You have some really practical and clever suggestions for new collectors like me. I do keep used plastic food and nut containers to sort and store my circulated pennies by decade to search for errors and varieties a little at a time. I love the 2x2 package reuse. Brilliant! Always look forward to your video! Thank you!
And my fav... cleaned out plastic peanut butter jars! Thanks for the info!
Great idea; you covered enough options for me. Thanks for sharing your tips.
oh crap, I didn`t think about using my 2x2 packs to hold them, thanks the idea.
Very informative, i really like the way you got it organized.
Nice and interesting video J!!! Thank you!
I wondered about the penny storage,So the plastic is safe like as in cashew container ? I was told to only use the tubes. Or glass which im afraid of breakage.I like your reuse of containers/money saver for sure and wow ive got a ton.😊thank you.
Always looking for new ideas and improvements for storage. Great & helpful video. THX!
Thanks for watching)
Cigar boxes work great for storing all your cellophane mint sets by the way.
Thanks for the information. Very interesting and helpful.
Can you make a vid on selling your silver stash. I just want to be "prepared" for when silver rises. Also, when is a good time to sell (price wise)
nice overview, have you eve tried the caps albums?
Thank you so much my friend for sharing your great Idea
Thanks, excellent video. This is all I needed.
Great options Blue. I like to use empty pill bottles and containers from the marijuana dispensary which come in a variety of colors. :)
Great Video J & B, Thank You
I was advised tubes were the best way to keep copper pennies in order to separate dates and mint marks. I take it you would say that is wrong. Spend the money on coins instead, right?
thankyou for the info
I also use powerade bottles to collect and hold my coins.
Great info...thinking of taking the plunge, this helps.
Thank you Steven for watching and commenting. We appreciate it very much. J&B
Hi Shaun! I use empty medicine bottles! If you don’t have enough by use some pharmacies will sell you some
Have a lot of shining penny in. The 50 and a 45plain
I prefer to buy Littleton coin albums. Great quality and they look very nice
I have 200$ face value in Canadian pre 82 nickels from coin roll hunting. I have them stored in a monster box, in 2$ standard rolls I bought the clear plastic rolls from the dollar store.
I am assuming they will eventually turn all my nickels green right? How often should I switch them out? Should I switch to paper rolls? I keep my junk silver in the hard plastic tubes but it wouldn't make sense to put 2$ of nickels in them. Just wondering what is a better option maybe?
1 more important question! I have 2 25cent bank boxes filled with copper pennies. Should I sort out all the ones with green on them? The green slime will spread right? Seems like so much work but I don't want them all to be green in 20 years. How do we store copper pennies as to prevent them from getting this way.
Thank you for any input.
I use different sizes of empty and washed medicine bottles?
I store my coppers in pint glass canning jars..
J&B...Very helpful information. Thanks for sharing🙃
Thank you for watching! J&B
2x2 packs is pvc free, right ?

Looking for wheat back pennies
Do you have a 1909-s
JBCoins, Hoping you see this post. I found a 1963 D penny that has the L in Liberty stamped tight against the edge of the coin. is this an error that is common? Is it something to watch for that is worth collecting? love the channel!
Ethan Boone I'm brand new, but I'd hang on to it if I were you.(didn't mean to make that rhyme).
Most likely just a bit of center. But only really off center coins are worth above face value
I have a lot of proof coin in paoer flips. And those note book pages. I have some really nice kennedys. Deep cameo straight g and so on. I’m told that’s bad. Well heck. If that is so. What a waste of money those were.
I went through a few of my coins that i have and I have some coins with no mint mark. The oldest so far is a wheat penny 1942. Why would it not have a mint mark ?
The Philadelphia mint didn't add a mint mark until 1979. A "P" was added (starting in 1979) to all the coins minted there except for the cent.
Doug D I can't tell you as I'm new at this. What I WILL tell u is to hang on to that coin & NOT let it go! I'm serious.
God I hate those clear plastic tubes. I got a clear plastic tube of wheat cents and the very bottom one of them got stuck so im going to have to destroy the tube to get it out. Those square numis tubes are way better.
Enter me please
I store my copper pennies by keeping the Pennie boxes and rolling them up and filling the box back up with 50 rolls of copper pennies
JBCOINSINC - A lot of great information in this video! Thanks so very much! I have a question about the card stock 2x2 and the Clear 2x2 flips. I know you and Camera Girl have a lot of commenters so I'm going to PM this too you as well and leave this comment here for all to get your take. My question is kind of a 2 parted. I've heard conflicting evidence that those (call them "clear flips") are actually Vinyl and is basically PVC that we know damages coins. Those you've shown in the video appear more rigid than Vinyl, but almost brittle? This leads me into my second question: I've heard people saying that you need to change out your 2x2 Card stock flips every 4-6 years? Why? If I have properly stapled shut and I keep them in a proper 2x2 cardboard box with a Silica pack inside why do I need to revamp my collection every 4-6 years? Is this just bad information or what? I've heard this from a few people that the coin was shiny BU when they put them in the card stock 2x2 and 3-4 years later they find their shinny copper Red turn Brown? I've done lots of searches everywhere and cannot find an answer one way or another. In your opinion what is the best way to store your coins? Tubes, Books, Albums, Clear or Card 2x2 flips or just but 3k Air-Tites?
:) Thank you!
The clear ones like he showed are PVC and can seripusly damage your coins. The flips are ok if you cant fold or bend it without breaking them. Also the 2x2 mylars are ok to use unless they are old, older ones have PVC and Im pretty sure those whitman ones have PVC too (Not saying they do just saying they might).
YoloBagels - Thank you for your answer! It's really been weighing heavy on my mind what to invest my money in as far as Archival Quality ways to store my coins. I asked my LCS and they said that the 2x2 Mylar flips are fine and the person was talking about something else. They actually said that the best flips are this 2x2's that are made of some sort of Vinyl like plastic. Almost the material that's like when you buy a sheet of ten 1oz. Silver bars from APMEX or whomever and they come that way. I really appreciate you answering my question! Good advice on this is hard to find and differs from source to source.
great video
Thank you ann for watching and commenting. We appreciate it very much. J&B
Do you clean the coins before you storage them?
Why not store coins in paper rolls?
You can thats how they were done when I was a kid. Still nothing wrong with that today.
You should use that rigid plastic, it doesn't hurt the coins.
why do you collect copper pennies ?
Many collectors hold onto them because some day the US Mint will stop making cents and the government will melt them down as they return to the Treasury to recover the metal content. Today it costs more to make a cent than what a cent is worth.
Plus if (when) the penny is discontinued, it would then be legal for us to melt them down and recover the copper as well.
Personally I use paper tubes for storing junk coins.
I use old prescription medication bottles sans label for my junk silver, wheat cents, & older nickels/quarters etc. They are see through (though mostly orange) and best of all, they are free.
It’s odd to hear someone that collects coins call it a penny ? We dont have anything called a penny , it’s called a cent ,one cent or a half a cent all US is ever made lol I know you know this just trying to educate others. You guys be blessed I really enjoy your station. Great ideas thanks
