you're still lucky, unlike me, I don't know why I was not hired, i was the only one applying.
It took him 7 years to graduate but placed 5th in the arki board exam 💯🤩 Louisian represent 🙋🏻♀️

7 years din ako sa Architecture. I failed my thesis twice. Sakit kasi pasado naman lahat, thesis lang talaga. Hahays. But this guy is an inspiration, hindi naman nakabase kung grumaduate ka on time or not, this is not a race, you will be successful in God's time 😀

My seven top tips for a portfolio are:
1. Use a nice font (nothing tacky)
2. Whitespace is your friend
3. Use a grid when laying out pages
4. Showcase all your best work (that means your portfolio should have sketches, photos of models, plans, sections, elevations, iso, axos, renders and diagrams).
5. Use good quality paper for the portfolio itself
6. Less is more (only show your best work)
7. Structure your portfolio through your projects from best to least best

@@FEISARCHASSISMK3 your welcome, the thought behind why we should put the our best first and our second best last is because our brain mostly summarize the journey based on the first impression and the last moment. If the summarized journey is good, you're good to go :)

I was studying civil engineering in highschool. Then I got a higher score than i anticipated on my Baccalaureat exam so I decided to study architecture since I was eligible for it. I hope that this is the best decision of my life.
I am more into Linguistics but this type of content is also essential as a person who fancies architecture and/or engineering. I have this best friend who just graduated in Architecture and I often helped her with her plates and thesis, so, with those, I gained a little knowledge about her field. Part of me wants to become an architect, or an engineer, perhaps.

What I love about it, it's not THE "FILIPINO ACCENT" that the media (especially foreign media) portraits this is the legit pinoy accent not the forced one

Architecture was my childhood dream, however I chose different course in college HAHAHA
watching this and your other vlogs made me realize that architecture isn't really easy but still its good to watch what are the things future architects will have to go through and I can't imagine myself in that situation. Kudos sir!

I just started watching your vids yesterday when you reacted to Lloyd Cadena's house. Now I subscribed already and can't stop watching 'cause it is so interesting and formative. Btw, I just graduated from senior high and my first choice was BS Architecture but the school I am attending to doesn't have that course so I ended up taking my second choice which is Civil Engineering. Love your vids!!!

School is about to start, I am a 5th year Architecture college student, I'm inspired with your contents, Architect! I am a bit anxious prior to my Thesis but I know I can do it. Thanks for being an Inspiration, Sir! More inspirations and projects to go for you!
I'm in my 9th grade and still deciding on what course I should take in the future, I really wanted to be an architect, but I still have these negative side of mine that makes me think to just take another course but I don't even have any other options... I'm really inspired of your videos Sir Llyan, you're my inspiration and I would proudly remember every single advices you have given to us future architects ❤️
You are still young. They say starting architects get paid less than construction workers. I'm about to finish my B.S. and in order to get a license you must complete your masters. I thought I'd be working by now, I have no real experience and my body of work is incredibly underwhelming. School has taught me so little, I feel like I am going to become one of those people who ends up with a degree that they never use and ends up doing something entirely different because it pays higher. I've heard too many horror stories from alumni who ended up back in school for different degrees. I'm not trying to deter you from the field, but don't have too high an expectation.
@@jasonpangtay1762 Is it that bad? I'm actually second guessing right now. I feel like I'm on the edge of something I'm not certain to go with. I'm in my last quarter of grade 12 and next month I'll be in college. I am thinking of pursuing architecture but I don't really see myself working for people as an architect. Building things is not my kind of things but I like arts. I'm still indecisive and I'm so stressed. I don't know what I really want it's kinda annoying sometimes that I can't find something I'm passionate about. Please help me.
@@blaresshooman2323 it's a priesthood if what I was told. If you don't think you can dedicate your life to it, if you don't absolutely love doing it, you should not go in.
@@blaresshooman2323 if you don't like building don't enter a field based around developing building. Arts maybe more interor designing, idk you play sims or like making lego houses or anything similar. Minecrsft even?
Seeing this made me remember my bitter past 😢😤 I wish my profs were like you back then. They would diss us real hard and act so hostile like why? 😣 I hated how they just tell us things were ugly and wouldn't even try to correct what's wrong. I wish they be more tempered and act professional sigh

I recently just finished my Year 2 Architecture Portfolio and I can definitely say I think I have what it takes after looking at yours. I'm really not as bad as I thought! Hahaha! I agree with you about portfolio showing a lot of process and context, there's no point putting a rendered piece of work if it doesn't show how you got to that final product. Your process sketches may look messy but there's definitely a way to make them look organised no matter how sketchy or messy they look. I really like the colour coding idea with the contents page and corresponding pages! I also agree that no matter how aesthetically pleasing a final render looks, it's still nice to include a description or a personal caption so the viewer knows the though process that went behind it or your final thoughts on the final look. Honestly though, I kinda like the spacing out of the pictures or renders with the white border like spaces in between, creates a good type of separation eg. your photography page with your neighbour's house ahaha! Love the models as well! Thanks for this video!
Im not even taking architecture, I'll be taking electrical engineering but I don't know why I'm here guess I just love seeing nice drawings and designs

Good pointers to anyone who just graduated (at any course) or to someone applying for new job on how to prepare their CV. Make sure your resume is not that usual one, as if you're filling out a P2.00 biodata. Kudos Llyan! Your mistake is now an opportunity LoL.
Watching this and seeing his portfolio made me realize that I was lucky enough to take a different course in college and graduated just on time because I don't think I could survive architecture. Thanks sir for your videos. I am learning. God bless. 😇

our graduation just cancelled due to covid i also got extended to 7 yrs on the course
but its all guchi got finished didnt waste a day not to explore new things in 3D rendering softwares studying new kind of skills that i can use

Interesting, thanks for this. From our perspective your portfolio looks extensive and probably too big - most offices are very busy and need to get a shorter overview. Also it must be expensive to reproduce and send out to companies? Would be good to keep it as a synopsis and you can always have more available if asked for. Thanks for your content!

People are gonna discourage you down the way but it’s one of the most rewarding degrees. Even the people in the program don’t understand the opportunities they have coming out of school. I’m still in my 3rd year going to my 4th but I learned a lot.

I learn so much that's why architects are essential to a build.
While interesting enough to keep me captivated without skipping to the end, what was with that "sucking" sound you made in closing out the video???
As for names being placed upon pages you are not alone. Most Architects that I've worked with over the past 25 years plaster their name on every sheet and document that comes out of their printers, plotters and software. Artists even sign over top of their work! They say its for copyright purposes but the reality is closer to ingrained psychological conditioning. If you don't want to spoil your presentation place your copyright name in the binding area.

Gandahn mo ung content layout ng resume mo, then portfolio, madalas hnhnap s atin ung pf, sa interview practice ng mga common questions, sa job nmm dpt alamin mo san mo b gusto, pede k kask mapunta s site, or office, pero if gusto mo ma explore and construction, mag site ka. Either site archi, or project-in-charge ang open n position.

In my opinion / or in my style:
1. It's too thick. There's no much time to see all of that. Keep it below 50
2. If you appllying, divide it on the projects not the output. Unless you just want to be a 3d artist / drafter.

Anyway, good content on your old portfolio! Just an advice for whoever read the comment, you can also organizing your portfolio by the projects, chronologically by the timeline or based on project you're very proud of to the least favorite. By that, we can see the whole design process and also see the elaboration between all drawings, renderings that you've done. Anyway, i love your channel, Llyan!
