really appreciate the time to comment 👊🏻🎵

there is any way to play it in sync with rekordbox ? it could be great for adding new things to dj sets
