I've scoured the net for proper, professional and detailed car reviews. Nothing beats the Autogefühl. No staccato pitches, well-informed, fact-based information and personal, but constructive criticism.
And the fact that you don't just review top-spec cars, really speaks volumes that this is for the car-user, buyer and enthusiast alike.
    Well done Thomas and team!!!

Hallo Thomas! Weiter so!

@Daniel Orozco Good question, there are several institutions checking this. In Germany its GTÜ and Dekra, worldwide JD Power is well known. And funnily, those reports ofter differ as some state test results in maintenance, some ask customers, etc. The Dekra Gebrauchtwagenreport is pretty good as they assess 15 Million test results for obligatory tests. Audi won 3 segments this year, BMW 1, Mercedes 1, as well as Honda, Ford, Volvo, Renault. It rather seems to me that you have to look at each segment and sometimes each car to really find out the reliability rather than saying "this brand". Overall, German cars have the best altogether result it the test.

My daughter drives a Ford Escape titanium with the 2.0 liter turbo. She likes it a lot and has not had any issues over the past 3 years. If I were in the market for a non premium compact SUV I might consider the VW Tiguan but the value equation favors the Japanese vehicles. And VW dealers here tend to not want to negotiate on price. And throw in reliability the Rav4 and CR-V are clear winners. PS a 1.4 L is too small for this size of car in my opinion.

By far one of the best reviews I have ever watched for a car.
I live in Hamburg and a few weeks ago, I have ordered my new Tiguan Highline - 4Motion - 190hP DSG as a company car, in Caribbean Blue. It will have offroad package, not that I will do offroad all the time but guess i like it better in look.
To be honest, i was thinking that the Caribbean Blue would be more sophisticated with some grey and green mix in it. This is because it was looking so nice in the configurator. But as far as I see from the video, i would call it simply blue :) However still looks very nice.
The wheel trims will be Victoria Falls 19'', which i think would bring even a stronger look. I will also have Top Paket and Discover Pro Navigation options that I am very much looking to test.
I am so much looking into driving my new car, and of course if you want to make another video about VW Tiguan again, i am available to share it :)
Thank you Autogefühl Team and Thomas
    All the best

Great detailed Review. "All other channels are fake news" - excellent! Agree with your comments on Apple Car Play, Side Assist and Lane Assist. Glad the 125hp engine performs ok - but I like the smooth 7-speed gearbox and this isn't available on the small engines. I prefer the LED-headlight grill with its extra silver horizontal lines. People ask if Ateca, Kodiak or Tiguan? Why not just get the real thing - ie Tiguan! You get more equipment choice and options (inc DCC, HUD) - its not too big, and you can get those really lovely seats and light-coloured interior you showed us with this Review. Many Thanks.

Hi Hamish! Yes, good to chat again! Agree - who could blame an Ateca owner for enjoying their nice car! We test drove an Ateca (a top-spec one), it was a lovely car, but the ride was too firm for us. I haven't sat in a new 3008 yet, but the Peugeot configurator says the 3008 GT is a well specced car. Us car and driving enthusiasts (!) will patiently await Thomas's forthcoming review to see what he thinks of the interior build quality; and if it has a smooth and quiet ride. Kind regards.

Thank you Thomas and Autogefühl team. Great video again. I have a question, would you choose Passat 1.4 TSI or Tiguan 1.4 TSI? I know those are two different segment cars. But still close in price. I drive a Passat, it's really quiet, smooth and relaxing car. I test drive a Tiguan but it was very short. Do you think Tiguan is as comfortable as Passat? Excellent review, as always, Thomas. I've been researching for a new car and Tiguan fits all the things I'm looking for. Unfortunately I'm in North America and they have not arrived yet. A little concerned about the vehicle quality coming out of Mexico vs. Germany. Would much prefer Germany. Have not seen any 5 seat LWB cars yet, and I wish the US would sell the same SWB as an option. With the Atlas, it seems redundant to have two 7-seaters. Some of us want a smaller SUV. I've also noticed the info-tainment display for North America will not have the buttons on the sides like the German vehicle. The German version of the Tiguan is perfect. I will have to see if the LWB is as nice and not too big.

Tomas, I would really like to know your opinion on which car manufacturer (premium or not) makes the cars that hold a better solid build over time, I mean which car brands tends to develop less rattling, cracky and squeaky noises inside the cabin (mainly from the dashboard).
I've been told that VW group is not very good executing that "long lasting solid build" .

I just bought a 150hp petrol DSG Highline two weeks ago. Over all I like the car but there are a few areas in which I am not happy.
I also test drove the Discovery Sports (small seats/cheap interior and it rides like it has stone tires!
The old Mazada CX5 which is better but still pretty hard.
I attended the new CX5 unveiling here in Japan and while I love how the new CX5 looks its interior is a disappointment with bad ergonomics, center armrest set too far back/small navi on top of the dash. Also they moved the A pillar back a few cms, together with a wide central console making the cockpit feel too claustrophobic. The rear also has small windows with a very high wheel arch intrusion, making entry and exit difficult.)
No 1. The ride. It has run flat tires and the ride is very bumpy unless the roads are smooth. Tires too hard? Suspension too sports car like I don't know.
No2. The gear box is fine on normal roads but changes down too quickly going uphill, especially at low speeds from 3rd to 2nd. I sent it back to the dealer to see if anything was wrong but they said it was fine! It isn't as I had two other loan cars a golf GTX and a Touran both with DSG and they were fine. ( I live on a small mountain so this is a daily annoyance)
No3. The parking sensors are pretty noisy and over sensitive.
No4. The car has keyless entry but only on the front doors. Not much use when I want to put shopping into the booth and fish for keys or go to the front of the car touch the handle and walk back to the back again. (first world problem I know but when they get so much right this should have been thought of too.
No5. The Navigation map is almost black at night with minor roads in a dark grey! Totally illegible!
As a mid level SUV it gets a lot right. Its safe/roomy/has comfortable seating/good ergonomics and well sized.
PS. As well as the above mentioned I test drove another 4 brands and have to say bar Citroen what is up with rock hard rides these days in family cars?? Sorry makers but not everyone drives daily on the Nuremberg Ring!
    Rant over....
Peace to all car loving brothers and sisters...!

    • @gordonbennett6057
      @gordonbennett6057 7 ปีที่แล้ว

+seamus lyttleton - Hello fellow car enthusiast! I agree about the importance of ride quality. A lot of people like a sporty ride, which is great! But the roads get less maintenance, the pot holes and sleeping policemen get bigger, and some cars get firmer suspension. You mention your Tiguan. I have only driven a Tiguan SEL 150 TDI 4WD 7-spd DSG with DCC (self-seal tyres, not-run-flats). With the DCC set to "comfort", at slow speed, the ride is quite good and compliant. Concerning the gearing, the diesel engine matches the DSG very well; on a steep incline it changes up smoothly just at the correct time, and you don't have to rev it. Could this be the different characteristics of a diesel and a petrol? Kind regards.

    • @wextavern
      @wextavern 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Gordon. My car doesn't have a comfort mode (wish it did) I can only change from Eco mode to normal to Sports. As regards the gearing. Before I picked up my car they lent me a Golf GTX for two weeks and I never even thought about the gearing or suspension (it was pretty good.) Upon driving my car for the first time and hence forth both myself and my wife agree that the suspension and inability of the gear box to correctly judge the correct gear vs speed and incline ratio is misjudged.
Under normal driving on flat rods local roads and highways it has performed really well. My car at least just doesn't like hills and mountains. We have since been putting the car into manual mode and are happy with that. But it kind of defeats the purpose of the DSG that we have to take control of the gearing.
As regards diesel and petrol unfortunately Volkswagen Japan doesn't import them.
      Much appreciate the reply.
      Thank you.

I really care about this one in particular cause I'm getting a new Tiguan(1.5 manual) and I'd like to know if the one you drove in this test got a dynamic steering or the standard servotronic. Asking around nobody gave me a decent answer since nobody knows(it seems to be very rare at least in Italy, the price as option is quite low but I don't like the idea I didn't try it). Maybe it get more sense if you get the drive profile selection too? Maybe it's not going to be very useful on a car like this with a low power engine and manual gearbox? I'm not familiar with your channel, so I'm not sure if you do comparisons, but if you do, I'd like to see a Tiguan 7 seater against a Kodiaq 7 seater.
I liked the design of the Kodiaq, despite it has some VW characteristcs, I like it being aparently wider and roomier than Tiguan (which is too narrow above the waistline, for my taste). Additionally, it has some smaller features which shows Skoda people think in minimal details for a better comfort for their car users, like umbrellas available in the doors, optional sunshades for back seat windows, a small rubber-plastic stuff that shows up when you open the door, that avoids doors from scratching or being scratched if the door hits a wall or another car when opening, and a rechargeable detachable lamp inside the boot, which could be very handy. I really liked those details, and they're apparently unexpensive to make available and so well thought that it's unlogical VW's SUV doesn't have such features.
So I'd like to see them compared side by side.

The 1.4 TSI with 150 PS is considerably better than the 125 PS version. The moment you load up the Tiguan with 4 folk you will notice it:- not so much when cruising at 75 mph but when entering traffic or overtaking. The 150PS with 4 adults has almost exactly the same power to weight as the 125 PS with just the driver. The Audi Q3 is arguably a better buy. The entry level has a higher spec than the Tiguan and it is very little more expensive. In fact the Q3 almost seems to be priced wrongly (in the U.K.)
