Evil Gray Buu to me was the most creepiest Buu, When he became Super Buu he got back some childish like traits again. Evil Buu was sinister and quiet and would be really unpredictable.
That's why I wish Evil Buu was the Original. He just fits the more Destroyer Theme as well it would make more sense why he would need to absorb People.
@@martinderabbie3429 I'm fine with Kid Buu being the original. It follows the trend of the final baddie of each main Arc being "small but dangerous" with the the only except being Cell. That's probably Toriyama's sense of humor in some form after they kept adding bigger and bigger new forms in the Cell Saga and alittle bit in the Buu saga as well.
Grey buu isn't actually evil. That was a mistranslation. Grey buu was a manifestation of fat buus rage when hercule was shot. He expelled his negative emotions and Grey buu was created from them. They call him wrathful buu. They have updated the manga to reflect this.
@@everardo2345 well, he didn't say he wasn't evil per se, he said that it's more than that, he is evil, vengeful, mad... all of what Fat Buu considered negative emotions
I think comparing it to the Nameless Namekian is probably the best analogy I've heard. I don't think I completely agree with it, but it certainly makes the most sense out of everything that I've seen presented.
The analogy is not perfect, though, due to the Shins within Buu. I mean King Piccolo is definitely all around inferior to the Nameless Namekian as he's just a fraction of him, while it's not that clear cut about Kid Buu vs Evil Buu, since the latter has the Shins within him (or part of the Shins, since Fat Buu must have kept a part of them).
Evil Buu is a whole new entity IMO. Buu split himself into two, one being Evil Buu. But because he split from Fat Buu, Evil Buu retains some influence from his appearance. Kid Buu is Buu without any external influence. I think you could see it as when Fat Buu was removed from Super Buu, Evil Buu became Kid Buu. Like Kid Buu is Evil Buu’s true form.
@@KurokamiNajimi He doesn't have the influence of the Kais' goodness. But he does have the physical influence of Fat Buu, because he split from Fat Buu. What I'm saying is that both Kid Buu and Evil Buu are pure evil, but Kid Buu is more so reborn through the physical body of Evil Buu. Remember that Super Buu and Evil Buu are actually the same being, they have the same mind and personality. But once Fat Buu is removed from Super Buu, that act removed ALL influence of Fat Buu from Evil/Super Buu, which in turned caused the mind...the individuality of Kid Buu to resurface and thus transformed Evil Buu's body into that of Kid Buu.
@@jeskerjames3260 Why would removing Fat Buu remove anymore influence than when they first split is what I’m saying. This only only makes sense if there was a Fat Buu inside Evil to remove before he turned him into chocolate which we know isn’t the case otherwise there would be 2 Fat Buu. This concept you and LSM came up with makes sense but then it really doesn’t at the same time
@@KurokamiNajimi it must be that after he ate good buu and absorbed, I think the influence and powers of the Kais were now stores in good buu like a contained . This happens when evil buu turns into super buu. This is how I see it. It wasn’t explained properly in the anime and manga nevertheless.Buu was just made to be weird and bizarre
Evil Buu is the most underused & underrated version of Buu & my favorite iteration of him. It sucks that he was only around for a single chapter & just 2 episodes bc he was so awesome looking design wise. I wish he would’ve spawned for at least one more chapter after they ripped out Fat Buu and then when he’s not strong enough to beat Goku & Vegeta, he transforms or reverts into Kid Buu. Anyways this has been the best explanation of this I’ve heard so far and I think you nailed this explanation. Btw glad you’re back man!!!
I never understood why people thought Super Buu - Fat Buu = Kid Buu was a plothole and yet DIDN'T think Evil Buu + Fat Buu = Super Buu was, despite both making about the same amount of sense.
@Greek Young buck OK, except that Evil Buu came out of Fat Buu, so the two merging should have just restored their prior state, i.e. Fat Buu. Why didn't it? Well, Evil Buu became the dominant personality, right? But if something as simple as Buu's state of mind can completely change his form like that, why should removing Fat Buu just change it back to Evil Buu like it was a matter of simple mathematics? Besides, the Buu that was removed could have been the "complete" Fat Buu that included everything that made Evil Buu what he was. Who's to say what happens inside that blob of magical bubblegum? The way I've always seen it, Buu isn't the sort of thing where you can expect changes to his form to be completely predictable, especially if they're based on removing parts of himself. In other words, it's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit.
@@eightbittemplar7394 Remember that fat buu is the result of not just the previous Supreme Kai but one of the other 3 kais kid buu fought. Super Buu resembles something closer to how buu looked after absorbing one of those kais so it's not rlly a plot hole, it's a plot piece that takes a rewatch to realize why Super Buu was made instead of reverting to kid buu.
ive always viewed that old man buu as simply an embodiment of his anger split off after having "enough" and no longer wishing to be repressed. And Kid buu was an actual first stage form instead of a manifestation.
@@OverRule1 I don't think that's really possible anymore. I'm pretty sure those Kais have already been digested by Buu and have become apart of his being at this point. Disconnecting them is practically impossible now.
Fat Buu literally gets angry and slugs Gray Buu almost immediately after he shows up. Fat Buu is still plenty capable of getting pissed off later on too, so this ENTIRE thing is just Akira Toriyama doing another android saga because he or the editor wanted the villain to be different and he's never cared about plot holes or consistency at all, so he just did it.
Evil Buu’s clothing shows that there is still Kai influence in him. Maybe when Fat Buu and Evil Buu separated it separated the good and evil from everyone Buu had absorbed up to that point also. Then when Fat Buu was separated from inside Super Buu all that was left was just “Pure” Buu.
That was my theory since I was a kid ngl, I never saw it as a plot hole, Supreme Kai explained that Kid Buu was it's purest form and it's most dangerous due to that
If Evil Buu already inherently has Kai Influence and that's why he wasn't Kid Buu, then ripping out Good Buu would still revert him back to Gray Buu, because Goku and Vegeta never even SAW the Kais, let alone removed them. Which WOULD have been a good way to remove this very easy to fix plot hole, which is what it is, if they just said Super Buu had been splitting the Kais out of Good Buu to properly draw from their full potential instead of the dilution he got from fat Buu, then Goku and Vegeta freed ALL of them, THEN it'd make sense for Super Buu to go back to the beginning, which of course was never foreshadowed as existing because it didn't until Kid Buu showed up, like with the androids and Cell. Then you can just leave Fat Buu as being essentially a new split of Buu that remains from existing so long despite the Kais no longer being within him, so he doesn't revert to Kid Buu because he has his own identity and none of the evil that embodies Kid Buu.
@@haku8135 So my thought is this Kid Buu is pure 100% evil, and 100% Buu (Physically). Kid Buu absorbs a Kaioshin, becomes Buff Buu. This adds SOME good to Buu, but not enough to change his personality much. He also is still physically Buu enough that body changed but not his clothes. Buff Buu absorbs Dai Kaioshin, becomes Fat Buu. This adds enough goodness for him to become more docile and controllable. He is now physically enough % of 'Not Buu' that he has clothes from those he absorbed. Fat Buu has more good added to him by his interactions with Hercule and the dog I can't remember the name of. Fat Buu freaks out and expells all negative emotions within him, he is now Good Buu. Gray/Evil/Wrathful Buu is created. Gray Buu has all of Pure Buu's evil, but he's still not 100% physically Buu since he came from something not 100% Buu. Because he isn't enough Buu he has a gray appearance instead of the vibrant pink of every other Buu. Evil Buu absorbs Good Buu. I think everything I said so far is pretty obvious and not that controversial. Here's where I'm having to intuit more based on what happens next. I think he permanently took some Buu-ness from Good Buu while he had him absorbed. Thus when all outside influences are removed, including Good Buu, you are finally left with a being that is 100% Physically Buu, with 100% of Buu's negative emotions. This I think explains why Good Buu did not recover automatically from the injuries Kid Buu inflicted. Kid Buu was MORE BUU than Good Buu cause he took it when becoming Super Buu.
Evil Buu is not exactly the same entity as Kid Buu. Yes, they're both pure evil, but Evil Buu is the evil incantation of Fat Buu. That's why they have the same outfit. Super Buu was born by Evil Buu absorbing Good Buu, thus swapping the roles, and putting Buu's evil side in charge. When the Good Buu was later removed from Super Buu, we thus see the evil incantation of Super Buu (Kid Buu). Same outfit.
@@nicholaskling2425 That's one way to interpret this situation. Though the phrase, "slowly absorbing the evils of mankind", really implies Kid Buu becoming a truly evil entity.
I'd say Kid Buu, or "Pure Boo" if you prefer, is the complete, original Buu. Evil Buu on the other hand is just half of Buu. You could think of it as Fat Buu splitting apart into a Yin half and a Yang half, and then getting reabsorbed into a complete whole again with his balance reversed.
Right, and then Good Buu is a combination of the Kaioshin he absorbed, and has barely any of Buu's essence left (even Pure wasn't exactly the same as he was much later stated to have had god ki).
@@hitkid2456 Exactly. He's still a Buu, but since he's basically the tiniest bit of power (obviously can't use the Kais at this point) he's dwarfed by Kid Buu.
Evil Buu was a copy of Fat Buu as he was. But when Evil Buu absorbed Fat Buu, he took in the original pure essence of Kid Buu (similar to how Cell maintain his perfect form's "code" and regenerated back into it even after losing 18). However, even though he had taken in that part, the essence of the Kais within Fat Buu inside him blocked that off. But once it was removed, he reverted to that original form and power.
The way I see it (which agrees with a lot of what you're saying) both "innocent" and "evil" Buu are two halves of Innocent Buu. I think the emaciated form of Evil Buu points to Innocent Buu having all of the Kais within himself still, but now having expelled all the evil within himself having come to understand pain and loss and *choosing* to change. When Evil Buu eats Innocent, he fills out and becomes "whole", basically Innocent Buu but with evil in full control and far, FAR less restrained. On the other hand, Kid Buu is the "true" Buu, before any sort of influence of good in his being. When the pod containing Innocent Buu was ripped out, it quite literally separated all of the essence of the kais and Innocent Buu out of Super Buu-- and with evil in full control, Buu loses his current form and undergoes a transformation back to his purest state. In fact, it's kind of miraculous that Innocent Buu and Kid Buu can exist independently. You can chalk it up to "that's just because Buu is weird like that", but personally I like to think that it's because Innocent Buu grew into enough of his own person to have a "being" all of his own, without needing the evil within him to make him whole. But also, yeah, Buu is just weird like that! I think that's what makes him such an interesting antagonist for Z's final arc. Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, all of them have motives and reasoning to what they do that make them understandable. But Buu clearly operates differently from everything else in the story thus far, something beyond mortal rules and comprehension.
Because it is a lil bit deeper than some people think it is ~ The ending is the unity of all the universe, and the perfect ending for Dragon Ball. If Goku and the entire universe won, it's all thanks to them, to the dragon balls
@@ZERARCHIVE2023 Yeah. Still, I appreciate how DB isn't too difficult/doesn't have too many details to miss though. It's honestly like a pallet cleanse of a series and is argue it's the best at that.
Yes, the Evil Buu that comes from Fat Buu is really all of Fat Buu's evil intentions and need for revenge, rage, etc., vs. Kid Buu, the original, and pure evil, incarnate of Buu, prior to ever evolving into Fat Buu. Bottom line, there's a lot of Buu going around.
Evil Buu is a manifestation of Fat Buu, you can say basically he got so mad he almost turned into kid Buu, but the Dia's abilities basically expelled the anger and evil instead, this would expell parts of Buff Kai and Kid Buu and it basically became sentient and turned into Evil Buu, it's like how Fat Buu can exist separately because he's an incarnation of Kid Buu, and Dai
To me, Grey Buu is basically a metaphor for the conflict between good and evil that existed inside Buu. Kid Buu was the original creature, he then absorbed the South Kaioshin, and the Grand Kaioshin, the result being Fat Buu. Fat Buu was not as chaotic evil as Kid Buu because, as a side effect of having them inside his being, the South Kaioshin and the Grand Kaioshin (mostly the Grand Kaioshin) transformed him into a different creature. Now, Fat Buu was a whole new being that was born of Kid Buu + South Kaioshin + Grand Kaioshin (with the Grand Kaioshin having a little bit more of influence behind the wheel). This new being, however, still had evil in him (thanks to Kid Buu being in the passenger seat, so to speak). What happened, from a Watsonian perspective, is that Grey Buu is basically Kid Buu's voice telling the Grand Kaioshin: "I'm not this obese clown. I used to be much more". Grey Buu is basically Kid Buu taking hold of the wheel and putting the Grand Kaioshin in the passenger seat, which created Super Buu as a side effect. I see it this way: Kid Buu + Kaioshins = Fat Buu (with the Grand Kaioshin holding him back). Kid Buu + Kaioshins = Super Buu (with Kid Buu using both the South Kaioshin and the Grand Kaioshin as a power up). Basically, Super Buu is what, by all accounts, should've happened if the Grand Kaioshin didn't effect Buu in a weird way. Fat Buu is a fluke, Grey Buu is Kid Buu's metabolism trying to correct an irregularity in his system. Of course, this is just a Watsonian answer. A Doylist explanation is that Toriyama wanted to surprise his readers one last time.😆
@@ImAHamsterDude Yeah, I mean... I know the real reason is Toriyama trying to come up with something new, but it's fun to speculate from an in-universe point of view.
My theory is that when Super Buu was born, Fat Buu, and all of the kais in him were put into a pod. When Fat Buu was torn out of Super Buu, all the kais went with him, spawning Kid Buu again since Evil Buu was the product of the kais being absorbed too (look at his clothes.) Additionally, Skinny Buu (despite the name) wasn't "evil incarnate" the same way Kid Buu was. Skinny Buu was all of Buu's WRATH personified, IE A Buu of Pure Wrath generated by the near-loss of both of his friends. He killed Van Zant for what he did, then proceeded to beat the CRAP out of Fat Buu AFTER Fat Buu swung first. I agree that he is revenge personified and IS evil. But not Pure Evil. We see that Super Buu, then, is Fat Buu if his evil side was dominant. He didn't ACTUALLY get stronger but that with his evil side out, Fat Buu can access all of his power he absorbed from the Kais (including Dai Kaio which initially made him weaker). The main reason Buu, then, wasn't digested after Grey Buu turned him into chocolate could be because he holds all of the kai-energy. When Fat Buu was torn out of Grey Buu, it tore the Kai-power out of Grey buu too who was manifested from Fat Buu who ate all the kais. This forced Grey Buu to revert to Kid Buu, one without kai-energy to influence his form and his personality was completely overtaken by the wild madness of a pure majin.
@@tastedivinefury2198 retcon, 1 and 2, that happened after the split. Fat Buu took all of the Kai influence and kid Buu took all of the energy. It’s a stupid retcon, but there u go
@@Bardock059 no? XD grey Buu is a personification of Fat Buu’s anger which then re-fused with Fat Buu upon absorption and took him over. Upon separation again via Vegeta tearing out his pod, Grey Buu, who was made up of Kai influence, is reduced back down into Kid Buu because there’s no more Dai Kaio or South Kai (except for their power thanks to super WHICH also calls into question of Kid Buu is weaker than Super Buu) is in him. You can see that in the lack of Vest, cape, gloves and different boots
This is by far the best breakdown of grey/kid/fat Buu I have seen. Great Video LSM! I pretty much agree with your points and think it isn't a plot hole because the original Buu would of been pink I feel and that the grey is to symbolize that it's a completely different entity. Maybe it's design could of been intended to be the original Buu but pink instead but it probably looked too much like super Buu but weaker so it wouldn't make sense.
I chalk it up to Kid Buu existing due to the transformation method. Evil Buu didn’t have any pink matter whatsoever and was the complete polar opposite of good Buu, so because of how much purity there was in Buu after being absorbed by the evil one as the base, it created a trickle down effect to where Kid Buu retained the color but was still pure evil incarnate. I’d have the same argument if Evil Buu were to get absorbed, we’d have a different final transformation in my opinion
I remember questioning this as a kid. I had head-cannoned that he had siphoned off some of fat Buu's life energy or whatever while he was absorbed; in order to achieve that form.
If I can summarize this outcome, Fat Buu is more or less Buu with gods absorbed in his body, one being powerful and the other being the most gentle soul ever, but the traumatic event with the two looters expelled Buu's "wrath" which only grew stronger after absorbing Fat Buu. He is more or less magical and it's possible that absorbing the pure hearted god greatly hindered Buu's overall power, we saw how similar Fat Buu looked like Super Buu when he was training for the Tournament of Power in Super so there's a connection there.
Kid Buu was the original Buu, he reverted back to his former self. Evil Buu was like a Piccolo/Kami situation, but there was still the influence of the kais, it wasn't until he was rid of their influence that he could revert back to the real original version. Makes perfect sense.
As awesome as an explanation this is and how it fits into the story, I think the reasoning simply comes down to artistic style in the end for the manga as a literal thing. I believe Toriyama just decided he was satisfied with having fun with his more silly designs and ideas and decided to go back into a more serious style, hence why so much of Majin Buu's identity seems to just vanish, despite both Evil Buu and Majin Buu combining. Toriyama gets rid of features both Buus share like the vest, the yellow gloves, anything that was exaggerating and/or hinting to a sillier style. This is why I believe we suddenly have a very "Z"ish appearance out of nowhere, sleek, clean, buff, scary looking and sharp design. It's just Toriyama changing styles or going through influential phases and working them into the story. He had his fun with doing unexpected tropes like playing with magic and wizards or using a rather unconventional body for fighting super battles. When this change happens, it gets grim, all sense of fun seems to disappear, but he manages to keep the more unique abilities of Buu intact like using different parts of his body and what not.
So Fat Buu (Who had two kais absorbed) basically created Evil Buu and Evil Buu (Who also had the two kais absorbed?) ate Fat Buu and became Super Buu? Or is Evil Buu just an altered version of Fat Buu but doesn’t really have the two kais absorbed and so developed a dependency on Fat Buu after eating him to stick around?
I don't see how this was ever a discussion, it was always super clear to me. Fat Buu had an internal struggle, and seperated his evil side from his good side, creating 2 versions of "Fat Buu", the essense that makes both of them is the same, just 1 is good the other is evil. When Fat Buu dispelled his energy that is all he did, dispell his "bad energy" he did not take himself out of the equation. Kid Buu absorbing kais is what made him weaker, as soon as the "fat kai buu" was deleted from super buu's system he reverted back to his prime. I personally never saw a plothole here either.
Great video as always. There are some things about Dragon Ball that I've wondered about and was hoping you could make some videos on one or all of these questions. -How did some of the early Dragon Ball characters, like Bulma, Pilaf, and the Red Ribbon Army, learn about the Dragon Balls? -Why didn't Ginyu try to or at least consider switching bodies with Frieza? -Why didn't Babidi (and perhaps Bibidi) use his mind control spell on Buu like he did with Dabura, Vegeta, etc.?
Here's my theory... Evil Buu was technically born from Fat Buu. He was split from Fat Buu and was just a being that he bore out of the "evil" or anger in his heart. May not have even been a "true" Buu but just a creation. Kid Buu was the original form of Buu, just Buu with no-one else's influence.
Great video I believe the answer simply comes down the body of Super Buu vs Evil Buu's body. When Evil Buu eat Fat Buu he gained the DNA of OG/Kid Buu, explaining why his body goes from grey to pink. I always find it odd how the 2 Buus killed the shooters one used a standard Ki blast, while Super Buu killed him by a unique magic way with his new body. I believe Super Buu was testing his new magic body/abilites. with Super Buu containing OG/Kid Buu's DNA the only thing keeping his Super Buu form was the fat Buu, after losing that his body simply went to most basic form that was in the DNA.
I think you got exactly the right idea. Evil Buu was the evil half of the Buu with both the Kaioshins inside him, so not at all the same as Kid Buu. That still requires some suspension of disbelief in regards to how Kid Buu came around though, since you need to assume that all the Kaioshin power got somehow concentrated inside the absorbed Fat Buu when Super Buu came into being, rather than remaining distributed equally. Which makes no sense at all, but guess we have to roll with it. I used to also think about why Super Buu is so strong, and I used the fusion argument - just like when Kami fused with Piccolo, they became much stronger than just a + b. But then when we were told that Buff Buu was even stronger than Super Buu, that argument kind of lost water, since it meant that Kid Buu with the South Kaioshin absorbed was already stronger than even Super Buu was. And absorbing a single Kaioshin doesn't sound like it should make someone stronger than fusion would, so I instead chose to think that Super Buu just gains access to a portion of the South Kaioshin's power which Fat Buu didn't have access to. All in all, we can at least know that the South Kaioshin was mad powerful, definitely way above SSj3 Goku tier, probably relative to Ultimate Gohan.
That makes sense. The only thing though is that it assumes after the good buu was absorbed, then the kai influence from the evil buu was absorbed into that good buu in his body. That would also explain why super buu looks much closer to kid buu vs the Supreme Kais like fat buu was. If you accept that assumption, then it makes sense.
That's a GREAT question, and I'm going to answer it first and then watch your video afterward to see if we're on the same page at all. So the misconception is that Evil Buu is just Buu without the fat Buu, but that's not true in this case. I think that Evil Buu is an entirely new being the same way that Piccolo was an entirely new being. I assume that it functions quite similarly, and it could even be related somehow to godhood in this series. Kami needed to purge the evil in his heart in order to become god of the Earth (or guardian if you prefer that term). We know that the Kais are basically gods for the gods or above the gods. If this was a technique somehow related to these kinds of beings, then it's possible Buu inherited it from absorbing some Kai. Regardless of how he obtained this ability, I think it functions the same. Prior to both splits, you have characters who have good intentions but harbor some kind of evil or negative thoughts inside of them. Obviously Fat Buu did a lot more evil things that pre-split whatever Kami was, but I don't think it's related to the actions of the characters but rather their intention. Fat Buu was kinda just doing what he was told and what he thought it was fun. I don't think he was necessarily doing all of these things because he was pure evil. I mean, Mr. Satan asks him to stop killing people, and he just does. Even after Buu stops wanting to kill people, he still has this negative side. He can still get angry. That side of him (the anger, the part that maybe enjoys killing or getting revenge on people who he feels wronged him and the desire to fight) gets expelled and becomes Evil Buu. I think the important thing to remember is that this new Buu is still a creation of the Fat Buu specifically, and Fat Buu is, himself, not the original Buu as we know. The Evil Buu is going to be based on the thoughts, feelings, and emotions/personality of the Fat Buu, not the original Buu. When you remove all of the absorptions that Buu had ever done, you end up reverting him back to his original state entirely. He's not just the Evil side of the Fat Buu, he's just the original. That's why Kid Buu and Evil Buu are completely separate things.
I always thought Evil Buu was just Super Buus weakened state from having fully absorbed the Tall Kai and having been dormant for so long in the fat form from the Fat Kai. So once he absorbed the Fat Buu (Fat Kai Form) he regained that power and turned back into Super Buu. Yall gotta remember, the Fat Buu and Super Buu forms are based off of the two kais, the Fat Kai and the Tall Kai, that Kid Buu absorbed when he first attacked the Kai's planet.
btw super buu is actually not as strong as the version of buu after absorbing the strong kai since in the transformation from super to kid buu he becomes even bigger before returning to his small form
Yet the kais are forgotten about when they pull out fat buu, if they can pull out the kais from buus, like they pulled out gohan, piccolo, trunks, goten, and Fat buu, but I guess that fat buu is allowed to hold the kais existence in fat buu for some reason. On his new goodness.
It's always been funny to me that Supreme Kai just kinda shrugs off the fact that Fat Buu is now good and running around with the heroes while South Kai and Grand Kai are still imprisoned inside of him. You'd think it'd be a little more of a conflict of interest. Yeah, he probably doesn't wanna rock the boat and potentially spawn another Kid Buu, but you'd think he'd at least want him dead alongside Vegeta after the battle, if only to set his old friends to rest. Either that, or Toriyama forgot they were even inside of him. I mean, DB Super basically forgot that Grand Kais were a thing, so...
It's not really clear if South Kai is inside him. Kid's regression through the Buff Buu form suggests South Kai is dead after he goes past that, though WHY he is isn't clear. Super Manga eventually remembered Dai Kaioshin at least. It'd be more accurate to say Super forgot all BUT the Dai Kaioshin. The direction Kaioshin and lesser Kai don't seem to exist in other universes.
I like the idea of Good Buu being inside Super Buu, but technically shouldn't we see the two Kais instead? Why are there two Kid Buus if it could spawn again by ripping out the two Kais within Good Buu, or would Buu cease to exist if that were to happen now that Kid Buu has been eliminated?
It never made sense to me, until I watched this video. It makes perfect sense now and I can't see any argument against what Mike is saying. Top quality stuff!
I'm no Dragon Ball expert, but I always thought Grey Buu was the original Kid Buu, and splitting from Fat Buu took a lot of energy from him, making him appear old. After he was Buuhan, he had enough energy to go back to his younger form.
Kid Buu is the original Buu, after absorbing S supreme Kai, buff Buu took over. After the Grand Supreme Kai was absorbed, Fat Buu became the active persona of Buu at the time. So technically Fat Buu should have pods with the Kais inside of him. Fat Buu was a combination of Kid Buu with the 2 Kais. When Grey Buu split from Fat Buu, their power was split between them with the majority going to Grey Buu. The Kai pods probably remained inside of Fat Buu. When Grey Buu absorbed Fat Buu, the evil side took over the main persona of Buu. Leaving Fat Buu with the Kais inside of a different pod inside of Super Buu. When Fat Buu (with the kais) were ripped from Super Buu, there was no longer anything inside of Buu to influence his form. Thus Kid Buu was reformed. That's my explanation
This is my first of your content and i gotta say, i enjoyed how you presented yourself and your ideas. You're so calm that I felt relaxed like a warm blanket. I'm definitely going to look at more of your videos. Also based on what the manga said about condensed wrath and sh8n trying to remove fat buu too is rather interesting. Reason being if fat buu can just expelle certain emotions out of himself if put in a stressful situation then what's to say there couldn't be a buu for almost every emotion or some combo of two or three emotions? If there is no limit to this maybe because of magic or something to do with buu himself. We could potentially see another wrath buu or something else.
Regardless if he makes sense or not, Evil Buu will always represent to me, the most iconic villain transformation in all of Dragon Ball. Everything about his short-lived appearence feels so powerful and menacing: precisely what Majin Buu is supposed to be. Not only that, but he also has the best kills and the most badass theme in the entirety of the English dub! That's right! (SSJ3's theme is overrated anyway lol.) Anyway, this is completely unrelated to this specific video, but more to your channel as a whole: I'm glad that, despite using the manga as your main source of information, you never stop considering anime-only events and surprisingly even dub changes, going as far as mentioning such things from time to time in your discussions, which I find very considerate of you and appreciate it a lot. Also, this is more of a nitpick of mine, but I'm also glad you use the original black and white manga in your videos, as opposed to the crappy coloured version everyone else seems to use for some reason. As an artist myself, I ask, how can anyone actually like those washed out, generic colours with barely any variation to them? Ugh, that version of the manga personally reminds of DBS, and it makes me want to vomit each time I look at it. Jokes aside, I don't know if this is your thing or not, but I'd love to see a video on Shin Budokai 2/Another Road someday. Most specifically about the game's story: a hypothetical Buu Saga happening in Future Trunks' timeline. Which I know kind of happened in DBS already, but unlike Super's version of it, the game's variant didn't totally suck and was actually kind of interesting with a lot of its concepts, such as the upgraded time machine, which was able to bring everyone from the present back to Trunks' timeline in the future to fight Buu; or Future Gohan actually being brought back to life and even obtaining the ultimate form, like his present counterpart did; or maybe even the multiple possible endings, both good and bad that that game had to offer! Point being: Shin Budokai had a better plot than the Goku Black arc and I think that deserves to be known. So go ahead and give that game a try sometime!
I mean even in Piccolo's case, when he fuses together with Kami he retains the "evil" version's appearance and personality just like how when Evil Buu absorbs Majin Buu, he retains his own personality although he does alter his appearance a bit to contain that power.
@@FurbyParade226 I'm of the belief that Evil Buu is the way he is either because he's been repressed inside Buu for so long so he becomes the result rather than Kid Buu after being expelled from Fat Buu, or due to there being a faint Supreme Kai influence within him so rather than being Kid Buu, he's the grey Buu we got. Super Buu is essentially the complete/full grown Buu so he's likely the result regardless of if Evil Buu or Kid Buu absorbed Fat Buu. It's definitely confusing.
Not sure if you've already explored it, but talking about how the devilmite beam would work on various characters, especially Buu, could be a great video. Thanks for all the great content.
Man I haven't listened to you, qaaman, blackenfist or the others in a few years. Was rereading dbmultiverse, and for some reason had this same question like 2 days ago, today youtube decided to add laughingstock media to my feed, I clicked, and here we are...weird huh.... I had pretty much the same thought process in the end. Fat buu and "evil buu" was like kami's split with king piccolo. And I also get taking fat buu's goodness out of super buu would lead to the reversion back to kid buu. But, I don't know, somewhere in the middle is something missing for me.
You know this was a question Quaaman himself had asked that I don't think myself could ever answer but you and some others answered it here perfectly. I think 😅😅
A year later, however i just wanted to point this out. In the video, you talk about how cool evil buu design is,and i agree with you. I don't like db super, but I loved how "Slim Buu" who is good buu after he trained, looks extremely similiar to his evil counterpart. I think that new form was a bit inspired from evil buu.
Yeah, the way I’d always thought of it was that “Evil Buu” was all the negative emotions brought out by the hunters’ attack, which came from Fat Buu caring for Mr. Satan and Bee. That ability to care comes from the absorbed Kaiōshin, which means that Evil Buu is still possesses some vestiges of their personality, but just the negative parts. That’s why Evil Buu immediately went for revenge, which is a negative expression of a feeling of injustice, rather than just killing everything. Kid Buu, on the other hand, was the result of the entirety of the Kaiōshin’s influence being removed.
Kid Buu is pure chaos. I see it as the removal of the Supreme Kai's influence over Kid Buu. That's why Super Buu is so concerned. I think Super Buu cherishes his sentience and doesn't want to return to a state of pure, instinctual chaos. Edit: Supreme Kai knew exactly what he was doing by allowing himself to be absorbed by Buu.
Interesting points. I didn’t think about it that much, and figured that it was because Evil Buu didn’t have brain damage from after they messed with his brain from the inside. And afterwards, he went back to his first form because he had no memories.
The interesting question is, which abilities has the Evil Buu? It is possible, that this Buu has no special ability like the other Buus. No transform beam, no absorbing, no regeneration.. Great video🙂👍
Kid buu is the original evil incarnate, pure chaos and destruction manifested into a being. Grey Buu is the hatred and revenge that can grow within a good person when exposes to nothing but violence and cruelty, a different kind of evil. When Majin Buu first apears Gohan says that he is just an overgrown kid and perhaps if left alone he wouldnt hurt anybody as long as they kill Babidi so he cant threaten to put Buu back in the ball to influence him. But supreme Kai insists Buu must be killed or contained. When Majin Buu apears he is never the one to instigate the fight, he is being attacked and mocked so he retaliates, when being treated nicely he generally acts nicely. I especially love that it was Gohan that first noticed that, very similarly to how he was the first one to not treat Piccolo like a monster, if only supreme Kai hadnt been so afraid and traumatized by Buu he might have seen what Gohan was talking about and things would have turned out differently
The existence of the jacket helps explain things. The gray Buu was half of the Buu that absorbed the Kais (still possessing traits of the Kais), Super Buu is a re-formation of Buu with less dominant Kai influence, and Kid Buu has no influence whatsoever.
Something I've always been curious about is what would happen to Fat Buu if those two Supreme Kais were removed, by means of Forced Spirit Fission for example. A friend of mine believes that he would simply siece to exist, as without the evil that was once a part of him, those two are the only basis for him to be alive. I personally wonder if he would turn into a variation of Kid Buu, though possibly not quite as evil or insane, since that aspect of him is long gone now. I offered Forced Spirit Fission as a way to remove the Kais because there's no reason for anyone to go inside of Buu's body, and even if somebody did end up in there, there's no guarantee that there's anything left of their physical bodies after all those millions of years. The Moro arc demonstrates that at least one, possibly both beings still continue to exist within Buu's subconscious, so they could be removed, though I'd say that physical extraction like how Fat Buu and the others were freed from Super Buu isn't a given, considering how much time has passed.
Evil Gray Buu to me was the most creepiest Buu, When he became Super Buu he got back some childish like traits again. Evil Buu was sinister and quiet and would be really unpredictable.
I think it's very likely Evil Buu was going to flat out kill Fat Buu until the candification attempt which he then settled for sending it back.
I will give Evil Gray Buu that, I don't like his look but he is unnerving.
He definitely has the coldest stare in the entire series

Like Kid Buu is Evil Buu’s true form.
good theory mate. this is what i thought also
But Evil Buu doesn’t have the influence Fat Buu either
This concept you and LSM came up with makes sense but then it really doesn’t at the same time
@@KurokamiNajimi it must be that after he ate good buu and absorbed, I think the influence and powers of the Kais were now stores in good buu like a contained .
If they went inside Fat Buu and disconnected the Kai's then Fat Buu should turn into another Kid Buu theoretically
Then when Fat Buu was separated from inside Super Buu all that was left was just “Pure” Buu.
that's what I thought when I watched it
@@HeavySodaCans never thought that its simple and makes sense
@@haku8135 So my thought is this
Kid Buu is pure 100% evil, and 100% Buu (Physically).
Your videos about Trunks and the Cell saga actually made me go back and watch those episodes. I'll probably do the same with the Buu saga now
Not sure if it’s a plot hole or not. What I AM sure of, is that I was thoroughly entertained during that arc.
Kid Buu isn’t “evil” he’s chaos. He doesn’t have any notions of good or evil, it just runs on pure instinct

Fat Buu isn't the same as Good/Innocent Buu. Most of his power went into Evil Buu, making him the weakest Buu by far.

It makes perfect sense for kid buu to have emerged. The question is, why did the grey buu emerge at all? That’s how I see it
To me, Grey Buu is basically a metaphor for the conflict between good and evil that existed inside Buu.
I see it this way:
Kid Buu + Kaioshins = Fat Buu (with the Grand Kaioshin holding him back).
A Doylist explanation is that Toriyama wanted to surprise his readers one last time.😆
@@zaja2418 wow ... that's one way to look at it brother

Facts
My theory is that when Super Buu was born, Fat Buu, and all of the kais in him were put into a pod. When Fat Buu was torn out of Super Buu, all the kais went with him, spawning Kid Buu again since Evil Buu was the product of the kais being absorbed too (look at his clothes.)
Additionally, Skinny Buu (despite the name) wasn't "evil incarnate" the same way Kid Buu was.
Basically gray buu was kid Buu but aged since he was sealed within fat Buu if he was like kurama being sealed in Naruto

Exactly! Same thing I was saying, somehow Toriyama’s mistakes always worked lol
Kid Buu was his original form and most evil. The manga pretty much explains it well.
This has been the best translation for me that has made sense to me and really broke it down. Thank you! 🙌🏾
Big Facts!!!!!!!
My theory:
Evil Buu is the weakened version of Kid Buu with *some* of Fat Buu's Intelligence/Influence w/o enough Ki to become Kid Buu.
Kid Buu was the original form of Buu, just Buu with no-one else's influence.
the evil buu is the evilness in fat buu's heart.
Nothing more
Great explanation! I always wondered this myself, but you went through it meticulously.
Great video
I believe the answer simply comes down the body of Super Buu vs Evil Buu's body.
Mike?
Qaaman?
Glad to see someone still talking about DBZ on YT instead of droning on about Ultra Beast Omen Ego Fission like all the rest!
Lmfaooo Goku and Vegeta were dead talking shit and proceeded to get they shits whipped 😂😂😂
Lol the tone of your videos sound so educationally informative, it's like I'm in a live chat with my professor
Yet the kais are forgotten about when they pull out fat buu, if they can pull out the kais from buus, like they pulled out gohan, piccolo, trunks, goten, and
Fat buu, but I guess that fat buu is allowed to hold the kais existence in fat buu for some reason. On his new goodness.
I like how this video introduced a plot hole controversy I never even thought about and then shattered it instantly.
Toriyama literally forgot. That IS the explanation
Good Buu is the manifestation of the kaoshin who was powerful enough to effect his personality
The intriguing part is that the Good Buu could be reverted to Kid Buu if a nefarious person were to go into him and tear the Kiaoshin out.
But then if the first Buu we see is Kid Buu after absorbing those people, why weren't the other Kais seen in Super Buu?
It's been awhile since I've been this satisfied with a fan explanation. Great video!
Evil Buu is the distilled version of Kid Buu
It never made sense to me, until I watched this video. It makes perfect sense now and I can't see any argument against what Mike is saying. Top quality stuff!
I'm no Dragon Ball expert, but I always thought Grey Buu was the original Kid Buu, and splitting from Fat Buu took a lot of energy from him, making him appear old. After he was Buuhan, he had enough energy to go back to his younger form.
It’s not a pothole but it’s definitely convoluted haha. I’m so glad you’re back :)
I always enjoyed the fact that wrathful buu transforms into super buu by absorbing fat buu. Anorexic + overweight = jacked in dbz XD
(SSJ3's theme is overrated anyway lol.)
Anyway, this is completely unrelated to this specific video, but more to your channel as a whole: I'm glad that, despite using the manga as your main source of information, you never stop considering anime-only events and surprisingly even dub changes, going as far as mentioning such things from time to time in your discussions, which I find very considerate of you and appreciate it a lot.
So Evil Buu still had Kai Influence but the evil of Buu was just too great so Evil/Buu was born and took control over the good.
I mean even in Piccolo's case, when he fuses together with Kami he retains the "evil" version's appearance and personality just like how when Evil Buu absorbs Majin Buu, he retains his own personality although he does alter his appearance a bit to contain that power.
because dragon ball makes no sense
Dude, I can't get over how different you look. You look great congratulations 🎊
The real question is, what would happen if Kid Buu absorbed Fat Buu? Would he turn into Super Buu or something entirely different?
Probably still Super Buu.
@@ShiningJudgment666 That's if Evil Buu absorbs Fat Buu though. It's so damn confusing
Because Toriyama was making shit up as he went along
The fact that Dragon Ball is readable at all is a feat in itself, in my opinion.
Excellent breakdown. I finally understand after years thinking about it lol
The real question is why did fat buu expel evil buu instead of kid buu?
plothole.
He does, in Hyper Dimension... Lol
Thank you for giving us more clarity about all this mess about Buu.
I love this channel. Just gave me the answer to a question I had as a kid. And it makes so much more sense now.
Laughingstock about to bring back DBZtube single handedly
You know this was a question Quaaman himself had asked that I don't think myself could ever answer but you and some others answered it here perfectly.
I think 😅😅
That Zelda poster in the background earned you a subscriber.
Best explanation of Kid Buu vs Evil Buu I've ever heard.
Because Akira's editor said " make the design of his final form more interesting"
this vid is more energetic than the last face reveal thankfully
I always liked Evil Buu and thought it was a shame the form was only shown once.
Eighter is a pure form of the Frankenstein trope
Eighter!!!
I can't believe I been watching this channel since middle school
Glad to see your TH-cam retirement was as legit as Ric Flair's.
Glad you’re posting again!
I like that they gave Hurcle a big role and he actually was a good guy and was able to befriend Buu and got him to stop killing.
This is what I’ve always thought great video, been enjoying this live cam videos
This is exactly what I always assumed, great vid
Grey Buu was still dressed like a Kai. Must’ve still been some degree of influence. Grey Buu wasn’t 100 percent evil.
Glad you came back, this is good content.
Definitely enjoyed the well worded explanation. I shared this opinion. Great job!
I was listening to the Michael Myers theme while looking at the thumbnail and went “I never thought about this, wait?..”
It's pretty cool buu has his own purification system
You have been around forever and have a low sub count. But you keep on keeping on so credit for that.
Interesting points. I didn’t think about it that much, and figured that it was because Evil Buu didn’t have brain damage from after they messed with his brain from the inside. And afterwards, he went back to his first form because he had no memories.
Glad you're back!
I liked this version of buu the most. Too bad he wasn't here for long 😢
The interesting question is, which abilities has the Evil Buu?
Love the video. Makes perfect sense unlike other stuff in that arc 🤣
Glad you're back I'm enjoying your vids
