When Roxas heard that he could sacrifice himself to save another he fought against it while Sora won't hesitate for an instant to save a life. Roxas looks up to Sora so much. Sora is literally the version of himself who can make the decisions Roxas wishes he could.
I mean Roxas’ life was never about saving someone. He was told he is a Nobody and his job is to collect Hearts so all Nobodies could be whole. Unlike Sora who is told he is the Keyblade wielder who would save the world, Roxas never had that responsibility. That’s why Roxas’ purposes is to be his own person and just be happy with friends. They have no family nor friends to go to, but they do have a place they’d like to be. So I like his purposes in life which is just so pure.

I think Sora is going to start caring for Roxas as his own brother. Think about it. Both of them had a deep desire to meet the other before they found out who they were. And now, especially after witnessing all of Roxas' memories, Sora is desperate to save him. I think in KH III Sora and Roxas are gonna become really good friends. And when you consider their literal relationship,like Brothers even.
I mean, getting Roxas was the objective for the first chunk of the game and that one scene in SanFranTokyo shows how Roxas has been an important connection to Sora, and Re:Mind when they are in each other's thoughts being how Roxas got to the Keyblade graveyard. They may have not been able to act like friends, but the bond was there, Sora was just trying to help friends out/ save Kairi and weren't given time to talk.

This scene is incredibly brilliant in two ways. One of lays out the two definitions of self that Kingdom Hearts has explored. Both are true, “You’re me, so you can feel what I felt.” “No, Roxas you’re you… you deserve as much as I do to be your own person.” And then the fact that ROXAS is the one making the case for the collective sense of self, Mr. “I am me, nobody else.” And SORA is the one arguing that Roxas is a separate self. It’s a fantastic summary of Kingdom Hearts exploration of Self.
I still look back at this and I am always a bit concerned and creeped with how Roxas was able to just smile while he was dumping all of his pain he felt into Sora. I mean hey "It's way past time that you learned what real hurt feels like."
I think what gets me the most about this scene is how utterly broken Sora becomes once Roxas' memories become his own. He shudders, twitches his eyes, sighs brokenly as if he's about to cry. This is a new perspective he wasn't able to see in 2, and he understandably does not know how to react. And when he does react, he's still confused: "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO SEE???"

There's a good dark fanfic called "Twilight Will" in which he refuses to return to Sora. Sora is my favorite character... But I was very proud of Roxas for fighting to claim a future of his own design. Because that is how you know you're a living being. Any less, and you just happen to be a toy that breathes. And besides, a battle hardened soldier ? Forget emo Riku (yes, I'm aware I should have more empathy for him given what he went through), this is the dark badass opposite of the optimistic protagonist I wanna see.
*Spoilers* The symbology of what Roxas said, after playing KH3, is even more painful. Roxas, though technically speaking is the other half of Sora, as Vanitas is Ventus' actual other half. Sora's frustration of not getting through to Vanitas is something that he, almost feels responsible for given that he can talk to Roxas. But Roxas isn't his dark half, just his half. So, maybe in some crazy way, yes, this could have been the other way around. But due to Sora's inherent, and often blinding good, it really does have to be Sora.

The muffled dialogue from Riku at the end of the scene trying to wake Sora up sends chills down my spine every time (the subtitles do kill the mood a bit on that, though.) Honestly KH3D TWTNW has some of the best cutscenes in the series. The writing and voice acting in this world was fantastic. It’s just a shame the rest of the game wasn’t written this well.
The story of Roxas and Sora is the pinnacle of character driven storytelling within the series. The lore actually is so confusing in KH2, but they are background noise that can be easily tuned out, The rest of them are “darkness! Light! Darkness! Light! Darkness! Light!” Don’t every let lore distract from the actual story...and KH3 did exactly that, as well as almost all other games in the series’s.
KH2’s storytelling may be more sloppier and a lot more confusing, but it raised the stakes far higher than the previous game did by giving closure in the end KH3’s storytelling was borderline stupid and just covered in Nostalgia and other bullshit

There's a good dark fanfic called "Twilight Will" in which he refuses to return to Sora. Sora is my favorite character... But I was very proud of Roxas for fighting to claim a future of his own design. Because that is how you know you're a living being. Any less, and you just happen to be a toy that breathes.
And besides, a battle hardened soldier ? Forget emo Riku (yes, I'm aware I should have more empathy for him given what he went through), this is the dark badass opposite of the optimistic protagonist I wanna see.

The symbology of what Roxas said, after playing KH3, is even more painful. Roxas, though technically speaking is the other half of Sora, as Vanitas is Ventus' actual other half. Sora's frustration of not getting through to Vanitas is something that he, almost feels responsible for given that he can talk to Roxas. But Roxas isn't his dark half, just his half.
So, maybe in some crazy way, yes, this could have been the other way around. But due to Sora's inherent, and often blinding good, it really does have to be Sora.
The name of this cutscene is misleading, because, as we all know, Roxas is forced into a constant state of grief, no matter the time.

Beliving that his sole existence was just to destroy this world, and here comes Sora sweet innocent Sora. Sora the boy who gladly took the pain of a boy several hundred years old. Who saw his friends disapear infront of him and decided to help without question.

I personally thought every entry I have seen in the KH series has been fire 🔥 with the storytelling aspect & yes that’s 3 included.
No issues or faults in my eyes because that game is super complex to understand for most but that’s just my opinion.

Sora already went ahead, going to Quadratum alone. But there's nothing wrong in exploring alternative timelines in which salvation comes earlier.

Yknow Sora always bugged me as a Protagonist. He isnt really smart, cool and he can be really childish. However his simple nature of wanting everyone to be happy is what i think makes him a good protagonist. It may be childish, ridiculous or even hypocritical how he thinks, but thats fine.
The muffled dialogue from Riku at the end of the scene trying to wake Sora up sends chills down my spine every time (the subtitles do kill the mood a bit on that, though.)
Honestly KH3D TWTNW has some of the best cutscenes in the series. The writing and voice acting in this world was fantastic. It’s just a shame the rest of the game wasn’t written this well.

The story of Roxas and Sora is the pinnacle of character driven storytelling within the series. The lore actually is so confusing in KH2, but they are background noise that can be easily tuned out,
The rest of them are “darkness! Light! Darkness! Light! Darkness! Light!” Don’t every let lore distract from the actual story...and KH3 did exactly that, as well as almost all other games in the series’s.
KH2’s storytelling may be more sloppier and a lot more confusing, but it raised the stakes far higher than the previous game did by giving closure in the end
KH3’s storytelling was borderline stupid and just covered in Nostalgia and other bullshit
Now we just need a scene like this, but with Xion, so I can get some closure.
