I learned to love hifi from my oldest brother and Dad (brother was a rep for Teac, ESS Speakers and other lines in the US back then, I even got to go to a CES show in Vegas, wow). I'm curious how a young lady like yourself got bitten by the Hifi bug; who? When?
When I sold hifi waaaaaay back in the 80's Shure cartridges were well priced but tended to run bright, alternatives in the price range I sold the most of (MM, about 100 - 200 bucks) were ADC and AT. So many brands to choose from. Besides speakers the most overpriced piece of a decent hifi system (confirm this based on making the most money between profit and spifs)
I remember this model when it was released , a little unusual in its design but still kinda cool , do you have any minidisc players in your collection?
The other day I ended up spending like $30 on cds. Wasn't planning on it but I wanted out with a good selection. There's nothing like physical media. Keep up the good work.
Someone should introduce you to piracy, it's cheaper and the SAME amount of support goes out to the artists!
do OF
NO
Great scores! Wish I could have seen the other cd’s you selected these from….
Until the End of the World is my all-time favorite soundtrack. The little bits of score (by Graeme Revell) between songs are so beautiful. And the movie is fantastic! Theres a 2+ hour version that was released originally, but if you like that, there's a four hour director's cut on the Criterion Collection. Wim Wenders is a great film director, and his movies always have excellent soundtracks. Others to check out are Wings of Desire, Paris Texas, and the sequel to Until the End of the World, Far Away So Close. All great movies, all great soundtracks. Another great soundtrack to check out is Married to the Mob. It's a really funny Jonathan Demme film with a fun, kooky soundtrack. In the 90s, a great way to discover new music was through soundtracks and tribute albums! So many of my favorite songs come from those. You have such great taste in music! And i _love_ your Talking Heads Little Creatures poster!
Hayyy
You should contact Steve Guttenberg !
I hope you give the Until the End of the World soundtrack a good listen. I’m not a soundtrack person but I bought that back in the day and played the groves off of it. A bunch of the songs were written/recorded especially for the soundtrack. It has the last ever Talking Heads song, incidentally.
All of Wenders' soundtracks are great, but Until the End of the World's is especially so. Only complaint is that it's missing the early version of Peter Gabriel's Blood of Eden which was in the film.
"Situation" by Yaz! We used to dance our asses off with the ladies to that song in the clubs in '82, '83. Big shout out to Gangsters, Cosmos, and Nitro nightclubs. Detroit, Baby!
Damn good editing. A pleasure to watch your videos. And if you use streaming, check out Depeche Mode's remix of "Silence" called Ewan Pearson Extended version. Great to play while driving.
How can someone so young as her know who Bronski Beat was? Makes my heart feel good. Great records, especially for ten bucks.
Do you listen to Brian Auger's Oblivion Express? Great albums to add to the vinyl collection.
This girl is super cool. 👊🏻
I've never actually heard it called "the aux selector". And that tape deck is awesome. As are the tone controls on the pre-amp. My first real turntable was a Dual. I truly felt like I'd arrived when I bought the thing. Wish I'd kept it.
So cool!
When the Hitachi CD 1000 first came out I bought it. It cost $1000 at first. I was a great unit but it broke after awhile. The door would start to close on the CD before it went down. But it was great for the really first cd player. I built my first integrated amp from Harmon Kardon and also an FM unit from Heathkit. Vintage units are fun but the today's units are really much better as are the speakers. But you have a wonderful setup and appreciate your effort to show how stereo started.
Be gentle with operating some of the switches and mechanisms to prolong their use.
Hi Geraldine what a great bunch of CDs you got there, that DM stripped single it’s a gem specially because it has the b-side but not tonight. I would like to know what’s the barcode for that Pearl Jam VS, I’ve never seen before a clear Jewelcase edition of that album!
I wanted some good sounds that were portable, or at least luggable as they old COMPAQ computer used to be called. I put a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X791 with 100W amp into a box with two Infinity Kappa 6x9 3 ways. Oh yeah.... Nice setup of stuff. People have lost the love of good sounding music and the experience of REAL musicians and REAL voices and how those sound on this type of stuff. Nice to see young people realizing they live in a mostly fake world.
I still have a briefcase of tapes that I made from the radio back in the day. It too bad the players today all suck. Or they are crazy expensive.
Excellent find. Hope you enjoy them. You have some real gems there.
Hello, how is it compared to hitachi cp88r? Similiar design cassette but i cant find any info for the hitachi
It's been 2 months since you added your last video. When are you going to add a new video? Are you doing okay? I am very worried about you.

wow that cassette tape tray is really cool lol
Es maravillosa esa colección. Siempre admiré los equipos antiguos pero sobre todo los magnetófonos de bobina abierta.
Bro she’s my hero.
My best thrift (charity shop here in Britain) store cd find, a mint looking copy of ABBA - The Visitors for 50p (64c). It was a first pressing that I resold for £100 ($127 U.S) and that was acceptance of an eBay ‘best offer’ too as I need some funds asap.
Very Nice
You know it,,,help delete social media hackers,,leave them blind
Te amo
Extremely jealous of that tape deck. Great setup!
omg would of been a couple back in the day! Love your setup
That is a very sought after portable. I have a (broken) KT-4066 since new.
Great video...well produced.
Nice...enjoy your system. Thank you for sharing it with us. In case you don't realize it, the RIAA setting is usually correct for most non-78 records. The "LP" setting I *think* is for early Columbia/Epic mono LPs which followed the Columbia curve (I am forgetting if any other labels used their eq curve). That went away sometime in 1954 for any new lacquers cut, when the RIAA eq was standardized across the various record companies. It's good to have the outboard Dolby unit...even though your cassette deck has Dolby, you're likely more often than not better off shutting it on the deck and using the Teac for any Dolby B encoded tapes, since it lets you manually adjust it to get the Dolby noise reduction to track properly. Most pre-recorded tapes with Dolby B in my experience often do not track properly, leaving behind a "pumping" sound and duller sound than it should be. Adjusting the calibration/levels manually with your Teac allows you to tune that in and hear the tape properly. That McIntosh is wonderful.
Every audio enthousiast probably prays for a girlfriend like you. Way too little women are into good audio gear. I love your McIntosch.
“Welcome to Wherever You Are” is my sentimental favorite INXS album! ‘Taste It’ is a great track! I hope you enjoy the album!
Mine too
It is.
It has been 1 month since you added your last video. Are you doing okay? I am very worrried about you.
