Maybe the sand is too light lol I might just get a black case but different style cause tbh, idk if I'll be using the S Pen as much so I'll use the free case as a back up or if I feel like using it. I wish they have the Hard Case version for the folds. I really like that style of case. Ideally, I wish Rimowa makes a case for the folds, rather than Apple 😅

I think the biggest improvement might be the battery efficiency with the snap gen1+. Other than the slightly unnoticed picture quality between the 3 and 4 is not a wow factor... there is not much of a difference. I did put in my pre-ordered and trading in my S22 Ultra. I think with this 4th fold generation refinement it is now safe to say its time to move to a folding device.
I think these folding phones aren’t ready for mainstream most ppl don’t want to walk around with that thick bulky thing in their pockets . It’s not as durable as a regular phone and way more expensive
@@CashCollecta in terms of price I agree. I think that mainstream varies. Because of your target audience. Coming from a Note I would enjoy a phone like the fold. For others might be different. And in terms of bulk. I've seen people with Notes with a big case and it looks like they are holding a tablet. So it's objective. Because I don't rock cases ever on any of my phones.
@@CashCollecta I've used the Fold 2 since launch of September 2020 and I've had zero issues, even running in the rain despite not being water proof or water resistant! 2 years later and it's still running strong! I'm upgrading for the S Pen, newer cameras compared to the Fold 2 and they gave me a $1000 trade in bonus for my Z fold 2. So I'm really paying for a regular S22 at this point! I've been seeing more flip phones now days honestly in my area

The reason I watch tech most tech videos is specificly to get opinions from multiple "expert reviewers" in this space and to look at the product in motion from every possible angle until my actual unit arrives. They know what we came here to see so instead of giving us unnecessary fluff, how about they give us their actual personal opinion of the product showcased. Or opinion on things we can't get from written text. Trust me I've seen and are aware of all the technical specs well before this video. Like I said I specifically came to this video FOR HIS OPINION on the product.

I typically upgrade every year, but I just can't justify spending so much for such little improvements. I guess I'll hang on to my fold 3 for one more year.
I upgraded from fold 3.. can't stand the cameras. My sim card didn't go in it much. Checked out fold 4 at best buy and I saw a nice improvement. Can't wait!
After I get the fourth one when it comes out I will have owned all four. The first phone the one time I did go to the beach I kept it in a ziplock bag. Don't think I ever went to the beach with the second one but with the third one I went to the beach and be honest with you I wasn't even remotely worried about it. It survived multiple trips to the beach without any damage. The phone is not as delicate as people like to think it is
@@ptrexy there is a screen protector on the inside and the outside of the phone. They will both protect against light scratches but dust is nothing to worry about because why would it be and I'm not sure where you live but unless you're going to pick up a bunch of sand and drop it in your screen and like intentionally most people certainly aren't going to have a problem. Even when I was at the beach just a month ago I was using my phone and then it was just placing it in my bag when I was not. A few times I could hear sand in the hinge and I would just blow on it open and close it a few times and I was back to normal no issues screen was never damaged and she was never damaged. But you don't want sand in the phone but it has mitigation features in the hinge and they do it good job preventing sand from being able to get in from the edges of the screen itself
Great job on the video! The fold 4 in the UK arrives on August 26th. Upgrading from Note 20 Ultra 5g and really looking forward to the change. Waited 4 iterations and agree that if you have a Fold 3 then stick with it till the Fold 5 lands. As a heavy user and constantly watching TH-cam on my phone, I can no longer ignore that real estate. Love using my S pen and have used it since the early Notes. So this seems to have the best of everything I need and want. Just wish the S pen was housed in the phone but otherwise really looking forward to the change. Not bothered about the crease having seen my friends Fold 3. Great video buddy! Can't wait now 😃
Are you sure it's August the 26th because I was in vodaphone yesterday and he said he could have the fold 4 for me today if I ordered it there and then. I decided to come home and do some research as I couldn't stay on the same package they make you go up to the next one if you upgrade. Also said it included entertainment and then added £5 a month on top so would have been £72 a month. Definitely needs a lot of consideration before just jumping in. Ty
For the most average user, screen preview of your picture is a killer feature, most people aren't happy when some one else takes your picture, it really really helps

Plus, I agree with you - whilst I love the concept of the Fold, the cover screen is just too narrow for me, so I'm leaning towards the Flip. First impression is that- that crease is highly noticeable & someone trying to steal your phablet is going to find it easy to damage by just trying to run off with it
Interesting vid, I've just pre-ordered the Fold4/Watch Pro and I'm now getting jitters/buyer's remorse haha. Current phone is an S21 Ultra, I usually do a 2 year upgrade, but jumping a little earlier this time as I really like the idea of this phone. Half thinking I should've just gone for the S23 Ultra next year, but also excited to try something new. Vids like this are useful to see it (Fold4) used out in the wild.
I'm in the exact same scenario and decided to make the leap to the Fold4. I don't read into rumors and leaks too heavily but the current takeaway is that there isn't much difference compared to the s22 ultra. Regardless, here's to upgrading to a more innovative phone!
@@dcon8602 Samsung's colour science has been bad for years. It's not gonna change now, because at Samsung they like it. Only objective faults, such as autofocus bugs, will be fixed.
@@dcon8602 It's not just about the vibrancy. Samsung changes the entire scene. I took a picture of my yard on an overcast day. My plants and trees were covered in shadow and the sky was grey. My Fold 4 made the sky vibrant blue and made the plants vibrant green. It was a whole different scene. I don't mind a little saturation but that's just crazy.
I'm hyped to get this phone. My first fold phone coming from note 20 ultra. I had the ultra for years and been holding off on being a fold until this 4th Gen. Ps : this makes KIKDA miss NYC lol. Kinda..

I've been having this phone for the last 4 days. Here is a very brief summary of my experience so far: - Camera is not great. The colour science is horrible (grey sky is turned blue, etc) and the detail rendering is disappointing. Shots look oversharpened and yet lack detail compared to my P30 Pro. - Battery is sufficient. With the 'Light' performance profile and 5G turned off, the battery life is actually really good. - Phone is extremely smooth. One UI 4.1.1 + the new Snapdragon results in a great experience. Phone can heat up quickly tho. - The Under Display Camera is great! It's still easy to find if you're looking for it, but it blends in well and you don't notice it when watching a video. The camera quality isn't too bad either. It's horrible for selfies obviously, but really sufficient for video calling, which is its main purpose. - Speakers are okay. Don't get very loud, but sound is "full". - Cover display is great. Looks sharp, colour rendering is great and the improved aspect ratio leads to less compatibility issues with apps. - The new S Pen case is truly incredible. Finally a proper S Pen case for a Z Fold. This is the best foldable on the market right now. It might not have the best camera or battery as I've said, but the overall package is very complete. If you're considering a foldable, now is the time to step in.
@@Apezilla Not mediocre, but okay. They don't get very loud when playing music, so I can't really use them as a bathroom speaker (for when my JBL Xtreme 2's battery is empty). The loudness is about the same as my P30 Pro, but the sound quality is, of course, much better. The speakers are good for watching movies or playing games.
How would you say the cameras are on the Fold4 compared to 3? I'm a little worried how it's been shown repeatedly now that Fold4 pics look darker, more cold and lack warmth compared to the Fold3s warmer tones.
Pre ordered mine, Samsung gave me a trade of $1000 for my old Z fold 2! Can't wait for the new one, especially when they offered their new case with the S Pen as a bonus! Normally in go through best buy but they only offered $200 for my Z fold 2 😂 besides some scratches on the side its in great condition and still has the original screen protector, however it had bubbles now days so it's a hassle removing them every time I open the phone up!
@@Grr8jon normally best buy does pretty well, but lately they've dropped the bomb on me and the wife trying to upgrade. So never again, we don't upgrade every year but I'll definitely keep an eye on the future with their trading system! Can't really beat a $1000 credit towards a new phone. Did you also go with the extra storage ?
@@nartecurb it's been my daily since September release 2020! I've dropped it multiple times with and without a case and it's held up great. I don't baby it but I'm also not super rough. I've had it in the rain while running and no damage as well even though it isn't water resistant but I'm probably pushing my luck with that. Both screens have their original screen protector as well. However my interior screen protector has slowly gained bubbles in the middle where the phone opens up. So every time I wanna go in tablet mode I have to push the bubbles out. But at this point the bubbles are starting to reach deep in the screen and makes me wanna tear the protector off. But that's about the only negative I could find to tell you. Battery lasts me all day without battery saving mode. Phone rarely ever gets super hot even when playing game pass on it. I understand some folks have had worse experiences but I have had nothing but great experiences with mine. In reality I probably shouldn't have to upgrade but like I said earlier I'm probably pushing my luck with the rain and not being water resistant. Cameras are alright but compared to my wife's S22 they are decent lol not sure what else I could tell you, and I'm sorry if you wanted a shorter response but that's my take/experience with the Fold 2. I'm coming from a flip 3 and pre-ordered the fold 4, but was going back and forth if it was worth it because the stories I would read about the screen durability and battery life. This gives me confidence about the longevity of these fold/flip devices and getting me more excited for the fold 4. I will say that after using a folding device, it is so hard to go back to any type of slab phone.

Will i get a bigger scren when watching 16:9 youtube and netflix? Have now a s20+ and watch youtube in full screen fit zoomed horizontal. Or is it just bigger wile gaming an using other apps. Never seen anyone do a comparison like that.

I think battery life is not a major concern anymore. Now Qualcomm has sacked Samsung Fabs, we will see far better battery life going forward.

three is the ideal update rotation time 2 you wont see much of an upgrade. the most that i can see for next year is samsung adding an spen docking bay

That's s21 processing in the works. I too prefer it over s22 processing which fold 4 possesses
I own the Fold 4 and I hate the photos. The camera is the biggest downside of the phone. Samsung's colour science is awful.

@@dcon8602 Samsung's colour science has been bad for years. It's not gonna change now, because at Samsung they like it. Only objective faults, such as autofocus bugs, will be fixed.
@@dcon8602 It's not just about the vibrancy. Samsung changes the entire scene. I took a picture of my yard on an overcast day. My plants and trees were covered in shadow and the sky was grey. My Fold 4 made the sky vibrant blue and made the plants vibrant green. It was a whole different scene.
I don't mind a little saturation but that's just crazy.

I'm hyped to get this phone. My first fold phone coming from note 20 ultra. I had the ultra for years and been holding off on being a fold until this 4th Gen. Ps : this makes KIKDA miss NYC lol. Kinda..
I can actually see more detail in the Z Fold 3 low-light photo at 15:13 and at 15:24 the Z Fold 3 shot looks just as good as the Fold 4's.

I've been having this phone for the last 4 days. Here is a very brief summary of my experience so far:
- Camera is not great. The colour science is horrible (grey sky is turned blue, etc) and the detail rendering is disappointing. Shots look oversharpened and yet lack detail compared to my P30 Pro.
- Battery is sufficient. With the 'Light' performance profile and 5G turned off, the battery life is actually really good.
- Phone is extremely smooth. One UI 4.1.1 + the new Snapdragon results in a great experience. Phone can heat up quickly tho.
- The Under Display Camera is great! It's still easy to find if you're looking for it, but it blends in well and you don't notice it when watching a video. The camera quality isn't too bad either. It's horrible for selfies obviously, but really sufficient for video calling, which is its main purpose.
- Speakers are okay. Don't get very loud, but sound is "full".
- Cover display is great. Looks sharp, colour rendering is great and the improved aspect ratio leads to less compatibility issues with apps.
- The new S Pen case is truly incredible. Finally a proper S Pen case for a Z Fold.
This is the best foldable on the market right now. It might not have the best camera or battery as I've said, but the overall package is very complete. If you're considering a foldable, now is the time to step in.
Are the speakers as loud as the Fold 3?

@@Apezilla Not mediocre, but okay. They don't get very loud when playing music, so I can't really use them as a bathroom speaker (for when my JBL Xtreme 2's battery is empty). The loudness is about the same as my P30 Pro, but the sound quality is, of course, much better.
The speakers are good for watching movies or playing games.
How would you say the cameras are on the Fold4 compared to 3? I'm a little worried how it's been shown repeatedly now that Fold4 pics look darker, more cold and lack warmth compared to the Fold3s warmer tones.

Pre ordered mine, Samsung gave me a trade of $1000 for my old Z fold 2! Can't wait for the new one, especially when they offered their new case with the S Pen as a bonus! Normally in go through best buy but they only offered $200 for my Z fold 2 😂 besides some scratches on the side its in great condition and still has the original screen protector, however it had bubbles now days so it's a hassle removing them every time I open the phone up!
Samsung trade in value and goodies they bring along are undefeated. It is such a good deal. I went with them too.
@@Grr8jon normally best buy does pretty well, but lately they've dropped the bomb on me and the wife trying to upgrade. So never again, we don't upgrade every year but I'll definitely keep an eye on the future with their trading system! Can't really beat a $1000 credit towards a new phone. Did you also go with the extra storage ?
Have you been using the fold 2 exclusively till now? How has the it held up in terms of the screen and durability?
@@nartecurb it's been my daily since September release 2020! I've dropped it multiple times with and without a case and it's held up great. I don't baby it but I'm also not super rough. I've had it in the rain while running and no damage as well even though it isn't water resistant but I'm probably pushing my luck with that. Both screens have their original screen protector as well. However my interior screen protector has slowly gained bubbles in the middle where the phone opens up. So every time I wanna go in tablet mode I have to push the bubbles out. But at this point the bubbles are starting to reach deep in the screen and makes me wanna tear the protector off. But that's about the only negative I could find to tell you. Battery lasts me all day without battery saving mode. Phone rarely ever gets super hot even when playing game pass on it. I understand some folks have had worse experiences but I have had nothing but great experiences with mine. In reality I probably shouldn't have to upgrade but like I said earlier I'm probably pushing my luck with the rain and not being water resistant. Cameras are alright but compared to my wife's S22 they are decent lol not sure what else I could tell you, and I'm sorry if you wanted a shorter response but that's my take/experience with the Fold 2. I'm coming from a flip 3 and pre-ordered the fold 4, but was going back and forth if it was worth it because the stories I would read about the screen durability and battery life. This gives me confidence about the longevity of these fold/flip devices and getting me more excited for the fold 4. I will say that after using a folding device, it is so hard to go back to any type of slab phone.

@@piyushbuddhacharya3148 Franky the inner screen is working perfectly well but got green lines on the front screen after installing a botched software update from samsung.Cost me 10k to replace it and learnt a big lesson of not updating blindly.
Does the front screen come with a pre installed screen protector again like the previous folds ?
For the Fold4, the cover screen will not come equipped with a screen protector like the Fold3, Samsung will sell you one for $14.99
Will i get a bigger scren when watching 16:9 youtube and netflix? Have now a s20+ and watch youtube in full screen fit zoomed horizontal. Or is it just bigger wile gaming an using other apps. Never seen anyone do a comparison like that.
