    My favourite part of this video is that you have your phone duct taped to your vacuum cleaner :^) 3:29

    Phone duct taped to vacuum. Gotta do what ya gotta do to get the video out. I appreciate the effort.

    Pretty amazing! How much did everything cost, all told?

    • @Breakfast_and_Bullets
      @Breakfast_and_Bullets  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been a long time since I did this, but I want to say it was less than $100. Definitely less than $200.
      It would still be fun today, but with printers being as cheap as they are, it's probably not as useful. Might as well get an Ender 3 for the same cost.

      @@Breakfast_and_Bullets I live in Paraguay where I pay $25kg per kilo for shipping, so it’s still an attractive alternative. Thank you for the response!

    Thanks for the video! I am mid printing all this stuff, but still one question remains. How does the wirering work? Do I need to modify anything with the motherboard or is it just "plug and play"? Any answer or help with this would be much appreciated.

    • @Breakfast_and_Bullets
      @Breakfast_and_Bullets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is plug and play, as long as you extend the wires to reach everything.

      @@Breakfast_and_Bullets Hey again! I am still a bit confused (and sorry for my lack of knowledge). How did you replace the connectors? Did you change the jst of the original wires? My new bed's wires doesn't look at all as the ones on the stock bed (both ends look as the connector to your board).
      I am just so stoked to get this working, but I all this electricity makes me wish I've listened in school :D

      @@koddaz I just spliced them in. I cut off the wrong connector and attached the correct connector. I recommend using a NASA splice (also called a "lineman's splice").
      Thermistors are not polarized, but the bed is. Pay attention to markings on the bed and the mainboard.

    Does this work for the v2

    • @Breakfast_and_Bullets
      @Breakfast_and_Bullets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely yes, but I can't say for sure. They may have put soft endstops into the V2 firmware. If you want to test that, try making it move farther than the print bed volume and see if it stops itself.

    Does this printer still run on 12v?

    The Mini is just SO modifiable, isn't it? Though, I gotta be honest: I'd probably just buy a new printer, haha.
    BTW, I saw an article about a university experiment where they installed a rotating plate on a Mini. Pretty danged cool.

      It was my first printer, as a Christmas gift. I wanted more, so I did what I could. It served me well until I got a proper machine like the Ender 3

      You can pick them up for $50-$100 now so why not! Lol
      I’d also already have one so it will be cool to modify this robust little machine 😁

    Wow, no comments. Probably getting ahead of myself... though awesome to see your design. I basically just got a new used MPSM V2 where the only issue was not being able to use the SD card, at least in their Apple device use. The new filament came in the mail today so will do some calibration and print testing next. Will keep in mind the extension for a future design plan. Thanks for sharing! Great video detailing too.
    I was pondering doing something like this video if I ever need a longer print capabilities: th-cam.com/video/GSChQy6ZM8A/w-d-xo.html
    Guessing by that time, I'll custom build a new printer.

      Dude, Luke's machine is fantastic. I met him at MRRF (funny story there, but I won't force it on you) and he showed off this machine. Love his work, brilliant young man.
      Good luck with your Mini, I hope it serves you well! I still use this same machine from time to time!

      @@Breakfast_and_Bullets Thanks again. Figured travel, COVID restrictions, costs at the local or regional spaces or labs if even open ever inspired investing in my first 3D printer as a reference to compare and build with versus making one first..., the way to go. $120 in so far with a brand new just delivered today 1kg spool of Hatchbox 0.03 tolerance filament. Not forcing anything... feel free to share all you wish. :-|)

      @@Breakfast_and_Bullets Stoked I just found that the rubber gripped rollers from the rescued free officejet printers stainless steel rods were mostly 6mm dia. with one being 5mm. th-cam.com/video/xw-XE0qxbxU/w-d-xo.html
      Was thinking was only going to be able to use the 8mm stainless steel rods that the newer printers only have one and some newer ones don't even use.
