    Sounds good Jamie. Look forward to the build and explanations. Are you considering sway bar disconnects?

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are not something I would use often these days, but yes I'll consider them in the future. The absence of KDSS is a backward step compared to the 200.

  • @and7976

    Getting rid of the KDSS is a smart move; it's simply not worth the extra hassle

    Thanks Jamie. Excellent video. I'm thinking of doing the same with a 0-50 front and 50-100 rear spring as I travel light (no bar, no draws or rear bar etc). Did you need to change the UCA's and is their any need for an adjustable panhard. Cheers Andy

      Hi Andy, I'm looking at a similar setup to you for our new LC300 VX. Could you please let me know what GVM setup you ended up going with, thanks Darren.

      @@darrenwatters239 Hi, the 3925kg compatible kit. . I did put on a steel bar in the end. Front spring is the XGS 0-100kg adjusted for the bar weight and the rears are 50-100kg. Cheers

    Excellent video Jamie....what coil spring ratings did you end up going for front and back?

    • @austimages
      @austimages  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the front springs are one option for this kit, being the heaviest spring. I went with the 275kg rear springs, as I will be adding some weight later. I believe they are also available with 80-100kg rear springs, but you'd need to check that with TJM.

    Great video just wondering how much lift you have . A chap I know did it and got 3inch on the back which seems high ?

    • @austimages
      @austimages  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The back is high if it's empty, as it's designed to give 50mm of lift with about 250kg of extra weight in the back.

    Jamie I test drove a 300 VX before I ordered my vehicle and I noticed it had a lot of body roll when cornering on the road . After the upgrade did you notice if the body roll was lessened?

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No noticeable difference to body roll. The 300 has more than a KDSS-equipped 200, and the 300GR with it's E-KDSS. The only way you'll reduce it on a VX would be to add stiffer anti-roll bars, but that would compromise offroad performance.

  • @wheeman999
    @wheeman999 ปีที่แล้ว

    Assuming there's a lift associated with the new suspension. Do you know if the shocks have a slightly longer travel over stock? ie "extended shocks".

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, about 50mm lift. I didn't test the factory shocks for travel, so can't be certain on a comparison, but they have very good travel.

    Hi Jamie, will you look at putting in a donaldson air filter for the 300? Not sure if there is one? I have seen the new 300 have the same dust issues as our older 200's air boxes😔

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. As soon as I can get one. I believe they are in development, but could be some time away from release.

    Great video and thank you for sharing!
    Doing the upgrade Pre Rego does this mean your 300 is now a commercial vehicle? and does that now mean the car is exempt from LCT?
    I have my 300 coming next month and strongly considering doing the same pre rego

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it's still a passenger vehicle. I had hoped to avoid LCT, but the ATO have released a guideline that specifies what needs to be changed on a wagon to qualify for a change to commercial/LCT exempt. Unfortunately, a GVM upgrade and even a reduction to 5 seats doesn't cut it. They give an example of reducing to 2 seats and permanently removing the other 5 seats as being acceptable.

      @@austimages So what is the rego classification of your upgraded 300? I thought after the upgrade the rego changes to NB1 which is a commercial vehicle

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@warrenbonello7149 Still an MC. Some SSMs do change the classification, but the ATO do not use that for tax purposes. It's just an ADR classification.

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@warrenbonello7149 If you have a read of this doc from point 28 onwards, it gives the ATO's determination of wagon modifications. It's only a draft technically, but it's what they are using. www.ato.gov.au/law/view/print?DocID=DLD%2FLCTD2022D1%2FNAT%2FATO%2F00001#H22

  • @deceptikhon

    Isn't the KDSS suppose to disengage the sway bar during off road and vice versa on roads?

    • @austimages
      @austimages  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that's essentially how it works. But other than the GR Sport, the 300 series doesn't have KDSS. It's an unfortunate downside compared to the 200-series, in which it was fitted to most of the range.

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have to say I do! But other than that, the driveline is very nice. The 10-speed is so much better than the 200's 6-speed.

    How did you do a GVM upgrade and not changing the tyres

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The factory wheels and tyres are rated high enough for the revised load. But I will be upgrading the wheels and tyres soon.

      @@austimages thanks i looked doing a GVM upgrade to 3800 or 4200 amd was told the rims are ok but not the tyres i would have to change before upgrade the guys ar TJM Brookvale are a great bunch of guys I'll be interested to see your upgrades

    • @austimages
      @austimages  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pata8167 The factory tyres are rated at 1180kg each, or 4720kg in total. Can't see why they would be telling you you need new ones. Even if they are re-rating the rear axle, it would have to be over 2300kg for the standard tyres to be insufficient. Could be that the brand you're looking at chose to do their certification tests with other tyres, so they require them for all the upgrades. Seems an odd thing to do, as it removes some choice and adds to initial costs.
