When I listened to my favorite radio station do the Top 500 Song countdown every year, over Memorial Day weekend, guess which song ALWAYS was in the #1 position every year......👀
It’s actually still considered the number #1 song, I’ve heard it’s been played more then any other song. I believe every year on Sirius XM classic vinyl top 100 countdown, it always lands in number one spot. Thank you for deciding to listen to Led Zeppelin, all their songs are great, some might not be your favorites but you won’t hate them either. Keep enjoying them, you won’t be sorry.
I have heard this song thousands of times and it is still to my ears one of the best compositions ever written. The fact that it still has this effect on young people discovering it for the first time proves it’s true greatness.
I saw Led Zeplin in 1973 at the sold-out Braves Stadium in Atlanta. The field and all seats were filled. They were horrible!!!! Drunk and on Drugs. It was the biggest concert in Atlanta to this day. Less than halfway through, 2/3's of the audience left....including us. Then we got robbed at gunpoint while getting into the car. Stairway to Heaven sounded like I was in HELL.
I am now 71 years old and experienced this song when it was first released in 1971, and like everyone in my generation, I can tell you we were as mesmerized by it as much then and you are today. Over the many years since Led Zeppelin produced this epic song, I use to listen to the famous radio personality, Casey Cassin. produce his "Countdown to the 100 best songs of all Time" every Fourth of July weekend and this song was repeatedly , year after year, voted as the number one greatest song of all time. It is truly the greatest rock ballad of all time, and Robert Plant's vocal, Jimmy Page's guitar riff and John Henry Bonham's drum solo are one of the greatest of all time. I am truly thankful that I lived through the greatest period in rock music.
52 years ago, when I was about your age, I remember we heard LZ and realized, this band is different to others, they were one of a kind. It still makes me feel the same, 52 years later. It is touching to see it still has that affect on you younger generation. They are timeless. Enjoy them, you will for the rest of your life.
Pink Floyd. Way better for me (music is obviously subjective). LZ had many worse songs that I’d skip over. (Not saying Floyd didn’t put songs out I didn’t like) Myfavorite is Rain Song by LZ. Echoes by Floyd. Both masterpieces.
@@Thomas-we5cy yeah slightly, but LZ and Queen follow close in my personal top 3 My favorites are Battle of evermore and No Quarter live (that middle jam session is absolutely gorgeous)
With all due respect, and this coming from a fellow Pink Floyd fan, LZ is untouchable in every way. Can't listen to Floyd very long as it gets depressing. Zep had so many different genres within their albums so as never to get bored. I grew up with all these fantastic bands. The Beatles, Floyd, Purple... All of them. Zeppelin was the only band that could literally drop my jaw to the floor. Repeatedly. They were THAT good.
This was before auto tune and computers. You had to have skills and talent. The mighty Zeppelin there will never be another band like them. BEST BAND EVER!!!
For a young guy you are incredibly perceptive and sensitive, wise beyond your years. Please accept this as a compliment I do not mean to be patronising in any way at all. The way you interpreted the lyrics was wonderful.
Respectfully, I think that after listening, then take a pause and think of everything that the song has given you. Then articulate your thoughts and feelings.
"Yes, there are two paths" One is away from music and one is towards it. Stay on the path... BTW, Heart did a famous tribute cover at the Kennedy Center Awards in front of the surviving members of Led Zep. It is worth watching.
Make sure to select the video of KCH that has no intro, just Ann and Nancy walking on stage, that's the longer guitar solo version and others bits, the other vids cut alot and nd we all mention it. 🤷♀️
The live version is great, but I'm glad you got to hear this first. It's great to watch them perform this live but when you hear this version first it make you respect the live version that much more.
Watch the whole movie The Song Remains Same It is as close as you can get to seeing them live today which is the 1973 concerts at MSG that is now 51 years ago that is the only way I got to sorta see them live
The reason I watch reactions. Watching another generation fall in love with the best decade of music. The stuff I grew up on. The 70's. Pick a genre. It was all gold.
I think "Kashmir" is certainly the *band's* favorite (and mine, as well) but I also know that was due -- at least in part -- to the fact they just got tired of playing "Stairway."
This is by far the greatest Rock Band ever. Start at the beginning of their catalog with led Zeppelin 1 and go all the way through. You will be enlightened and you will never be the same. There has never been four better musicians put together. It's like it was created by the universe itself.
@@BBaldwin I haven't forgotten the Beatles and I definitely give the credit where credit's due but it's like comparing apples and oranges, they were completely different.

I was in my mid teens in the 70's when Stairway was released with Led Zep 4 album. At the end of my first ever playing of this track I remember sitting there on the floor for about 10 minutes just staring at my record player . Not sitting on the floor much anymore but it still gets me all those years later... Really good and honest review young man , keep it up.
I saw Led Zeppelin 4 times, when Jimmy was not drunk they were good !!! Jethro Tull much better than Led Zeppelin, I saw Jethro Tull do the whole Passion Play album not for note- Led Zeppelin could never do that. NEVER !!!! Also they did Thick As a Brick live in a way Jimmy Page wish he could

The quote that captures the essence of this song the best was Nathaniel Hawthorne: “Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp but if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you”.
It's interesting, most famous songs get covered. But I haven't come across a single cover of this song by anyone else, and I think that's because everyone is intimidated; no one could do this song any justice after the Led Zeppelin original.
From what I've read even the band members had no idea this song would be as big as it was when they recorded it. I think it will still be played far into the future.
This was one of their best, most people are recommending the more popular well known songs, but they have so many hidden gems that reach that same plateau for the listener. Try Gallows Pole Led Zeppelin. It will be a real treat to your ears.

There is no better song ever 🎶🎵👍🙏 equal maybe 🤔
To this day this song still gives me goosebumps. Will never be another Zeppelin
You are the very first reactor I've ever seen to pick up on the "two paths" motif in this song, before it's even mentioned in the lyrics.
*Very* perceptive of you.. I'm impressed.
When I was young I loved Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken." Then this song came along and my path was solidified. I'm nearing 70 and continue along the road less traveled.
No no no! You MUST hear Heart do Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors to Led Zepplin. It even made them cry! It is life changing! Truly!
Well it was good but Not as good as Led Zeppelin 👍
Heart performed this song live. I think it was at the Rock 'n' Roll HOF. The band members of Led Zepplin were in the audience. That was a very worthy version.
It was the Kennedy Honors program from Washington DC in 2012.
Thank you for giving me another opportunity to listen to this song. This was the first album I ever bought that wasn’t The Beatles.
Best era for rock music...Im in my 70's..this was my era..
Your reaction is better than mine was 50 years ago, I'm still trying to pick my jaw off the ground😂😂☘️💃💃
