Heh Vinyl Eyes I have a question & I would love for you to make a video about it you know the 45 & vinyl record format war well I want to see in your opinion if you would think It will be a cool idea if shaped records & liquid colour records had a format war in todays era if that were to happen what would be your take on it do you like that idea let me know in a future video please I want to see your thoughts I love your videos by the way I have 51 vinyl records in my collection Edit: please forgive me for sending this 3 times I just really wanna know what you think or hear your thoughts
I wanna see you cover musical film soundtracks on vinyl records that are the best albums ever! Include west side story '61 ,singing in the rain and the sound of music '65 and wizard of oz,and Rodgers and Hammerstein! Make it next video!
You also need to make sure to avoid extremes of temperature and humidity, but the most important thing is to keep them well away from magnetic fields; so don't store them next to your speakers.
How I'm ment to avoid high temperatures and high humidity when I live in the UK and the weather gets very wacky one day it could be a nice 20 degrees outside and then the next it's still 20 degrees but the humidity has sky rocketed and feels like 50 degrees.
I have collected around 900 cassettes over my lifetime and still collecting, it's getting harder to find a particular cassette when I'm in the mood. Now i think i should contact an carpenter to build a huge rack.
For my cassette collection, I use a combination of vintage storage drawers/cases, and simply stacking them next to each other along wall mounted shelves. One question .. Aren't cassettes supposed to be stored vertically to prevent warping and distortion? I've heard this advice a few times.
I still have my cassette storage boxes from the day. One is a long case with a metal buckle button type closure. It is red with black, white and grey diagonal stripes. Oh, the memories! 😅😊
I have 3 of this IKEA cassette drowers from the 90s and a little plastic storage one in my cars. Plus my Buick also as a storage for 6 tapes in the armrest.
I have 3 of the 80s drawer cassette holders, piled on top of my VHS drawers. I also have 2 cassette suitcase types, 1- 50, 1- 100, and several small wooden ones. I have started putting new ones in a drawer under my stereo system.
The last people growing up with cassettes are growing old, and as we know, nostalgia weighs heavily. Why not!? But I also think people should think about a scenario when internet connection isn't available. Just like power, you can get disconnected. And who knows what the future holds. So why not have your favorite music on a physical format. Or at least a local server ;)
I'm mid 30s and cassettes def was the most accessible format growing up in the 90s, but its def a minus not buying any physical media any longer. I could've filled several walls at home with cool stuff with what I've payed for Spotify the past decade. Albums used to have their own 'feel' but now its like spitting out gum
For tapes that I haven't listened to yet, I put them in a repurposed file case. Those that have been listened to are put in the cardboard box (for now, might upgrade to storage ones).
gorgeous cassettes, especially the latest ones, which are shiny and very expensive, but also all high-quality cassettes that we can see with your help, I would also like to see something exclusive and rare, metal cassettes or something that is not available whom, see you on the channel, I have a huge collection of cassettes and there are many rare and high-quality beautiful things
Starting to get into cassettes now, just for the fact that one of my cars is from early 90s and the radio plays cassettes, the center console can also hold a few cassette cases! Thanks for this great informative video to help me get started!
I got 2 milk crates full of tapes. It was cool when I was younger but not feeling the look anymore. It’s 3 layers of tapes so I have to dig to find something at the bottom which is why the top layer get listened to the most. Might have to invest in one of these
You know what’s even better than that, Jarrett? A double-sided vintage Savoy cassette suitcase that holds 120 tapes, 60 per side…I have two of them…EBay specials and they are enough for my needs! Very portable, too…For the record, they made smaller versions of the double sided faux leather cases, as well and single-sided versions, too!
With some patience and some “lookin’ out”, you can find some great cassette storage drawers at estate sales. I use cassette storage drawers to hold my Sega Genesis games since they are roughly the same dimension, but slightly slimmer.
How about storing them in a shoebox big enough for work boots/safety shoes. I’d recommend getting one that’s already attached to the box. Good enough for someone that doesn’t have a lot of cassettes. If you have enough for a second size, get one that the size or close to the side of the first one. Ideal to stack them. I’d be careful should you dare to try more than two. But the ideal one to use if you’d rather spend some money on, would be the rack that holds 100 cassettes. Make sure it’s good enough when you mount it using big nails that are able to hold the rack in place. But make sure you do it before you load the cassettes! 🤣 Now what wasn’t mentioned was price. These ain’t cheap as they range from $40 up to around $120. But it’s a wise investment and good suggestion by vinyleyezz!
Cassettes main advantages prior to the MP3 and streaming eras of music were their portability for personal use or for listening them during trips on vehicles or walkman, and the cheaper prices that compensated their inferior sound quality. But since all of that became obsolete in the 2000s decade, they're only worth for albums from the 80s and 90s never released on CD or vinyl, or that had never been reissued on those formats ever since their original runs and thus are so rare and expensive to the point that a cassette version is the only cheap and affordable option to get them. Cassette revivals had been tried over and over since the 2000s when the format died but none of them had truly succedeed in order to at least make them relevant once again.
I managed to find a cassette drawer at a thriftstore in april. It holds 50 cassettes, which is perfect for my needs of building a new collection of tapes for my own home use. Now I just need to find more home made mixtapes from thriftstores and maybe even buy more blank cassettes when I have the opportunity.
Hi, I just wanted to congratulate you on your great channel/video. Regarding how I store my cassettes, after a long search, I finally opted to make my own using wooden 🍷 boxes I can get for FREE at a local winery 😊 I wish I could post a photo, I basically arranged them horizontally side by side and another two attached below, totalling 144 cassettes.
I have a dedicated recycling trash bin for cassette tapes in my garage. Many have been picked up and taken to the recycling plant. I have some stragglers here and there on the dirty floors in the tool shed and a few under the back patio rotting away from years ago. Getting rid of my cassette tapes was a great move!
The MOST IMPORTANT point was missed. Wherever or however you choose to store your tapes, never leave them near anything magnetic. If you carry anything around that has some type of a magnet, you need to get rid of it completely if you're gonna have cassettes in your life. Everyday example: A simple badge holder for a Company ID card...put that anywhere near a cassette and bam...there goes 40 years worth of memories. Same goes for cell phone chargers. Magnets are everywhere in our daily lives, unlike before and it's really something to be consciously aware of. In the 80s, magnets were either on the fridge or in the garage.
I just started my cassette collection and I've been tinkering and fixing broken cassettes here and there. As a result I've ended up with a lot of scrap/spare parts. I had to use a shell to fix another tape that's shell unfortunately snapped and now I have a blank tape ribbon with no shell that I'd like to save. What's the best way to store the tape ribbons outside of a shell? Unfortunately I don't have another empty shell to put it into.
If your a real cassette fan, try and find an old DBX Expander. With good tape, expander, and a real good tape deck 9 out of 10 experienced listeners would not be able to pick out the cassette over a n album. It can be done. I'll stick with digital, but hey, enjoy.
if you have a megaton of cassettes, wooden cd wall-mounted racks works ok, and you can stack two cassettes in front of each other without them falling out
so far all cassettes we've had at home have stayed in those commercial cardboard banana crates. hopefully soon i can get myself a shelf so i have a proper idea of what songs even are in there lol
I store my cassettes on my Vinyl collection that is on my CD collection all in a big pile... :D A few years back I threw away loads of my cassette tapes & i really regret it now :( I still kept a few good ones tho, thank god ;) That 100 cassette holder looks well cool to 😎
Hey man, so I was cleaning my cassette player, and I heard something thing fall, I was worried so I played a tape and it still worked normal. Do you think I should be concerned is still works good, thanks
I really can’t stand the wood color they use for media storage. It always looks old and dusty, but it seems like your only other options are plain white or black
Cassette tapes look really cool, but they're an awful audio format. Sometimes you're listening to side A and you can hear side B backwards in the background. You can also hear hissing and other annoying noises. Tapes get moldy and get stuck in the player. They get demagnetized. It makes no sense to me that some albums are getting released on cassette but not on CD. I still keep many cassette tapes because of their cool covers, but I never listen to them.
I always enjoy watching your content, but Cassettes are one of the worst formats of all time. I grew up listening to Cassettes until I was around 12 years old, and I don't think I have one positive memory relating to the format. The cases were garbage, the sound was unreliable (especially after a lot of plays), and the tape would frequently fail beyond repair. I totally understand why people are drawn to physical media, especially vinyl records, but I will never be on board with a cassette revival. Cassettes are literal trash.
Could't agree more, i don't understand the hype at all. Another down side is that it hast mostly no booklet at all and the cover is even smaller than a CD Cover. There is just no real benefit imo except maybe that ist doesen't take up that much space but thats it.
@@slayerabyss6664 Another flaw is trying to find a song and having to keep fast-forwarding or rewinding the tape to cue it up. It was so annoying. I feel the same way about VHS tapes. Both are equally garbage.
