She had just turned 10 years that year.
The reason she is having to read the words is her mother insisted she change parts that were "too adult". She had just made the changes. And thanks for another great "Angelina reaction"
Actually this was the 2nd take. The first was great but when they asked Angelina what she thought about it, she casually replied "Yuck". She is really something very, very special.
And she rewrote the lyrics the night before.

She re-wrote some of the lyrics, to take out the adult explicit ones and replace them with what she thought would be best for her singing the lyrics to Amy Winehouse‘s version.
And she changed them while driving in the car to the recording studio.
Angelina was scheduled to record this song on April 22, 2016. The day before her mother told her the lyrics were not appropriate for a 10 years old. Angelina rewrote the lyrics the same day, edited them on the way to the studio and released the song the following day on April 23.

There is a lot going on here - First of all she was invited to sing with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, quite an honour. The NRK team took her and two school friends to a fun park, her vocal warm up was screaming her lungs out on the roller coaster- I'm sure that the scream was higher than her E5 that we sometime hear in her singing. From there, in the car with her friends, she was going over her improvised lyrics, then straight into the rehearsal - the first take , when she listened to it , she did not like - let's do it again. This young lady is very much a professional at 10 years old.
Angelina did that when she was 12 years old she’s a prodigy musical genius I had to prep her watching her record all this and had to be her way so she was satisfied with it
You will run out of adjectives and still not find the right one. The words simply do not exist to adequately describe this wonder.
Mom told her some of the lyrics were inappropriate, so on the way to this rehearsal, Angelina made changes! On the way in the car! She is years ahead and she arranges most everything she does, you can't do it any other way because of her voice and technique, only she knows her vocal abilities.

Angelinas "Angels" (that`s her fan group), there are not so many of us who can point out a list of their 10 favorites from her. Some of her songs I have heard a couple of hundred times,. Often I think that this one is her best, but then I think the same after the next songs I play from her. She does it great on all the videos we have been given from her.
I was told that this is KORK. From Wikipedia: "Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Norwegian, Kringkastingsorkestret, abbreviated as KORK) is a radio orchestra affiliated with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation". Angelina also worked with the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, as well.

I Angelina Jordan is one of a kind a child prodigy I think she’s been touched by an angel because your voice is divine
I can listen to any of Angelina’s cover songs and enjoy what she brings to them. Right upfront-I have to say that she is the best singer I’ve ever heard in my 70+ years. Second place could be one of several singers, but no one covers so many genres so beautifully and authentically. Having said that, this song is interesting because Angelina is reading her new lyrics and clearly singing them for first time, but it’s not in my list of top Angelina songs. There are 30 or 40 that I like better. For your next reaction, consider listening to acoustic Angelina. Try A Million Years Ago (Adele cover) or Stay (Rihanna cover) to hear Angelina unplugged. The beauty and emotion in her voice will rock you. You will see why so often Angelina’s cover of a song kills it for anyone else.

Hi Harri, Love watching your fascination toward AJ. As Howie Mandell said on AGT one word "hypnotic". The band is the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and it's considered a privilege to to have them play for you. It would be great to get your reaction to her performances on Norway's Got Talent that went on over a 6 month period. AJ was 7 on her first audition performing "Gloomy Sunday", a Billie Holiday cover. I would suggest listening to the original BH version first to get familiar with the song to better understand how impressive the performance really was. She went on to sing Billie Holiday's version of "I'm A Fool To Want You" A CAPPELLA! Again I would play BH version first. AMAZING! Yes she also covered both Valerie and Rehab Harri. Only about three reactors have reacted to Rehab probably out of fear that it is "too dark". Let me assure you that it is not. She changes the lyrics (as she did with this one) to make the song age appropriate. Please be one of the rare reactors with the courage to check it out.
Everytime she covers Amy Winehouse it is magic. Amy is one of Angelina's favorite singers and she wouldn't touch one of her songs without doing it proper justice.
Find the version with the thumbnail of her hugging a statue of Amy. The music is from a live performance, the visual is a slideshow. It's flawlessly performed.

KORK is the National Public Radio Orchestra of Norway and this is the second take. Angelina finished rewriting the lyrics, to make them age-appropriate, in the car on the way to the recording studio. A true musical prodigy.
Hello, thanks for the reaction. The interesting thing is the crumpled role where she reads when singing. That leaf was the one that Angelina made the arrangement of the letter because her mother did not let her sing the original lyrics as she was inappropriate. According to an hour before the scraping (which was done in just 2 times) the producer took Angelina and her friends to a nearby park, as it looks like the blade was in her pocket that was crumpled.
We can’t understand how at her age she can project those emotions with such little life experience to draw from, but she doesn’t need the life experience. We are all connected to those vibrations from birth. There is a place where sound and emotion are one and the same. It is something intrinsic that all living things share.

This time you are faced with a 10-year-old girl who chooses a certainly particular song, which also tells of a very complicated and explicit human journey, and, with an incredible vocal understanding and so close at Amy, decides to sing it by modifying the text herself, to transform the context as well ... and even this alone expresses the value of Angelina's interpretation, it is a recognition of her musical genius, since she was a child. 😊 ❤️

The day before this video was recorded, Angelina's mother read the lyrics then told Angie that she couldn't sing those lyrics. Angie went straight to work and wrote completely new lyrics. The next day included a trip to an amusement park with a few classmates, Angelina screaming to the heavens while on a roller coaster. I'm trying to put together a chronology of what she has done. 2016 was an incredible year for her. She worked with Alan Walker, TRXD, Avicii (who she lost to suicide April 20) Released some great covers including the still controversial BabyFuzz song, "I'm Still Holding out for You." I think she might have written "Oslo" and "What is Life" then too.

thanks a billion for you 5th AJ reaction video - and you should know, that only one day before this recording session her mother read the original lyrics and said to her that she can't sing this lyrics... so Angelina changed the lyrics to make them "child appropriate" - the last changes she made in the car on the way to the studio ;-)))

There is a very heartwarming story about why Angelina is barefoot.
When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and promised she would never again wear shoes while performing until all children of the world had shoes! At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, and became the youngest ever published author in Norway.
For your next reaction, I would highly recommend this interview which was recorded on Norwegian TV when she was 10. It discusses the barefoot story and all I can say is have your tissues ready.

Harri, Angelina has a Raspy voice simulator to her Idol Any Winehouse. Back Story; Angelina had to change the song's Lyrics and title to "Back to Black" or not record the song. Her Mother did not think the Lyrics were age appropriate for a 10 yr old to sing. So Angelina made changes to the Lyrics along with the title "Back To Love" the night before recording the song.

After winning NGT in 2014, even the royal family of Norway and the prime minister of Norway herself were fans of her, and as was assured by Norwegians, Miss Angelina Jordan Astar was declared, a national treasure of Norway. The musicians of Scandinavia know her by her nickname THE BOSS.
I just discovered your channel so I’m not sure if you know this information or not. The night before Angelina was to record this song, she had to change the lyrics in order for her to be able to sing it bc of the adult content. So not only did she change up the lyrics but she’s reading the lyrics off a paper as she sings. Her talent is limitless 😊

She changed the lyrics to make them more appropriate for her age on the way to the studio. A lot of her covers are quite spontaneous. She does little or no rehearsal so you always see her looking at the lyrics since she hasn't given herself time to memorize them. How does she do that???

Hi Harri, this video is the second take of it, that's why AJ looked a bit grumpy. There is a video of her in the engineer booth listening to the first take. Most musicians were ok with it, BUT not their national treasure. Someone there told later, at the end of listening to the 1st take she said only YUCK. So they did it a second time and this time she was satisfied with herself singing.

To summarize her Norway's Got Talent performances, please react to Gershwin's "Summertime" (th-cam.com/video/443pBSpx5B4/w-d-xo.html). AJ was 7 when she started the competition, and 8 when she won. This is her last of 4 performances, and one of the best renditions of the song I've ever heard, never mind that it's the most covered song in history.
