Feature 4 - closing all four windows DOES work, you just need to pull BOTH driver and passanger buttons up simultaneously😉 2018 VW Touran Czech Republic
You can also do it from the remote - with some windows open when locking the car, keep the lock button pressed on the remote until the windows have fully closed.
Or generally if you're are in your car you have keys with you, you can press longer the lock button, and all open windows will close from themselves... It worked on a 2003 touran when I had this car a few years ago ;) You can also click on the unlock button to open them all
The rearview camera cleaner blew my mind. I'm about to go check and see if my 2018 Tiguan has this feature too! The amount of times I've had to get out and clean my camera off due to salt and dirt being on it.
You can adjust the trunk door height to your favor by lifting the door to the height you like and press the trunk door button and wait till you hear beep tone and light ring/flashing twice and it’s reset.
I love how if you have your cruise control on and your vehicle approaches one in front of you it will slow down on its own and once you get out away or switch lanes it goes back to the set speed you had ♥️
We have all these great features in our vehicles, but most of us either didn't get the tutorial when we bought, or can't recall the details/find the hidden menu- etc. Thanks for posting!
I’m in love with this car❤️❤️❤️ I went to a VW dealership and I mentioned the rear camera spray on the Tiguan and he had no idea he had to go and check! LOL. I was wondering what do you get on a basic trim do you get folding mirror/ blind spot/ rear camera sprayer and sunroof?
No name No you only get the folding mirrors on the SEL I believe and rear camera spray should be standard. Sunroof I THINK... started at the SE trim in 18
Great video. Not gonna lie, I’ve considered switching from my Audi S3 to a SEL Premium R line a few times. Gets you practicality and really sharp looks. Interiors are really nice looking too.

I’ve shortlisted the Skoda Karoq and have just started looking at the Tiguan. Your list of clever features emphasises how well thought out this car is, as is its cheaper SKODA stablemate. While the Karoq is a decent looking car and costs less, I prefer the looks of the Tiguan. Guess I’m going to have to take a closer look at both of them and test drive them both. Thanks again and keep up the great work with your excellent videos! 👍🙋🏻♂️
Vikram Kalra Nothing so far! 🤷🏻♂️ Our family workhorse - a Citroen Berlingo - is still going strong, having done about 125,000 miles, and my wife has made it clear that when we replace it, she doesn’t want anything fancy or high tech - just another utilitarian workhorse with a boxy load space that can carry everything we’d ever want to transport in it. She owned a horrible (in my view, anyway...) Renault Kangoo before that, which she absolutely loved, and if they still made them, she’d have been more than happy to buy another one... ☹️ I’ve tried to educate her about cars, but she seldom takes advice. When she bought the Berlingo, for example, she sat in it in the dealer showroom, and then decided to buy it straight away, without even test driving it! 🤦🏻♂️ It’s actually proved to be a great family car - spacious inside, with a huge load space, and it’s enjoyable to drive, economical, surprisingly nippy, and has served us extremely well for some years now, but she didn’t know any of that when she decided to buy it. We just got lucky on that occasion... I’ll have to start looking again soon, now that the mileage on it is high enough that maintenance is bound to become expensive soon. Good luck with your own purchasing decision. 🖖😎
@@the5thmusketeer215 I sure am very confused whether to go with a Tiguan despite all the issues people talk about it as per Consumer Reviews. How do you save the driving mode and driver assist settings? They appear to return to default when the car is switched off. Having to re-input on every journey is annoying.
I have a 2019 Tiguan and LOVE it! I cannot get the windows to close from the outside! I did exactly what you said and no luck! I love being able to walk up to the locked car and putting my hand on the handle and just my door unlocks!
What snow chains do you recommend for this car ? I was told the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains for SUVs and Crossover Vehicles - XG12 Pro are the best
Hey - great vid. Do you know how to get the Tiguan to lock automatically when you walk away from the car? I cant work out how to do it and just end up brushing my hand against the door handle to activate the locking
There’s such a feature and I have it. It works only after you engage delayed closing the trunk and walk away, making it close. But it requires some coding job.
If you set your favourite radio station on the centre screen, can you change these channels with the controls on the steering wheel ? Great videos most informative 😊😊
Excellent tutorial, thanks a million! Does this apply to each Tiguan trim? Also what about "Remote Engine Start with Climate Control, accessible via your smartphone" like Subaru Forester has.
Hi there, I have just bought the 20 plate Tiguan in the UK. I was wondering if it was possible to turn off the huge compass/direction on steering wheel the dash, not the display board in the middle. If you know if his is possible please enlighten me. Many Thanks Dave in Devon. UK.
You can, the electronic version of the manual will guide you through that quite nicely, BTW, I'm in Plymouth, Devon! Also, try taking a look at this, th-cam.com/video/k7w1evO30VU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BoHkMwjNAJn4lrC5
Not sure of anyone covered this but if you push the memory seat preset first while you are getting in an don’t Put the key in ignition they should go to the preset with one push not having to hold the memory button ?? Maybe my old tiguan does an my old Audi both
As a VW Salesperson I have run into problems with number 4 quite a lot. Turns out that feature is standard programming on European models and has to be integrated into American models system with the help of a VW technician. Hope this helps!
it's amazing how the German car manufacturers can come up with all these innovative little gadgets that the cars do...but they can't make their cars go a 100k miles trouble-free? I would give up all these little knick-knack gadgets for reliability any day 👍 (previous VW GTI owner here).
@@justindtackett Weather sealing issues? Like what? I know there are issues with the sunroofs or panoramic roofs, but haven't heard much else. These cars now a days are pretty reliable, its just the canbus systems and all the control modules go crazy after many years. That is for most makes now, not just VW. On my MK6 GTI in the 5 1/2 yrs I had that before I bought my MK7 only issue I had was a seeping water pump gasket. That was replaced under warranty. Only issue I had. The MK7 has been fine, I did have a blender door solenoid begin to click on me, replaced under warranty. Chalk that one up to crappy roads and 40 series tires the 2 just don't go hand and hand. haha
To open and close windows and sunroof using the keyfobs, you will need to change the coding using the VAGCOM software, just one little tweak. That's the same for many VW models, dating back probably 10+ years.
hey there guys my 2018 R - line put the window back up as well as closes the sunroof again when you hold the drivers window switch in the closing position
Front wipers must be on to get the rear wiper to activate automatically in reverse (unless you have rain sensing wipers). Didn’t mention that but it should be common sense.
Good point, if the day is sunny, the rear wipers should not spray and wipe. Only in rainy day when using front wipers than put reverse will automatically wipe rear windows.
Thats good, I was thinking about that. The last thing you want to do on a clear day with a freshly washed car is have wiper fluid sprayed all over the back each time you reverse.
Not really an exclusive Tigger trick, however very handy to know. Couldn't start mine the other day, realised that the key fob battery had expired :-( The battery (CR2025) is inexpensive, dead easy and super quick to replace yourself (lots of TH-cam videos for that). Local dealer in Sydney would charge $$ to do that, but hey who wants to make VW richer.... no one haha.
I have been a VW guy since was 13 and I am 45 now and they are getting worse every year . My best year is my mk4 337 GTI . But all this fancy crap they need to stop and start addressing and correcting known failures
Someone may have put it in the comments but another feature for the 2019 Tiguan SEL Premium R Line is the reverse mirror feature. It's not normally turned on in your menu but once it's turned on, when you go in reverse, your mirror will tilt down so you can see the curve while backing up, then once you put it in drive, it goes back up to the drive setting. Pretty cool.
To open the windows using the key: ensure that the function is active on the vehicle. Secondly, press and hold down the unlock button on your key, after a few seconds, the window(s) will open automatically. To close, press and hold the lock button on your key and after a few seconds, the window(s) will close.
These features are all cool, no doubt about it...I love how modern cars allow you to actually change many of the things your mind is saying "I wish it would do this" or "wish there was some way to change that", but I fear for reliability nightmares 5, 8, 10 years down the road, especially on cars that must be parked outside and subjected to many hot/cold/rain/ice cycles over the course of its normal life. None of this is really a concern for people who switch cars every 3-4 years, but those of us who like to get a better part of a decade out of our purchase would be better served with another brand that isnt VW. This is coming from an owner of a 2016 GTI so its not an anti-VW bias, just good sense. (My car is garaged nightly, but also up for sale currently)
For number three, memory seat positions, if the driver door is open, you might not need to hold the memory button down. Just presss and release. Once the door is closed and or ignition is on, you have to hold it down. 2021 atlas.
If you not in the car and you forget one window open just push lock button in remote key and hold it for 3-4 seconds so all windows will closed with panorama also .. same you push and hold unlock button for 3-4 seconds all window will go down ( good in summer and hot time to let air go out ) .
You might try see if you can’t do that remotely with a fob. So you’d press the unlock once then press and hold. You might even be able to close with do the same thing on the lock button.
Hey - I have a 2020 VW Tiguan in USA, but I believe it's the base model. What's the deal the back hatch? I have to manually pull it up, the button on Key Fob doesn't work??
Rolling the windows up or down will not work just by pressing that option on the info screen. You have to activate it through obdeleven and then you can use your key fob to open and close all windows
I used to press long press on the fob close button .will close all windows and sunroof .and same if u hit open long press..will open all things up.i used to do so with old passat 2008 .not sure about Tiguans.
I made this video demonstration way back in 2016! It’s not as prevalent of a feature now! 2016 Volkswagen Passat: ParkAssist Demo th-cam.com/video/JWEpjuOPxK8/w-d-xo.html
The rear wiper only goes automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse if the wiper stalk is set in intermediate mode. And the seats move into your position if you program them to each driver.
My wife has the reverse windshield wiper option in her 2019 tiguan se 4 motion but it does not work when put into reverse. The option is selected in the settings. Is there another option to get it to work?
Hold unlock all on key fob all windows will open then to close hold the close button on your fob. Good luck mine is late 2020 so not sure if that’s different.
Do you need to have the SEL Premium trim for Driver Personalization (#3)? I am buying a 2019 SEL and like the idea of being able to set my preferences in case someone else drives the car.
@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville True...the SEL Premium comes with memory seats along with features like heated steering wheel, active blind spot, and folding mirrors. While I would really some of these (especially the blind spot change) it is really not worth an extra $3-4K. However, if I can attach driver personalization to a key fob that gets me 90% of the way there. I am looking forward to taking delivery of my SEL this week but really think that VW missed the mark on this on some of these safety features. The upgraded Fender audio is a nice touch, but that should be available as a separate package IMO.
Dont't know if this is simplier or more complicated? Normally cars were simple to drive - but nowadays it is more and more things to keep in mind. You have to learn new things all the time. All this automatic things ? For instance it happens I want to move the car by hand, pushing it. Or when I change from summer to winter tyres, I want to check the ball bearings by rotating the wheels. I don't want to have the parking breaks automaticly. And all these machines that do all thiis - they can malfunction. And thiis with personalization of drivers - can it automatic also change language in information? These menues - they think they make it easier - but is it really? So much to learn for each car..
I have 2019 Tiguan Allspace and no.4 I can do by holding "unlock" on key fob (you have to press it and keep holding) - opens all windows and opens roof a bit. And "lock" to close all windows (does not work on the roof).
@@pacoboss6865 I think that the feature is deactivated by default. It was deactivated on my 2017 Tiguan. I had VW dealer enable it while my car was in for ordinary service.
Does this vehicle have an easy exit feature? I didn't see it when I drove it but the girl said she "thinks" it might be available in the seat memory feature?
there's nothing new about any of these - my 2005 Golf TDI Comfortline, and my 2009 Tiguan have all of these as standard (in Australia), except for the reverse camera spray as neither had/have a VW reverse camera. All windows should go up when holding down the lock button too. .. *and here's one you may not know about* - If you've parked your car on a stinking hot day, and left it for a few hours, with all the windows up, when you return, you may see the driver's window cracked open about 1" - that's right, the car winds it down just enough to equalise the inside/outside air temps. Again, my 2005 Golf & 2009 Tiguan do this. I've read that should the car detect rain via its rain sensor, it will close it, though I haven't tried this out.
would this be the same thing for the 2019 tiguan se model? Also i have a trunk button on my key ,but it doesn't do anything. When i press on it the trunk light just blink. Is the trunk suppose to open up when i press it? And is there a trunk release button inside the car?

Another trick is you can make a pillow shoot out of the steering wheel by slamming into something.
Remember to remove glasses (sunglasses or driving spectacles} when doing this or the glass will mess up your face

If it’s a base model it most likely won’t have a power lift gate...if it has a button on the key fob it may just unlock the trunk specifically
Is there a way to leave the back up camera on while driving ?
Rolling the windows up or down will not work just by pressing that option on the info screen. You have to activate it through obdeleven and then you can use your key fob to open and close all windows
I used to press long press on the fob close button .will close all windows and sunroof .and same if u hit open long press..will open all things up.i used to do so with old passat 2008 .not sure about Tiguans.
This car is a beauty
How do you replace your hazard switch on the 2018 comfortline
Have you created any Park Assist Video for self park in parking lot ? Also need to know about Front Assist how it works.
I made this video demonstration way back in 2016! It’s not as prevalent of a feature now!

@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville Thanks
Can you record a demo video on adding a digital clock to 2019 SEL Tiguan cockpit please?
I’ll try to mess with it tomorrow and I’ll link it here if I can figure it out
Wow! Well, I feel silly having my Tiguan for a year and not knowing this! Thanks!
Glad I could help, Ken!😆
The rear wiper only goes automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse if the wiper stalk is set in intermediate mode. And the seats move into your position if you program them to each driver.
All these features are available for r-line 2019? Cause i got tiguan higline 2019 but i can not find a few features for example “personalization”
My wife has the reverse windshield wiper option in her 2019 tiguan se 4 motion but it does not work when put into reverse. The option is selected in the settings. Is there another option to get it to work?
To put all the windows up if you roll them down in the car and hold the lock button on the car key the red light will flash and they will roll up
to put up and close windows and sunroof once exiting the Tiguan. Hold your finger on the keyless door lock button for more that 3 seconds
Good video. But is there any way to open or shut windows using key fob? Been trying, but doesn’t work. 2019 Tiguan Highline btw. Thanks.
You can open them with the key fob, but you have to use a certain 3rd party solution to be able to close them with the fob.
@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville Yea looks like I have to sort it out at my dealer. Thanks a lot!
Thank u.
Hold unlock all on key fob all windows will open then to close hold the close button on your fob. Good luck mine is late 2020 so not sure if that’s different.
What’s better Lexus 300nx or a Tiguan 19 sel?
Do you need to have the SEL Premium trim for Driver Personalization (#3)? I am buying a 2019 SEL and like the idea of being able to set my preferences in case someone else drives the car.
If I’m not mistaken, the SEL has the Driver personalization but it does not have the memory seats!
Does the Tiguan SE have the seat memories?
No only the SEL or Highline models have the memory seat selection
And "lock" to close all windows (does not work on the roof).
same as my Q5, just hold and it opens
Thats not a feature open for use on US versions of the Tiguan. You have to use vagcom to code and access it.
How to do it properly? I do not manage to do it.
Can I update the firmware for the infotainment system on my 2018 Tigun? I know i can get map updates..
my 2019 tiguan FOB batteries keep getting drained. What can I do besides replacing the battery once a week? thx
would this be the same thing for the 2019 tiguan se model? Also i have a trunk button on my key ,but it doesn't do anything. When i press on it the trunk light just blink. Is the trunk suppose to open up when i press it? And is there a trunk release button inside the car?
all that trunk button does on that model is when your car is locked it unlocks just the trunk. your trunk is a manual trunk
Hold it until trunk opens, should work
Most of these features are not in the S or SE models.
rear cam wash is amazing and helps....
thanks.
