      Thanks for the Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (google it)? It is a smashing one off product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cooworker finally got cool results with it.

    Love the line about nobody needing a hip turn lesson before using a broom. This is true just like nobody flips their wrists early or pulls their arms in swinging a baseball bat. Visualizing the golf swing as just a bent over baseball swing like you mentioned in another video has been the single best tip I've ever heard. It has made night and day difference in my ball striking

    I'm getting frustrated with my wedge shots. Lot of shots launch too low and curving to the right, ending up overshooting past the green. I don't know what's going on.

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm afraid it's hard to comment without seeing your swing. That said I'd hit a lot of half wedges focusing on solid contact.

    ...or it can be the OBSESSION with hitting "downward" that cause the thin hit or chunking.
    Work on hitting through the ball. Hence, the broom analogy.

    I would say the swing plain is a massive factor also, shallow or flat swing plains will cause thin shots also

    This explains a lot. Just came off a Clay Ballard vid explaining my pull and my misses are either pull left or thin right. Both vids align with my problem being to steep/over the top and not getting that sweeping forward shaft lean through impact

    Great advice, interesting to think about how thin shots come from what would be a fat shot and you subconsciously avoiding putting the club in the ground. That makes a ton of sense but I never thought it of that way.

    Great illustration on the concept of negative attack angle into the ball. As for this concept, I'm always confused on two points: assuming everything else of the swing stays the same, if I change the two things below at ADDRESS, does it help or not help with the downward blow? And Why? 1) press hands a bit more towards the target to create some forward shaft lean, 2) move the ball a little back in the stance. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Thanks!

    Hi love your stuff, I’m new just started at 62 yr. I have a question. On correct set up with an 8 iron (blade square on and knees bent)I move my hands forward (left)and with the club head resting on the floor I post up to my impact position ..... my club face does two things, it goes to open by about 15 deg. and the club gets dragged in towards me by about a club width. Obviously those two things must differ from set up to impact as the two change.
    1. the knees are bent at set up but straighter at full post up I can see this when I bend and straighten the knees at setup position.There’s about a club width there. 2. The club face will auto open as the hands move from the middle of your torso to the left side around 10 inches . So ... I can’t get my head around those differences when a person makes a full swing and how do they allow for it.Am I going mad or has anyone seen this too or even explained it.....wow! Am I making any sense at all or am I imagining those differences, it’s driving me bonkers thinking on it. Please help!

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul,
      Often things in slow motion (or posed position) are rather different than what might happen at full speed. If you aren't hitting the ball way on the toe I wouldn't worry about it.
      Regards the club face, you are right. When hands are forward (left) at impact the face will tend to be open. Rotate the face down toward ground (less loft) to square it up.
      Hope this helps.

    That tip is very informative. I have the issue with hitting thin shots but not so thin that I am actually blading the ball at the equator. My usual contact is low on the face with no divot being taken post ball contact. That causes the ball to come up shorter than wanted quite often. I know that if I can get to where I am taking a divot after hitting the ball that would mean the contact is much better and more centered in the clubface. Problem is I just can't seem to get there with my irons.

      Tim,

      maybe you are trying to kill the ball when it comes to fairway woods the easiest trick is to let the club do the work don’t try to hit down i know that sounds contradictory but it works trust me it also might help to swing easy
