Brawl was my first Smash game. At the time of getting it, I didn't know how to JUMP. So effectively, I did this challenge for about half of Subspace Emissary without knowing how you could jump.

If I remember correctly you can't switch to Zelda during that segment. There's a ctuscene with Sheik after that part so they locked the option.

2. Sheik can transform into Zelda.
3. You can cancel Dedede’s hitbox by pressing down, and he goes into freefall.

The forest level with Link and Yoshi always gave me trouble even WITH a jump; there's just so many parts that require vertical movement, that pink switch in particular being the bane of my existence. I can't imagine doing it without a jump

At 8:53, I think you were able to get up because with split-second timing, you used Squirtle’s aerial kick to propel yourself up just enough to proceed.

You can just fall through platforms or walk off edges and then immediately use recovery moves that would only go up in the air.

You could have shield broken with characters who have no upward grounded recovery.

I’m actually a little surprised you attempted this challenge without at least testing most of the characters move sets considering how many movement options you just kinda didn’t know about or straight up forgot about. I don’t know if I’m more impressed that you were able to do this run with how few moves that were utilized or disappointed from how underused a lot of the mechanics were lol

So the game considered you 'on-ground' for long enough to cancel out the helpless state from using your recovery move, but also short-enough that Squirtle immediately threw out an aerial, which may or may not have shifted the hurtbox enough to push Squirtle onto solid ground?

Darn, I was gonna have a go at this one, looks like ya beat me to it! Looking at the footage, though, I don't think I could've made this one, especially with my Up-B restrictions (wasn't gonna allow anything that was obviously a jump, like Mario's and Samus's recovery moves).
I played World of Light without jumping. It was odd, but possible. Great video!
Connor McClory a lot of spirit battles don’t need jumping so with the many routes it’s likely possible. The final battle part where is scrolls up could be hard but some characters have good vertical recoveries

@@D_YellowMadness While this is true, I didn't find they had the damage output or range to take down certain foes. Oddly enough, Simon was the best character for the challenge. His up smash pretty much replaced his aerials, especially for Marx, and for Dracula, his axes and uppercut were vital. For the finale though, I found Sonic and Snake were fantastic for the sheer fact that they have great Up-Specials, and are able to aerial out of it.
@@ConnorTheUndying I probably woulda used pichu. They're pretty early on as well and they have high damage without aerials and a good recovery.

When I first played subspace I was completely stuck at that part cuz I was a bit too casual and knew almost nothing besides smash attacks, jumps & specials and I for some reason could not make that jump until one day I did that same thing accidentally and managed to get up

Galeem and dharkon reasoning: anyone who recovers may do some damage, but most recoveries are too slow to get more than the initial damage before they teleport away.
Roost BR Pauline and Wiley are optional, but the Galeem, Darkhon, and Final Battles would definitely be run-killers like you said.

this is the first video I've ever seen with a parsec advert and i'm so happy about that!!! parsec is a life saver for me and my boyfriend since we're long distance but still like to play games together as much as we can. its honestly a pretty good application. seriously would recommend!!
I liked the Subspace Emissary and actually 100% it.
All-in-all, had fun, some enemies were annoying as all crap and would gladly play again if asked
