- Since I collect so much music, in this video I just share a brief overview of my full physical media music collection. I go through my Vinyl Records, Cassette Tapes, CDs, vintage Reel to Reel Tapes, and 8-Track Tapes. I have been collecting vinyl records for so many years now, but the decade I love collecting the most of is 80s music. I plan on making more videos going in depth of my albums, so stay awhile if you'd like to see that. I hope you enjoy! :)

Wow! Years ago had one of those. I'm amazed at how much they have gone up. In Jacksonville I'd run across them at flea markets several times a year in the early 80s. Now they are apparently highly sought after. Great find!

Wow I love your music taste and collection! From ABBA to Queen to Pink Floyd to ZZ TOP. I like your whole collection! I currently own about, between 2000 and 3000 LPs. I was at a record show yesterday in my home town. Picked up a Ramones LP with “I want to be Sedated”. I also picked up a first press of The Marvellettes “Playboy”. Love your BamBam and other items.

Awesome collection. My mom gave away my record collection when went away to college. I came back for xmas break intending to bring the records back to school but obviously that didn't happen. I was so upset but she really didn't have any sympathy. I started collecting again back in 2005. If I had only known back then that the hobby was going to blow up ten years after (no pun intended) I would have been more aggressive about acquiring stuff back then. I probably only had 50 by 2015 and got another 200 from 2015 to 2019. Today I have maybe 10K! And I'm way behind on putting them on discogs too. My stuff is also all over the place as well. You have some good taste, a little bit of everything! Fire: Love and Rockets, Oingo Boingo,Erasure, Duran Duran, Thompson Twins Talking Heads, Sade (I have the box set as well as originals), and no collection is complete without some Creedence. Every single album of theirs is like a greatest hits compilation. All killer no filler. If you don't have any in G I recommend getting some Grand Funk Railroad. The first 3 albums are awesome.On Time, Survival, and Closer To Home, which is probably their best. The two bands I have the most of are, like yours it appears, The Beatles and The Stones. I think the Stones have a lead on the fab 4 by 5 or 6 LPs, but if I could afford to get the stereo remixes that have come out in the last few years it would be a closer race. It's hard to choose which group I like more, but you gotta just give it too the Beatles.What they came up with the maybe 10 years they were together is flipping amazing. I love me Let It Bleed, Goats Head Soup, Some Girls, Their Satanic Majesties Request (which I have on open reel with the ventricular cover!) are all fire but what superlatives can't you use to describe Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, and Revolver?? What are your thoughts on this? Maybe you can do a Beatles vs. Stones video!!!!
I'll leave you with the very first LP I bought with my own money when I was maybe 7 or 8. So we are talking early 80s here. I was probably wearing a Goofy t-shirt (the Disney character, not a goofy looking t-shirt) and some cords when I was with my older sister and dad at a strip mall that had a record store. We were waiting for mom to come out of some store she had been in for a while so the three of us were walking around killing time. I went with my sister into the record store while dad waited outside. I think my sister was looking at some Billy Joel, Maybe Glass Houses. I came upon a band I remember hearing on the radio at the time and I wanted the record because the cover was such a cool image. It was of a dude's hand holding the entire earth in his upturned palm with some roots hanging down from it between his fingers with some soil as well like he had pulled it from the dirt below like a beet or a potato or some other root veg,. Do you know what Band/Album that is? What was the first record you bought? Keep up the great content. You could mine your entire collection for videos for years if you went into deep dives on particular artists, genres, years, etc.
Cool those wooden dividers, and from your grandma! My LP-collection is a total mess (I'm too lazy), great to see yours so organised. All looks so cosy surrounded by your stuff, really great Geraldine!

I alphabetize my music by first name too, but not because of Discogs, but because I keep them in a spreadsheet and would have to add a column and split up first name from last name.
Hello Geraldine I live in New Zealand, and i am in my sixties. I knew a guy back in the 1970s, and he had a reel to reel tape deck. When recording on it we had to be so quiet as not to make a noise. I love the Cramps They are one of my favorite groups. They are crazy good. 🤪 Good to see a young lady into some oldie bands that i grew up with. I love the Monkees , i liked to watch their 📺 TV show back in the 1960s. Excellent pop music. I'm into Jazz in a big way. I love Nina Simone, i think she was one of the best entertainers of all time. I have many cds of her music. My favorite song of hers is I Feel Good. The Beatles were a feature in my early life, they excited me when I first heard them. All my Loving is favorite song. It can bring on emotion for me. I bought vinyl records and cassettes back in the 1970s/ 80s. I like your name Geraldine, i don't have children but if i did have a daughter i would have named her Geraldine. Have a Merry Christmas. From Carl.

Used to have a Panasonic 2 speed open reel and a Tascam 3 speed quad that could take up to 10 inch reel with adapter. Love open reel. Grew up in both 8 track and cassette era... Also had 5 movies in 35mm and a bunch of trailers at one point... now just limited to vinyl, cds, dvd blue and some comics, zines and theatrical one sheets but how can one not appreciate all of it. ❤ great share.
Nice Collection. Love that New Order album also. Probably one of the very first record that I bought with my own money in the 80’s. Also I have almost every 12 inch single from Erasure and PSB love those especially the UK version.

My friend is a Mastering Engineer and cutting the master record for one of these bands. I play my 80s records in his studio. I have the first four Duran Duran Albums in Vinyl i bought the day they came out.

You are very organized, and have great taste.
My vinyl collection is small, because I keep only records with great sound quality -- regardless of the melody.
I have re-purchased the same pressings over and over, crossing my fingers each time, that when the stylus meets the groove, that it will sound amazing. Sadly, few records have such great sound quality. And so this quickly gets expensive. But what I have sounds amazing.
I wish that I had a reel-to-reel player, as I have read that it is the final say in amazing sound quality (assuming you manage to get an early copy from the master tape, and not a copy of a copy, etc).
Alas, unless I have a rich relative that I never heard of that had me in their will, I will never own a reel-to-reel machine. And even if I had money to burn, that does not mean I can just go out and purchase the reels that have great sound quality. As you mentioned, they are hard to find. You are fortunate to have found what you have in your collection.
I am so jealous of your cassette collection and I love the way you have all your music in so many cool boxes. Love your videos :)

I usually only buy Best of or Greatest Hits vinyl albums of only top 100 song bands from the 60's to 2000's Your collection looks so impressive of all types of media. ( Impressive)

i found a nice collection of reels at a sale earlier this year, about 60 of them mostly all classic rock, there was 2 boxes about 30 in each box for $10 per box, eneded up being over 4k in value, i sell on ebay most of them have sold by now lots of super rare titles some not even on discogs as having ever been found, all in near perfect condition 1 was even still sealed

Keep an eye out for a band called Peter Hook and the Light. Its the bass player from Joy Division and New Order. Im going to watch them at the Enmore theatre in Sydney soon. They are playing the Substance album from both Joy Division and New Order. Not sure where you are but they are playing UK, Canada, USA later this year. If you can catch them youll be able to hear your favourite album live. Good luck.
