No matter what his friends tried to do to help him move on, Dante couldn’t because, at the time, he believed to be the only person left in his family. @@SpringdayAutumnmoon This might be too long in the past, but what entails this "Phantom Dante" theory? I would guess it would be that DMC2 Dante is an imposter of some kind.
@@SpringdayAutumnmoon That would actually explain so many unsolved questions, especially the personality change. Why Dante never uses Doppelganger again after DMC3. Why Trish is absent. Why Rebellion looks differently and doesn't have the same abilities as in DMC3 and DMC4. Ebony and Ivory could be fakes since they're just human-made guns. Why his devil trigger looks and works completely different than it did in 3, 1 and 4. Why Dante apparently never joined forces with Lucia, as if he had never met her. Why DMC2-Dante did the whole self-sacrifice spiel and got trapped in the underworld, only to show up in DMC4 as if nothing happened. It even explains DMC2-Dante's coin. It's a coin where both sides look the same, just like how the Doppelganger-demon is a mirrored image of Dante. It even gives the Doppelganger-demon a redemption arc. Despite (probably) being a full-blooded demon, it mirrored Dante's human personality so well that it sacrifices itself at the end. This finally makes DMC2 fit into the canon. Thanks for telling me that.
People hating on this Dante, but I find him to be the kindest he ever be in the series. Not only that, he still have moment of one-liner quip and confidant smirk that he always has.
yea, people do hate on 2 dante a lot, but I find this does make sense canonically. if we go with the chronology that this happens after 1 and the animated series and its allusions to dante being depressed, I wouldn't be surprised by his uncharacteristic withdrawn-ness. we do still see glimpses of his usual cocky quippiness, it's just extraordinarily subdued. apart from that though, the gameplay was pretty dogwater, which cemented this as the worst (asides from the reboot-which-must-never-be-named). which is quite unfortunate, as his personality in 2 does give insight into his headspace before he ran into Nero in 4 and found a reason to break out of his downward spiral. this is all my opinion though, so take it with a grain of salt.
It makes sense canonically, since this is taking place after Dante did kill Vergil and lost the last of his family. Once he meets Nero he pretty much regains his charm back
The voice combined with his stoic, quiet attitude...it's such a strange combination. Heck, literally most of the dialogue is cliche and or DMC1 spiel like...man... I honestly know who's to blame for the weird voice direction, I feel like Matthew Kaminsky maybe could've had the chance to give a good performance if they'd given him more direction and hadn't changed his personality...but this game had no direction even in the creation of itself soooo...I guess I could cut it some slack there, 4 months of development is literal *insanity* to work under and it's a miracle this game came out at all, guess we're all indebted to it to a certain degree.
Devil May Cry 2 Dante had the best look, demeanor and his devil trigger and guns were the strongest in this entry. I wish we could get another game from Dante in this era and I wish Lucia returned in DMC5, though there is always hope for 6

There’s a roaming theory that since this takes place after DMC 1 and the anime, we more or less see his attitude shift due to him going thru a certain depression. This of course stems over the loss of Vergil twice and overcoming one of the most powerful demons in his world. So with no family left and pretty much no one to challenge him, he starts taking himself way too seriously and finds little joy in life. It to say he has absolutely no sense of humor left or is completely bleak, we still see his humor spark here and there during his “dark” period, but he returns to his clownful ways once he meets Nero, and as he’s explained in cutscenes before, he suspected him to be related somehow the moment they met and especially once Nero began using the Yamato.
actually you can see his transition clearly in DMC4. He was cheerful when talking to Lady and Trish but on the field working he looked really serious, and just quick to get the job done (one shot into Sanctus head) and doesn't speak a single work. But the moment he fought with Nero in the cathedral he is more and more happy 'cause he suspected Nero was a hybrid like him too. Then when Dante saw the Devil Bringer he knew, and from then on you can see goofball Dante back again because he's certain Nero was somewhat similar to him.
@@JuriSins yep , even the ending in the DMC Anime implies he was depressed. After DMC1 , when Lady and Trish were away for too long , he starts to act like DMC2 Dante

I like to think of it that way cuz yeah at the beginning of dmc4 when he came down to kill the evil priest he starts off to act like in dmc2 so it actually make sense
0:18 My reaction to the current phase of MCU.
0:47 "King"? Yeah here's your crown 👑
My best quote
0:05 IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, ITS TOO LATE
Ok but the “here’s your crown” line out of context is pretty badass
Even the shot
Also yeeeaaaaaah Cavaliere😩
Now that I think about it if someone really tried they could easily convince me that dmc2 is actually all vergil
Dante, more like venoum snake
wtf i JUST got done telling all my friends about my Phantom Dante theory, wym someone else thought of it a year ago
@@SpringdayAutumnmoon This might be too long in the past, but what entails this "Phantom Dante" theory? I would guess it would be that DMC2 Dante is an imposter of some kind.
@@OrigamiPhoenix He used his Doppelganger ability from DMC3, it went rogue somehow, and it was the true protagonist of DMC2.
The Weird not so wacky few words having motorcycle man.
Dante in DMC2 was just Vergil trying to ruin Dante's name.
0:07
Did you find what you were looking for?.....Whatever
That was super ridiculous even for out of context
He sounds like Batman.
Bro‘s bill was so high he can even afford pizza anymore 😭🙏
I actually like dante’s design in this game
After that, she change her name and using more futuristic tech to fight cyber guy
And some Senator with nanomachines in his blood
My favourite design of Dante. Seriously, how is he not an unlockable skin/outfit?
damn, Dante had more lines here than Maul from The Phantom Menace.
we can just say dmc2 was an alternate reality and it'll make more sense to people.
It makes sense canonically, since this is taking place after Dante did kill Vergil and lost the last of his family. Once he meets Nero he pretty much regains his charm back
Why does everyone hate DMC2 so much. You act like its Sonic 06. This game is amazing.
@@JuriSins I cant tell if you're joking, but in case you aren't.
th-cam.com/video/lcvw1E0Mcac/w-d-xo.html
@@RoachDoggJR4200 Not joking in the slightest. Heck, I am in a community with hundreds of people who loves DMC2.
@@RoachDoggJR4200 plus you can do the same thing in that video in dmc1 and 3 so bruhg.
He missed his brother
This is definitely not the wacky woohoo pizza man we've all come to know and love.
Jesus, I am glad now DMC2 is canonically after the Animated series and before 4.
Hell yeah
"Crap like that doesn't interest me. But... Your swan song will!"
Underrated line.
I love dmc2 dante so much such a badass
Wow.. Hell was really terapeutic to Dante
I honestly don’t blame him being like this since at this point in the timeline, he has been through…and I mean through a lot of emotional moment…
This takes "featuring Dante from the devil may cry series" to a whole new level.
Vergil would be proud of him
Idk why but its satisfying to hear he talk
And then Dmc3 came along and his behavior in this game made more sense seeing how he's depressed as fuck around now with what happened to his brother.
We want from 2 to 3, greatest glow up in fiction
The best Dante for me
I fucking love his voice.
Since when did Dante become "Two Face?" Lol
DMC2 the only game from the franchise that has a coin and Diesel jeans
Devil May Cry 2 Dante had the best look, demeanor and his devil trigger and guns were the strongest in this entry. I wish we could get another game from Dante in this era and I wish Lucia returned in DMC5, though there is always hope for 6
I actually prefer this version of Dante. He sounds so cool LMAO!
Me too
At least I don't want to punch this Dante in the face compared to DMC 3.
Can you explain why you prefer this version?
@@iratoonix Lol
With a little rework he could actually be cool. Oh wait thats what Vergil is for. A more serious but still stylish character
sounds about what he'd be like if he was depressed...still dorky but super apathetic
hes canonically depressed in this game
@@LylaFur so am i
DMC2 is basically Dante when not in a mission the relates to Sparda or Vergil. They eve made sure he's like this in the Anime
"Did you find what you were looking for? Whatever..."
Dante being depressed doesn't excuse him being poorly written here.
it's even less talk than snake y msgv, incredible

@@NingenKaijin2006 accurate.
as someone who actually beat dmc2 each of these custcenese gave me immense ptsd
Honestly think all this dialogue except "Don't speak, just die" could be rather in character for Dante with a different delivery
To be fair, Dante's other two big lines in the final Arius scene were pretty good zingers. "Show time!" was... delivered poorly, but I really like "A false coin for a false god."
I find it hilarious how 6 seconds into the video and we're already on mission 8 ☺
"Don't speak, just die" is legit Dante's most relatable line
pretty vergil-esque one liners
The "Here's your crown" line is the only one that actually sounds like Dante.
I prefer DMC2 Dante any day than the reboot DmC Dante.
He doesn't talk much, he just said few words if he have to.
The reboot one is just... childish and loves to swear a lot
as if regular dante isnt childish?
I'm here to kill Chaos
He said it, he said the fucking line "DEVILS NEVER CRYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
I sincerely hope Matthew Kraminsky got paid.
He did a good job despite the character being butchered.
This was by far the best version of Dante.
How did he canonically gone from sounding like a badass to a 15 year old? (DMC2 then DMC4)
@@dofydudes1735 makes sense
@@JuriSins yep , even the ending in the DMC Anime implies he was depressed.
After DMC1 , when Lady and Trish were away for too long , he starts to act like DMC2 Dante
Idk man Reuben Langdon's higher pitch voice fits Dante more imo.
Look how they massacred our boy! What the fuck happened?!
Bruh, he went from depressed ohno pizza guy to wacky woohoo pizza guy in the end.
1. damn dante had some really badass lines
2. i wish they made a sequel or something showing how he got out of hell
It's in a novel, he escapes using one Shard of the Yamato
@@Not_Alan_Wake well that's underwhelming
Most of his voice lines are questions 💀
Everyone always goes on about how DmC Dante has an unbearable personality but at least that Dante has a personality compared to DMC 2 Dante.
The dmc 2 dante is similar to dmc anime dante or dmc4 dante at the beginning of that game. It's implied that dante suffered from depression because of the death of his brother and family, that attitude change when he saw Nero for the first time
ImpIying a bad pesonaIity is better than not having one
Now when you say DmC Dante are you referring to the (cleverly named game) DmC: Devil May Cry Dante or DMC1 Dante? 'Cause DmC Dante is usually called Donte or D.I.N.O (Dante In Name Only).
@@mistoryman953 He's talking about Dino from Donte May Cry Fuck You Edition featuring El Vergin aka Pregnant Woman Sniper.
I would rather listen to this on repeat for six weeks than one more sit through of Donte and the giant slug woman screaming "Fuck you!" like that's a conversation worth even WRITING. "Here's your crown" is a solid enough line to make this worth listening to. Nothing in DmC is. Gosh, so glad they included that line about magic markings made from squirrel cum! That's what Devil May Cry needed to be gritty and serious.
He sounds like the unused voice lines for doom guy in quake 3
came to think of it...
DMC2 didn´t even had taunts...
Game was literally made in 4 months after new director was pointed to the game as the team got nothing done in 6 months
While everyone thinks of the "here's your crown" line, my brain will randomly remember that dry ass "what are you doing granny" 😂
0:47 the only good quote
This was the first dmc game I played, and I honestly like this Dante. Sure, the wacky pizza guy is fun and all, but this is a nice break.
Dmc2 should have been the last chronologically, when Virgil takes over as Dante after he dies.
