This review seems fair. A lot of low-light conditions photos, thanks. Cameras on the back seems to be good and this is first time we can say that Fold has nice set of cameras. But still, I can see lot of autofocus issues, portrait mode looks bad on dishes, some photos and videos looks amazing but sometimes very average - I think this "quality differences" between photos is still a big disadvantage of Samsung cameras overall. But details are OK and noises are low. However, night photos still sometimes looks worse than these made on P30 Pro. What's good, performance of cameras should increase a bit after updates. Now it seems like a nice upgrade compared to Z Fold 3, but still expecting better cameras on such pricey thing.
I have seen reviewers complaining that the ultra-wide sensor is not capable of 60 frames per second but I have seen other reviewers claiming that it actually can so which one is right?
Hey! I think it would be great to incorporate different photos into your review such as indoor kids moving, or pets, etc. There are many people who are trying to determine the "shutter speed" and Samsung has been atrocious with indoor kids/pets when they move. Thanks for the vid tho!
While I would like to do this, since I do so many camera tests, it's hard to get the family and pets in the shots when I'm traveling for work 3-4 days out of a week.
I don't know why people are complaining about the UDC. Think of it as a pre-filter built-in, and it gives a soft glow to the pictures. Besides, it helps ease the looks of wrinkles.
Were the nighttime photos that were taken in non night mode done with the default auto camera settings? Or were they taken in pro mode with ISO adjustments?
I was planning to switch from S22U to this, but the lack of the 10x lens and especially no built in s-pen are major deal breakers for me. Maybe the next fold 🤷
No, That's the natural bokeh of the larger sensor. Other videos with the main sensor didn't focus as well on my face, so the background isnt as blurred.
The return of the video test in mono sound... Your last ones had the stereo sound back but it's gone again. Look at this when you edit your videos. Apart from that the camera of this Fold 4 seems a bit disappointing to me overall
Man the main sensor is surprisingly horrible with selfies and less than amazing otherwise. They definitely have some tuning to do on that thing, which is surprising because I thought it was the same sensor used in the S22 series (Non Ultra)
@@phandroid Fair enough and I watch most or all of your videos so I clearly appreciate your content and insight. From my computer screen however the selfies taken with the main sensor were almost all extremely blurry and lacked clarity. Maybe it was my monitor, but good to know that you saw something completely different than I did. Since I pre-ordered the Fold I am hoping its not as terrible as it appeared to be. I specifically waited to order a Fold until they improved the main sensor quality since photo quality is my top priority.
@@bigsbymusic I wish I could post a screenshot here to provide more clarity on my observation. From what I saw it wasn't a portrait mode issue because even his face was blurry in several of the shots. This was specifically on the main sensor, not the outside or inside selfie cam. One of the benefits one expects with this fold configuration is that using the main sensor for selfies is superior to any standard selfie camera. It seems like I'm the only one who noticed it, so it's apparent that it's a non issue and perhaps it was either a resolution problem with my monitor or something else entirely on my end. It's just odd that I didn't see similar issues with the main selfie cam (outside unfolded selfie camera).
Wow, someone's definitely not a fan. I always love it when we get comments like this with viewers stating absolutes without making an effort to give examples.
Overall, above average, def better than the Fold3, but nothing that would make me think this is in the Top 5 camera phones of 2022. The good; night mode is very nice, on all three cameras. Daylight photos are as we would expect in 2022, nothing to complain about (caveat below). The bad; selfie cameras are meh. You will be forced to use the main cameras to get something good. Not a fan of the bokeh photos, seem like a cardboard cutout, no gradual bokeh. The video of the food, focus in and out, a bit off-putting. Low-light video average at best. Ultra-wide, at the fringes, loses details. 3X zoom was hit or miss. I am assuming an update or two will be incoming that could easily fix all these, so too early to pre-judge. Is being better than the Fold3 enough…at $1800+?
Personally I think the photos and videos turned out very well so I'm defo looking forward to getting my fold 4 soon
Awesome!
Where is the 30x time digital zoom at? I want to see what it looks like on the Fold 4.
It would be same as s22's
@@mit6089 But the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 would help processing of the digital zoom.
@@selw0nk they have the same ISP, the improvements you're seeing over the S22 series are most likely camera software optimizations.
@@selw0nk i dont think newer chip has different internals, it just works more efficient and clock speeds are boosted
It may be just my imagination

Apparently the image processing it's better that the previous phones.

I feel like my Z Fold 3 takes better photos than many of these. Not sure why.
Good job bro i ordered the beige colour this will be my second phone with tbe upcoming iphone 14 pro max

Why is it android phones still skip frames when recording videos????

Start watch video 02:28 and in 02:31 when you turn the camera at this moment, there is a frame skip and the video twitches.
Pics looks beautiful. ❤️
100% acceptable for a camera. I'm not a professional and neither is pretty much everyone else out there
Perfect yet people say it's a deal breaker lol
@@mrkring1526 haha so true, and they all take a photo and then upload to social media
finally a nice made test of the camera
thanks for that's.
Which one is the best quality? The 50mp? It has different options
i have fold 4 but why the quality not
ike tnis. which app do you use ? are you use stock camera app ?
I don't know why people are complaining about the UDC. Think of it as a pre-filter built-in, and it gives a soft glow to the pictures. Besides, it helps ease the looks of wrinkles.
Ummmm... no. It's just bad.
I have seen a lot of social media pictures with softly blurred blending filters as the UDC produces.
Any input on how the cameras perform in social apps?
Nope. My recommendation is always to use the details camera for capture since you know it will deliver the best results.
This is actually extremely great quality for any smartphone
Were the nighttime photos that were taken in non night mode done with the default auto camera settings? Or were they taken in pro mode with ISO adjustments?
Default camera with auto night mode toggled off.
Sound in the first minute is really muffled and quiet with too much background noise? What happened?
If you compare fold 2, fold 3 this fold 4 is way to far and way to good in the camera department. Nice video by the way 👍 can't wait to get mine soon
sir i want to buy a good camera phone pixel 6 vs oneplus 9 pro which should i buy?
So many of the photos look kind of blurry to me
I thought so too and then I checked my TH-cam settings and it had defaulted to 480p! Needless to say I changed it straight away lol

The Fold4 case has an S Pen slot and it's for the larger pen that's much more comfortable.
Always someone complaining
Samsung including free case and pen for pre orders and 1k off sticker for trade of z2 or z3
Is the first 4k30 video portrait? It has a nice blurred background
No, That's the natural bokeh of the larger sensor. Other videos with the main sensor didn't focus as well on my face, so the background isnt as blurred.
Nice vid, thanks. Vast improvement on the Fold 3. TBH, selfie vids at night suck anyway. Main camera shots are good!
I mean, if you wanna take a selfie, just use the back camera, since you can have the outer screen shows your face

I'm not quite sure what you classify as horrible as the images look pretty good to me and I do camera tests for a living.

Awful background music, like really rough, but good camera samples!!
Still the famous Samsung motion blur..

Well, it's a newer phone, so being better than the Fold3 is just a basic minimum. But it's definitely not a reason to upgrade from the 3 to the 4.
