Imagine being a 15 year old guitarist hearing this when it slammed into North America in 1971. The composition and genius of this arrangement stunned us all. A very real time for musical discovery while the Vietnam War ground our souls day after day. It was magic.
I don't have to imagine it. I bought this album the day came out. It's hard to describe in words what it was like back then. There was wave after wave of never-before-heard styles of music. They just appeared like magic out of nowhere. It was visceral you could feel it, brand new nothing like it ever before. I said it was difficult to put into words cuz I still haven't done it.
Back in 71 I can still see myself sitting in front of our stereo with headphones on. I thought this was the most astonishing piece of music. The guitars were the most beautiful I ever heard.

It’s deff Top 5. It’s the best from Led, but you also have Queen, The Who, The Beatles, AC/DC, and the likes of Pink Floyd. There’s so many bands that have beautiful songs. It’s so hard to narrow it down to which is just the best. Yes in the digital era you can look at the streams and how many likes and dislikes or look at total record sold since release, but it’s more then just that. It’s what the song means to the individual listeners. With each band having such a wide spread fan base across multiple generations it’s makes it nearly impossible in all honesty to say one song is the best. Now don’t @ me saying I hate this song. That’s is FAR from the truth. This is in my top 25 played, and I binged Skrillex in High School and Broadway come college. Just my two cents.
One of the things I really love about Stairway is that you go through that whole first part of the song without even missing the drums, then they come in and turn the song into practically a whole other genre of music. Just layer after layer, each one taking you a little further along. It's a cliche, but this song really takes you on a journey.
There’s something great about seeing others enjoy and appreciate something that you do. That’s why these reaction channels are so popular. It brings us together somehow.
You nailed it. We are now getting a second vicarious kick watching JV introduce others to what he has heard. It's also interesting that he has obviously come to love this stuff so much that he thinks he's got to get others to go through the same process of discovery that he went through.
As many times as I have heard "Stairway," it gives me a completely different appreciation watching other music aficionados reacting to it. Glad I found this video.

One of the greatest songs ever. Led Zeppelin is one of the most iconic bands in rock history. I can’t remember ever hearing a bad song of theirs, I don’t think it exists. Great reaction, thank you very much.
Jimmy Page played his famous twin neck guitar on this track. Top neck was a 12 string, lower, a 6 string. Absolute British rock masterpiece and anthem. Loved Zep got the best part of 45 years now.
Watching Jovaughn introduce his bud to Stairway to Heaven was literally a thrill. I had chills. Like hearing it for the 1st time all over again after 50 years. Tremendous! 😎❤️❤️
He really was one of the greatest composers of the century, too. Think about all the guitar parts he wrote, original stuff like this. He wrote so many guitar riffs and songs that no one can say he ripped off from blues legends. Led Zeppelin I and II were full of blues riffs and lyrics from the blues masters but the rest of their catalog is amazingly original and creative. Legendary.
1. Jimmy Page - One of the best guitarists in Rock history. 2. John Paul Jones - One of the best Bassists in Rock history. 3. John Henry Bonham - One of the best Drummers in Rock history. 4. Robert Plant - One of the best vocalists in Rock history! 1+2+3+4= One of the best bands in Rock history!
Robert Plant still sounds amazing now and has used all the voice he has in so many excellent ways. And Jimmy Page, is one of, if not the best guitarist I’ve ever heard. I’d highly suggest purchasing this album in its entirety.

Imagine being a 15 year old guitarist hearing this when it slammed into North America in 1971. The composition and genius of this arrangement stunned us all. A very real time for musical discovery while the Vietnam War ground our souls day after day. It was magic.
Back when music was carefully produced, naturally. Every note perfectly refined.
@@robertacolarette1594 I'm down with you. I wish I could find the words to describe what we experienced then. This stuff that had never been created before came pouring out of the radios in the music stores daily, wasn't it fabulous. This music came to us like ether from nowhere. Peace sister.
Wasn't it 1973, at least?
I was blessed to have had two older brothers and I saw LED ZEPPELIN LIVE IN CONCERT! It makes me feel so happy to see someone listening to one of Rock &Rolls Greatest Athems for the first time. I smiled when they smiled it was like going back to 1971 again. Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page were LED ZEPPELIN! LED ZEPPELIN'S SOUND WAS ALL THEIR OWN IT TOOK YOU PLACES AND MADE YOU FEEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT EACH AND EVERYTIME YOU LISTEN TO ONE OF THEIR SONGS. THESE YOUNG MEN NEED TO LISTEN TO ZEPPELIN'S WHOLE CATALOG LIKE, "BLACK DOG" "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE" ROCK&ROLL"" THE RAIN SONG"" THE OCEAN "ECT... 👏✌️
ENOUGH SAID!!! ✌️
About halfway in, I was thinking "Buckle up buddy, you're about to be blown away!"
Exactly what I was thinking.
🤣👍
I love this song !!!!!
Yes, it has been played a lot... but it has been played a lot for a reason. One of the greatest rock songs, if not the greatest, of all time.
My Era of music and this is one of my three all time favorites after all these years. This was released in 1971... fifty years ago!
This has been voted by critics as the greatest rock song ever, more than once.
Close to the Edge by Yes is my favourite.
I'm so glad that was before I was born so the radio didn't kill it for me!
One of the things I really love about Stairway is that you go through that whole first part of the song without even missing the drums, then they come in and turn the song into practically a whole other genre of music. Just layer after layer, each one taking you a little further along. It's a cliche, but this song really takes you on a journey.
It's my therapy song, in the car, full blast, with or without grandkids in the car. Lol
It's taking you further step by step while being called "STAIRWAY to heaven" 😅
I believe the slow build up is what makes it so great and powerful. As it builds I slowly turn the volume up more
Bang on the halfway mark.
Thats why it is the best song ever.
Makes my heart smile to see younger people get into the great music that I grew up with. Keeps it going🤗
So wonderful...my senior class song in '72 and these guys are wild about my all-time favorite, SRV...privileged to have seen him in Austin
Lem: I'm waiting for it to pick up.
Me internally: You're going to be waiting for about 8 minutes. lol.
😁😁
😂 it’s a journey
So funny watching you, watching him, like we watched you 😂😂😂
@Luna Raven I'm the one running late today....😁🙏
There’s something great about seeing others enjoy and appreciate something that you do. That’s why these reaction channels are so popular. It brings us together somehow.
You nailed it. We are now getting a second vicarious kick watching JV introduce others to what he has heard. It's also interesting that he has obviously come to love this stuff so much that he thinks he's got to get others to go through the same process of discovery that he went through.
Sweeeeet Caroline, Bah Bah Bah!
It is like reliving the first time you heard it through someone else. I'm sure my dad was like that the first time I heard this.
As many times as I have heard "Stairway," it gives me a completely different appreciation watching other music aficionados reacting to it. Glad I found this video.
Me too !!
I enjoyed it immensely, watching two guys get their first taste of it, and really give themselves a chance to dig it. This was super duper entertaining to me, quite fulfilling as well.

Yes!! Same here.
Same here!
Am I jealous of him listening to this for the first time!!! Led Zeppelin have been in my life for over 50 yrs 🙆♀️❤️🙏
I am Latino, and never in my life heard of Led Zep, let alone Stairway To Heaven but man, when I heard it in my late 20s.... God Damn!!! Glad to see this generation is discovering and passing out timeless music!
Have you seen videos of Rodrigo y Gabriela doing an acoustic version of Stairway to Heaven? Amazing… went viral and they ended up on Letterman.
@@genny5309I was curious, so I checked out Rodrigo y Gabriela and their cover of Stairway. Didn't think you could do justice to Stairway without the vocals, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good suggestion.
@@kurtloptien185 I’m glad you enjoyed it. Most of their music is original. I’ve seen them 4 times in concert. They’re incredible guitarists.
“It’s gonna pick up, though, right?” 😆😆😆😆
Understatement of the century 😂
When the drums kick in, I get goosebumps.
o boii little did he know
I laughed out loud when he said that lol
Bwahahahahaha 🤣🤣 it picked up just a wee bit
When Led Zeppelin did a reunion concert there were 15 million ticket requests. Still the most requested concert ticket in history.
I had tickets and my boyfriend and I broke up I had the tickets but because I’m not a huge bitch I gave them to him..I wish now I was a bitch and went my damn self…😭😭😭😭
@@NyxandMomLive OMG. You’re an angel. I could NEVER.
I believe this is the concert that had 20,000 tickets available, but 20 million people tried to get tickets.
@@carolinamoraga8351 thank you he told me it was awesome the redeeming part was he took his paraplegic friend and they were given even better seats. My uncle was so pissed off at me for given up those tickets.
more than 20 million actually
Younger people reacting to this song is so sweet. Also, the confidence to wear a kitty on his shirt is all you need to know about how cool these guys are.
My partner has a similar shirt, and the kitty is flipping the bird. ;) I'm not absolutely certain that's also the case with this guy's shirt...but it's my guess. :D
This is actually widely considered the greatest classic rock song of all time
It probably is, Stairway, Hotel California, Bohemian Rap and Freebird seemed like the stations played them every other song. How many times you heard on all these songs "turn it up I love this song " for the 459th time.
I doubt these guys didn't already know that.
Not anymore, have you seen the latest Rolling stone magazine 2021? It's sad
@@jseight279 I said widely considered. It doesn’t mean no. 1
It’s the one as a 20 year old that really started it all for me. Top 3 classic. I put it up there with sweet child o mine and separate ways as the true songs that got me into classic rock.
I absolutely love when people hear something they wouldn't normally listen to and can appreciate it. Ya'all put a smile on my face.
So nice to see two beautiful smiles appreciating Zeppelin. I remember getting home from high school after sports practice, going to my room and setting my books down and dropping on my bed as I listened to Zeppelin. It's a great song to unwind to. Take care and be well, guys. Peace.
Led Zeppelin, the classic metal band. Stairway to Heaven, the classic metal song.
If you haven't experienced Led Zeppelin before, there's still time to change the road your on!
EDIT....."you're".... (not "your")....sorry English teachers!
When the levee breaks you will have many great songs to listen to.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be Led Zeppelin.
What’s really cool about this song is how it progresses upwards, at an ever increasing tempo, almost as if the music itself is a stairway to Heaven, the music getting evermore exciting as it escalates to a high and mighty crescendo.
And increasingly layered.
Yep, page intentionally did that for the exact reason u mentioned. :)
You got it
@@jamezkpal2361 As Jimmy intended....
My man!.... " If its good music, its good music, it don't matter." We need more of this in this world we are living in today.
Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band of all time. The chemistry of these four will never be equaled. Although this may be one of their best, they have 10 albums of work just as amazing. Truly EPIC.
Every high school dance in the 70’s and 80’s ended with this song. Great song to dance to, believe it or not.
It was Knights in white satin round our way.
@@knowlesdental7865 Yes, another amazing piece as well!
My junior prom's theme was Stairway to Heaven. We rocked all night long!
Truth
Wow that's really cool. I went to campground dances in my teens ended with this song. I didn't know it was traditional before that.
Saw them in 1977 at the Capitol Center in Landover, Maryland. I had a choice for my high school grad present...car or Memorial Day weekend with tickets for 2 shows. Of course I chose the concert!!! I still ended up with a 1970 Pontiac Tempest. Best concert I've ever witnessed! Played for 4 hours and I will never forget one minute of it!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!
Diane! My girl, that is so frickin legendary! I would have made the same choice!!!!!!
Saw That same show at capitol center around 76 or 77. I think the tickets where @ $12.50
Perfect choice ..that experience is Priceless!!! 😁.A car is a dime a dozen
Oh the good times at the Cap Center and RFK. But would almost trade them all in for that 77 Zep show. It was 77 I believe.
Class of '77 - Rock on!
I’m 64 years old and still love this song. Glad to see these two guys like some Led Zeppelin!
I am 68 I loved this then and love now, robert plant has an amazing voice and he makes you feel the lyrics and i always have a lump in my throat when I hear it.x
Now play Kashmir
Grew up listening to this. Hard to realize how much time has passed that younger people have never heard such an iconic song/band.
Timeless…. this song brings tears to my eyes and makes my hair stand up on end!! 50 years later it still moves me. Live version at MSG is a masterpiece.
Does anybody remember laughter?
Me too, brother. Every single time.
@Jorge Gonzalez the MSG version is my favourite! Gives me goosebumps, gets me everytime I hear it.
@Jorge Gonzalez timeless indeed…
Me too!!
"Good music is good music, does not matter the genre." The best statement of the year. Thank you for making it. LIKE!
To see the smile on your faces when Jimmy page begins that oh so famous solo is priceless!
I have never made it through this song without a tear or two.
Same. I always feel overwhelmed with emotion whenever I hear this song, doesn’t matter where I am.
The look on the guys face who has heard it before as his friend reacts when Bonham comes in ... and even more so as Page tears into it ... priceless
This song never ages. And I can't believe he hasn't heard it before.
It's too much to absorb in one hearing.
Seeing the absolute joy on their faces when Jimmy starts to shred is a gift!
One of the greatest songs ever. Led Zeppelin is one of the most iconic bands in rock history. I can’t remember ever hearing a bad song of theirs, I don’t think it exists. Great reaction, thank you very much.
Us brits had legends led zeppelin, pink floyd, deep purple and queen
The smile that crept across your face when they started jamming was FANTASTIC!
The greatest rock song ever written; by the greatest rock band in history, period.
Hotel California is better
Right on brother, Comfortably Numb is a close second. But Stairway in numero uno.
well if youre speaking objectively, thats false. Easily top 3
@@crazyguitarist552 you're obviously smoking something very strong!
I think that Queen has taken the spot for the best song as for the greatest band it has always and will always be Queen
Jimmy Page played his famous twin neck guitar on this track. Top neck was a 12 string, lower, a 6 string. Absolute British rock masterpiece and anthem. Loved Zep got the best part of 45 years now.
NOBODY is disappointed by Stairway to Heaven. Led Zeppelin is hard to beat.
An absolute classic and produced back when music was far more adventurous. They definitely don't make them like this any more. Awesome.😁👍🎶❤️
People will always make great, adventurous music. Sadly it just doesn't make it into the mainstream like Stairway to Heaven did.
I don't know... check out what Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Haim, Phoebe Bridget's and a bunch of other artists are putting out.
Watching Jovaughn introduce his bud to Stairway to Heaven was literally a thrill. I had chills. Like hearing it for the 1st time all over again after 50 years. Tremendous! 😎❤️❤️
Oh my ...me too. Those memories flow back in.
I felt the same way!
I am so glad we grew up to this music, it was a golden time for rock and roll!
There's a reason they are the Mighty Zeppelin. So many classic songs.
"I feel ike there's gonna be a good guitar solo..." lol. Understatement of the year. This is great stuff.
Jimmy Page , arguably one of the best guitarist ever together with Robert Plant pure legend were Led Zeppelin ROCK LEGENDS
Don't forget bonzo, although he's a bit forgotten in Stairway To Heaven until the last part
Bonzo, heck all 4 were amazing artists... not a flaw in any of there songs imo
I have literally listen to this song hundreds of times and it still gives me chills up my spine everytime I hear it 70s music rock
As with most British rock, patience, no rush. everything has a meaning
It's a masterpiece. The whole song is like a stairway, rising to a crescendo at the end.
One of the greatest of all time, gives me chills every time. His voice is time less
This was the music of my youth..Lucky me!
And me😊❤
Epic! Plant, Page & dem! Collectively: Rock superstars!
Saying it exactly how it is! Great in every way possible.
Page
Plant, Page, Bonham (vale, Bonzo) and J P Jones....the music of my teens....
It definitely starts off with a touch of the hey nonny nonnies, but it lures you in and then damn it's got you.
and then some!
The drums set the hook.
Heart live at the Kennedy center covers this song for Led Zeppelin who are being honored. Very much worth a listen.
One of my favorite live performances ever.
@@rebeccajohnson8769 heart credits zeppelin as being major influences

Great performance to, but the fantastic band heart, 2 choirs, an orchestra and jons son on drums to come close to what 4 people done 50 years ago
One of the best covers of all time. John Bonham's son Jason was on drums
Robert Plant still sounds amazing now and has used all the voice he has in so many excellent ways. And Jimmy Page, is one of, if not the best guitarist I’ve ever heard.
I’d highly suggest purchasing this album in its entirety.
I just gotta say 1) ya'll adorable, and 2) it's cool for us 'boomers' to see the younger generations enjoy one of our iconic songs. This one is part of the soundtrack of our lives :)

This, one by metallica and bohemian rhapsody by queen
Not by everyone, but it is a great tune

Did anyone ever really figure out what the hell that song meant. I always felt that the Band leaned heavily into Tolkein esque genre lyrics, for much of their music.
Good music is still being put out all the time, you just have to know where to look
Most people no matter what age, or what they are in to, end up liking this song. This song is so beautiful and special to me. I grew up listening to these tunes and I still feel the same way about them every time I listen to them, just gives me the chills. Thanks for the great reaction!!
My music teacher taught this to us back in the 70’s and we had to learn every word
More than anything, seeing youngsters listening and commenting on our old 60s - 70s stuff, is great! The best music experience era.
I totally agree with you
im 22 and this music is more popular than it might seem, just need to find the right people
Loved living in the 1970's.
Disagree about it being "the best music experience" era, but I agree with the rest.
Best? maybe.. produced at a time with less noise on the bandwidth.. lots of amazing musicians making incredible music RIGHT NOW.. but you have to work harder to find them.
When your buddy got that stink face and realized Paige's guitar had a few lines of his own to sing, priceless 🖒 thx Jay
I was lucky to grow up listening to Led Zep.
I remember back in the seventies, I was a spotty teenager and saw this song as the one to hate on... I was a nasty (little Punk rocker).. now 47 ish years on, this song is one of the rock legends greatest.... love you turning another on to this classic track....🤘
That's funny because I was kind of hating on punkers hating on music I loved. Now I have a lot more compassion and understanding for where they were coming from. It's great when we out grow the ignorance of our youth, and sad when we don't.
@@carlrosenzweig1867 so true...with age comes an understanding of real music, to not grow and stay in one time/style is to be narrow minded, "youth" we thought we knew everything .... Peace✌

A number of reactors have done that one. Can't recall whether Jovaughn has or not...
I saw Heart perform this live the summer before the Kennedy Center honors as part of a tour. It was freaking awesome.
Yes perfection perfected. Ann and Nancy are unbelievable
That performance was epic and the look on their faces was priceless. Loved that! Weren't both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant there?
@@joanies6778 Yes, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were in the balcony at the Kennedy Center performance of Stairway to Heaven but John Paul Jones was also there. He was the one closest to the camera. I'm sure the spirit of Bonham was there as well (if not in the balcony, through his son, Jason's drumming).
When Jimmy Page starts shredding I always love to see people's faces that are hearing it the first time. Pure joy!!!! Great music never dies! Thank you for this reaction.
Man love your work. Some "reactors" are just loving the sound of their own voice, pausing every 10 seconds but you pause at strategic points and honour the music. I love how the smile creeps across your buddies face as the solo kicks in. Also you have the music at at level you can hear. Great vid. Great work. The best i have heard so far!!! AWESOME!!! Great commentary too!
Man, you gotta show him the lyrics!
I like the way Javee looked at the camera after his buddy said that the drums was the drop he was waiting for. That half second glance at the camera spoke the volumes he wanted to say but instead, let the music speak for itself. Love it!!
Mad respect for your reaction..

John Bonham is widely considered to be the greatest drummer of all-time
Definetly, along with Neil Peart from Rush.
His son Jason is following in his father's footsteps.
For me it’s Danny Carey from Tool, but Led Zeppelin was my first love.

Big zeppelin fan. Brings back great memories in high school. Glad these guys enjoyed it! Man I smiled when they smiled!
When i see people's reaction to music from way back, i see how blessed i was to have an open mind at a young age. I'm Black, and people are amazed at what i listen to, artists of many races, styles, languages, etc, DooWop to Motown to Easy Listening to Classic Rock to Classic Country to Classic Pop to R&B to New Age to Brazilian Jazz and so many others. I don't limit myself, i just listen without prejudice.

I’m the same way. I’m white, but I listen to it all…these guys are so correct…good music is good music.
Great music is great music irrespective of genre. I’m a white boy that grew up in Limerick Ireland in the 70s listening to Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Taj Mahal and John Mayall, the father of the British Blues scene and many others. What a great time it was for music!
